The only reason Im rating this a 5 star is because at one time this was such a cool place to walk to being that I had just moved right across the street in early 2000. Im a bit disappointed as to how their parking is (if you ever go there youll totally understand what Im talking about) plus they have Valle parking which they block off several close parking areas for their Valle parking which makes it extremely difficult for anyone to park close to where they are walking to. Not to mention they cant seem to hold any really good tenants due to from what I hear is their overcharging for lease. A real bummer, being that I used to really love the place years ago....walking me daughter over for lunch and a ice cream. Hopefully they wont lose any of their "flagship" businesses like the Cheesecake Factory..the Yard House..PF Changi Flemings and Babes... fingers crossed!

I am writing to you because the links on the web sight do not seem to work. I have made at lease two visits to The River at Rancho Mirage in recent weeks and have found that the water quality of the body of water surrounding the facility is in some need of some serious maintenance. I can understand that if a major pipe breaks, as in the most recent past, you can have an unfortunate period of down time. However, I find, that today, the water severely cloudy or turbid. That, I find, is totally unacceptable considering that it is not a body of water being used by the public in which to bathe. It seems to me that the filtration system is in need of some serious work... major cleaning of the filters ... replacement of the current filtration system and/or the sanitation system used. We had lunch today - I had a simple hamburger, wife had a club sandwich. The location is outstanding, service was wonderful, the food was very disappointing. Hamburger was dry (I ordered medium), no condiments on the burger I had to ask for that; wifes club was also dry, blah!! I gave it a three rating based on atmosphere / service - very friendly. Ill wait a few months and try it again, I really like the location. Hopefully theyll improve their menu.

There is lots to see and do while visiting The River. The main place I like to shop at is Forever 21, but there are more shops available. There are various places to eat at as well, and of course theres a Starbucks for aaaall your coffee needs. There are some shops and restaurants that are definitely on the pricey side, but even walking around window shopping can be fun! Also, theres a movie theater if youd rather catch a movie instead of shop around.

A nice place in the Valley to walk around. Some chain restaurants do well here, but a lot of smaller ones seem to close after awhile since they cant afford to stay there. Definitely an area geared towards those visiting the area. The Century theater here is nice, and is being upgraded with new leather seats. There are also a few places to shop, but they can be a bit pricey. I like the Forever 21 and Bath and Body Works in the area.

We come and visit The River every time were out in the desert. It use to have a great smoke shop where Ive bought several cigars while on vacation but sadly they closed a couple of years ago. But there are several restaurants to eat at and lots of stores for shopping. They do have a great movie theatre there, which is very helpful when its summer time. Parking can be a pain sometimes to find....so just plan ahead or valet.

What started off as a terrific concept has lost its mojo. They still have some great draws: The Cheesecake Factory, Flemings, PF Changs, The Yard House, Ben and Jerrys, a cool movie theatre, etc. But what coulda/woulda/shoulda been a main attraction for the entire valley has ceded the opportunity to the hipness of Palm Springs and the attractiveness of El Paseo. Fingers crossed the new owners bring the magic back.

Not sure why this place is still getting so much play on the star meter. Take it from a local who has seen this place from the beginning to now. Sure, it still looks nice, has a couple of places to eat that keep going in and out of business. Mostly, its empty stores with posters in the Windows. Lets be real here; this River is almost dried up. Literally and figuratively.....

We were visiting Palm Springs, and our friends brought us to this mall. Was unexpected, for me, to see this water feature in this area. There are quite a few empty retail locations, but that wasnt the focus of our visit, so that didnt affect us at all. The Cheesecake Factory restaurant located beside the river walk is open, and is was great as well

The River is pretty, with all the flowing water evaporating away. What drought? The smell of chlorine keeping the water clean is abundant. The restaurants there are nice, but for anyone with any mobility issues - bring a wheelchair. Parking is always an issue, so you are going to have a long walk to wherever you are going.

I like visiting the river whenever I am in the desert. This time when I went a lot of stores were closed down, but it looks like new ones should be opening soon! They have a movie theater, a forever 21, and a river! Its a nice atmospheres and phone to check out at night too.

This is a very popular place for locals and tourists alike. With some good high end restaurants, a movie theater, an outdoor amphitheater, and eye-catching man-made rivers and ponds that run throughout the property, this is definitely a great place to spend some free time.

Across the street from Omni Rancho Las Palmas, which is convenient. Range of restaurants from fast food, family friendly to upscale dinner for two. Nail shop that was large and conveniently located. Starbucks fix within walking distance is always a plus!

Like most outdoor malls. Restaurants and shopping. There are more restaurants than places to shop, really. So, parking in the evening can be gruesome. However, they offer valet, if you want to pay. Nice landscaping and actually a relaxing environment

Great restaurants and cinema, with good retail and services (e.g., USPS and Verizon Wireless store). Centrally located in the Valley. Patrons would be advised to make advance reservations for evening dining at the better restaurants during season.

With its many restaurants, modern movie theatre and and beautiful scenery including a man-made river running through out, you wont find a better place in the Palm Desert for a good meal, shopping or catching a movie!

This place has amazing restaurants and a movie theater. However, its a ghost town of vacant stores. They need new management asap to salvage this place. Their rent is either too high or management too difficult.

The parking at this place is atrocious. Build a parking garage or stop charging $8 for valet...ridiculous. Your merchants suffer because no one wants to come here and spend hours looking for a spot
