I was in need of a new wheelbarrow, so I went to my local Ace Hardware Store in Marina, California on the 17th of June, 2014. They had several wheelbarrows on display outside the store. My wife and I picked out the wheelbarrow that we liked and went inside to get one. Just our luck...they didnt have one in stock. I should have just left and went to Home Depot right then, but, I decided to go ahead and give Ace Hardware my business anyway. The man I talked to said he could order one and have it there within 10 days. I went ahead and paid him in cash for a steel wheelbarrow on the 17th of June. He said it would be in the store for pickup on the 27th of June. I was in the area of the store today (June 27th) and decided to drop in and see if my wheelbarrow was there. No one could find my wheelbarrow. They looked all over the place and finally someone came up front with a clipboard with the order information just to find out no one had even called in my order. My God, what kind of a place does business like this? The person I talked to said he would call in the order tomorrow. I told them that I wanted them to put a rush order on it. He said he would try but couldnt guarantee it. Obviously, I was very disappointed with Ace Hardware. I should have just gotten a refund and went on over to Home Depot. I am still in disbelief

Originally, I purchased a large two-gallon crock from Ace Hardware online, and it was delivered to this store for pick up. When I got to the store, the folks there were a bit too talkative for my liking. By that, I mean, they got very inquisitive about things that have nothing to do with my business there (as if they were pretending to have known me for years). Maybe that is the nature of Ace Hardware, but Im uncomfortable talking to people I dont know - especially about my career, how long Ive lived here, etc. Once I got the crock, I took it home in the well-packaged box. When I opened it up, it was cracked all the way through. When I went back to the store to return it, no one seemed to know what to do or how to return an item that was purchased through their online store. It took me almost two full weeks to get my refund. It did go through, but it took two trips to the store (and one of the employees asked if I could come back another day to return it).

I shop here OFTEN (> 5 x each week) and find that the staff is courteous and eager to assist. The new or younger staff always seem to be under some sort of training by the experienced staff, which I consider a PLUS. There is always enough staff on hand, even near closing, to assist you with your purchase as soon as you enter the front door . I cant recall any time in the last 3 years shopping there I did not receive a welcome AND a request to assist me within the first minute or two. Although they do not carry the inventory of the large stores, which I also shop... I find the Marina California ACE Hardware Store is an excellent example of superior customer service. BTW, the fastener selection which is my most common purchase is very good for the size of the store.

Ace is the place for local hardware needs.. The selection isnt extensive but manageable for those quick remedies to lifes problems. Not always the lowest price but convience does have a price. Ace is the PLACE!
