I have never experienced customer service this poor at any other business I have ever been to. I was doing a favor for my wife, and buying her school books that she needed. One of the books had two options. Option A was buying the book without the software that came with it. Option B was buying the book with the software that came with it. I thought to myself that nobody ever uses the software, and score Option A had a USED book that I could buy for even less than the Option A brand new book. So I bought that thinking that I could bring it back a few days later if my wife actually did want the brand new book with the software inside it. Turns out my wife did need the software, so I thought it wouldnt be a problem and we could just return it. Turns out I was wrong. Turns out that the book store "would never sell a book in that condition" but alas they did sell it in that condition. I even brought my ORIGINAL receipt, but at the Portland State University bookstore that apparently doesnt matter. Casey was the employee who told us that we could not return the book. Casey said that it looked like to him like we were "trying to pull one over on him." Hmmm the problem with Caseys scenario is that we were returning a book with the ORIGINAL receipt for around $60 and purchasing a brand EXACT SAME book with software for $112. For the life of me I cant see where the Casey the smart employee thought that was trying to pull one over on him. Obviously I purchased the book in the first place, and obviously I was trying to buy a more expensive book. How in the world would I come out on top of that deal? I have never in my life been treated as poorly as Casey and his manager Sara treated me. I will never purchase books from here again. I will from now on always go to the other bookstore off campus, or order books online.

Outrageous prices, horrible customer service. Very rude employees that dont seem very interested in anything but carrying on their own conversations or reading while you are standing there waiting to be served. Called to find out some information about a textbook since PSU doesnt have that information in an official form anywhere, I was flat out told that they would not tell me anything because it might "help me buy my book somewhere else." Had to go to another schools website in order to get the information I needed. I had planned on buying several textbooks this term at the Portland State Bookstore, but that has changed now. Found every book Ive needed listed elsewhere for at least 20% less. Even at other private bookstores at other schools. I will never use this bookstore ever again.

I am currently a senior marketing student at Portland State SBA. I started looking around online for some books and realized that PSU often times marks their book up 100% in some cases. For instance I went to buy a mktg research book that PSU wanted $205.00 for and was able to find it online for $47.00 dollars, granted this was some seller in Thailand and I needed quick so I kept looking. I was able to find the same book at Powells for $100.00. With this information I started looking around for the remaining books I needed for the term and was able to save around $400.00. So please look around first, it disgusts me that the university does this on top of raising tuition on what seems like a regular basis.

I understand why theres a textbook return cut-off date, but its ridiculous that theres not a system in place for people who purchase a textbook after that date has passed. I called 4 days after I purchased a book, before Id even opened it, to see if you would match an online competitors price (as your "Best Price Promise" clearly states you do). I didnt even want to return the book; I just wanted a portion of what I paid refunded to match the better price I found, but your associate said it couldnt be done. Youve lost the next 4 years of my business just so you could keep my $15 now. This is the exact opposite of good customer service, and such pointless policies will cost you business in the future.

I will no longer give my service to the PSU Bookstore. They left me out $170 as a Freshman. When purchasing a new book for $170, they told me that they would buy it back and that I should not rent, so I listened. Now, they will not buy it back and Im stuck in a rut. They are not looking to help students save money, but to get the most money out of you before you have a chance to know better. Please stay away from them.

Like most college bookstores, most of the time they charge a good amount more than what you can find online. Talk to your professors and see if theyll let you use an older edition of the book for class; some understand how overpriced text books are. Then go buy it for $20 online instead of $200 at the PSU bookstore.

The website is broken and will not allow students to purchase books, the bookstore is not associated with Portland State, but rather another company called Neebo. This is false advertising and this bookstore should not be able to use the Portland State name. Overall a terrible experience

Hours should be longer; overpriced and owned by the book selling arm of a for profit company; the university should own its own bookstore not sell it off to the Nebraska book exchange. (Which doesnt have the best support anyway)

Very expensive books. They often do not buy books which were bought the term before because they claim they arent being used anymore. Why charge students so much for books when they have to spend so much for school as is.

Customer service is great, textbook rental program and book buyback program is comparable or under priced compared to other campus bookstores....always have what is on for the term or can order what you need!!

Their selections are very good for just about everything and the prices are usually competitive. The actual books are spendy here though and be prepared to wait in long lines at the beginning and end of term.

Like most university book stores you end up paying too much. Try online sites such as amazon for better book deals. If you like conveniences this is the place for you. If money matters go somewhere else.

Your price match "promise" is ridiculous and not helpful at all. Your return policy is also unreasonable considering students are still adjusting their schedules and classes for the first 2 weeks.

Trying to get the form to order book for my Fall term class. Left four messages and one more call to textbook person (2) and assist.mgrs. (2). No response - are you closed?

Return policy is unreasonable and not comparable to other stores. I will buy online next time, so that if I have to change my courses, I can still return my books.

The textbooks are overpriced like most school stores. The staff upstairs in the computer section are very nice and friendly. The. Textbook staff arent very nice.
