Absolute Kudos to the owners of the Point Reyes Bookstore for their inventory which strongly features themes of environmental stewardship and respect for the natural world. I was very impressed with their prominent display of titles focused on the Local Foods movement this summer. The shop is small and very much packed from floor to ceiling with books and I really appreciate the fact that they carry many used books as this gives one a chance to find volumes that may be out of print. Their selection of books about the local natural world is first rate and their Native American section is much appreciated. The childrens section is rather small and there seems to be a pretty big contingent of new-age-type books which arent of personal interest to me, but overall, the Point Reyes Bookstore does a good job of stocking a diverse inventory. Staff is friendly and helpful and the shop sometimes hosts author chats which is very pleasant for the community. This is an excellent local business to support. May they enjoy many more years of useful service in Point Reyes Station.

I work at a bookstore myself (Copperfields Books in Sonoma County) and cant pass by a bookstore without popping in. Why would I need to buy books elsewhere? Ill tell you why -- this store, with both new and used books, had quirky, interesting used titles in all their sections, and I couldnt resist their prices. I bought used books in psychology, kids, eastern religion, and fiction. I found Point Reyes a tourist town that is not particularly welcoming to tourists, with public restrooms hard to find, indifferent service, and difficult public parking on a weekday (perhaps employees park in front of their stores all day because its free?), but this bookstore made it all worthwhile. I cant imagine going to Point Reyes again without stopping here. This store has "the owners touch," with the sensibility of one who reads and who truly loves books.

Great little bookstore, popped in to buy a book... Everything was swell until we went to check out and met the sales clerk. We asked how her day was going she barked back with a nasty tone. Continued to snap comments at us and was overall rude. Very disappointed in the service, definitely wont be back. Would think a small bookstore would be happy to have us and friendly to its customers, I usually love supporting small independent business.

Surprisingly large and varied selection of books from local, regional, and national authors. I was looking specifically for a book about Bolinas (“The Town That Fought to Save Itself”) and while they didn’t have it in stock, the gentleman working the front desk was friendly and helpful. Not only is the selection quite large, but the do a great job at selecting and placing the books in interesting arrangements.

I live 3 miles from this bookstore. Its always a joy to stop by. They have a wonderful collection of books. They always greet you with a smile and are very helpful. My 2 and 4 year old really like it as well. My favorite is their nature and wildlife section.

Great little treasure of a book nook. We stop here every time we visit Pt Reyes, which is several times a year. Our six-year-old daughter chooses one book and treasures it for months as its usually a classic literary tale. Love this place. :-)

This is not only an exceptional independent bookshop, but also the organizer of a continuing series of local appearances by nationally-known authors and the annual Geography of Hope literary conference.

Good general bookstore, both new and secondhand books. Books are well chosen. Not many bargains to be had, though.
