i have been living in pleasenton for five years and never shop at this pirticular location. today was was doughters birthday . i ordered a cake from the bakary by phone yesterday, white cake with custered and strawbery today i picked up the cake and when my doughter cut the cake it was whipped cream not custred.i called the store and told them, she said bring your reciept and the cake, i said what do i serve these kids, she said bring some of the back. so i did, they called the manager and a lady about 20 years old came after 15 min. told her the story, she put her hand on her waist and told me what do you want. i said you made a mistake and i want my money, she said i can not give you your money you have eaten most of the cake, i said it is not the 22.00 dollers, it is just the principle. it is stupid to treat a customer like this for 20 bucks, do you think i would drive 20 min, to come to store for 20 bucks. she said you called my stupid and i will not do any thing and she walked away. that is fine ,there is more but my time and yours are worth far more than this. i will never go to the store and i will tell all my friend how i was treated. and i am sure this matter could have been taken care of much better.

The worst customer service ever. Blanca, one of the store cashiers with attitude, even acts like the cost of those ten cent paper bags come out of her own pocket, not. When I complained to the store manager, her customer service was equally as bad, saying every bag is accounted for and if they give you an extra bag without charging you an extra ten cents per bag, YOU are stealing from them! I had to walk my groceries that she, Blanca filled to the brim in one bag, all the way home, which is 4 blocks. She knew I was walking home and didnt have the decency to double bag it, but instead ring up another transaction for a stupid ten cent bag?! I didnt have spare change and didnt want to run a ten cent transaction on my debit card for a stupid bag. When I told her its poor customer service, she had the nerve to say it wasnt and even belittle me to the other customers, as if I was too cheap to afford to pay ten cents (Im sure I make 3x what she makes, if not more). Its absolutely poor customer service, no ifs or ands about it, and I will never shop here again. Raleys, Trader Joes, and even Wal-Mart neighborhood grocery store (urgh), here I come!

I only shop here under duress, and it usually has the effect of increasing my duress. Setting aside the stupid club card concept, which deserves a diatribe far more detailed than the space available for this review, the customer service here is pretty terrible. Say youre looking for something that you cant find due to awful signage and silly floorplan, the chances of finding someone to help you ... well, it took me 10 minutes of random walking to find anyone with a safeway badge. At which point, me: "So where is the aluminum foil?" Him: "You mean, what aisle?" Hard to think of a good comeback to that. And then when its time to checkout, and youre dealing with your credit card after everything has been scanned, the scanner person looks totally put upon at the thought that she might be expected to bag the six items you bought. I really dont know why Im giving this place two stars instead of one. I suppose I must be feeling generous with Christmas around the corner.

"Closed for stocking" one night when posted hours are 24/7. We walked in and shopped the whole store before someone refused to ring us up because they were "closed for stock/inventory" KEEP TO YOUR POSTED HOURS OF OPERATION! Also had a white woman stare at and "report" my hispanic boyfriend to a safeway employee as a possible criminal for just walking while brown near her child. It would have been tasteful of the employee to shut down her racist comments and use their white privilege to educate a racist white person at that moment but they didnt take the opportunity.

Its a Safeway. Prices are very high, produce is mediocre at best, and the attempt at creating small "upscale" zones in the store feels superficial. They dont carry higher-grade meats, and this store loses an extra star for me, because I was told by the butchers that "theres no such thing" as USDA Prime brisket. Wrong. I could hardly keep from laughing out loud at them. Alternatively, you can waltz over to Costco in Livermore and buy several legit Prime beef cuts any day of the week, and Costcos organic produce is hands-down fresher and more flavorful.

Overpriced. Ridiculous "member" discounts grocery chain where you have to have a silly free membership card. Had a similar store brand in the Midwest that did away with this nonsense years ago. For this location in particular, youll almost always wait in a checkout line as they seldom have more than a couple open, dont have anyone bagging, and move at a snails pace. Incredible that they wont spend a couple hundred bucks a day on more staff for a better consumer experience. The staff on hand has always been very courteous.

This place need a major update and with the customer service. Its Sunday afternoon when everyone does your shopping for the week. Guess what comma you have poor people in one line if 8 people in another line and have about 10 people and another line. Safeway went to hell in a handbasket when they sold it. I think its about time that we start shopping at Raleys. At least they have a friendly customer service

Alex, the self-checkout guy, did a phenomenal job handling our haphazard transaction. And the best part of it? He handled it professionally, a rarity amongst cashiers in Alameda county. I heartily concur that Alex should be recommended to a management position based on his ability to negotiate tough transactions, holiday hassle, and just plain good sense.

Couldnt find any mushroom brei, so we asked the people working at the Deli; they glared and pointed us to the olives. Asked for non-alcoholic beer; they looked at us like we were crazy and referred us to regular beer. After those two uncomfortable incidents, we had to go elsewhere to find our items and were afraid to ask for any more help.

The service is very lackluster at times the employees are young kids forming little circles of them talking and blatantly ignoring customers. But my main gripe is the deli, the food is sometimes undercooked, or overcooked, the chickens are very slimy at times. All in all its a very dissaponting store.

Over priced for same things you can get elsewhere cheaper. Lady actually bothered us for not having a card? We told her we were visiting from out of state..."well dont you have Safeways there?"...um, no we dont. Psst, ditch the cards, pass the savings on to everyone, all the time.
