I went to this Safeway over the recent Halloween weekend when my crew rented a house in the Redwoods. The store is a decent size, but it has not been remodeled in awhile I think. Compared to the Safeway in Daly City or at Market and Church in San Francisco, it looks old and dated. The staff is friendly, however, and a very nice cashier helped me out when I went to buy some champagne for our celebration and had forgotten my identification.That was really nice because the store was about 30 min away from our rental. I was happy to see that the cashier took one look at my balding head and realized that I am no where near 21 yrs of age. At the Safeway in Berkeley at Shattuck and Rose, the cashiers are trained to never sell to anyone if they do not have an identification. I get it. They dont want to sell to minors. But it really upsets me when someone of my age gets carded just because there is a policy. I believe in common sense over technicalities. The product selection at this Safeway is pretty good, though it does not have as many specialty items as some of the larger Safeways in and around San Francisco. The store was very busy, but they had tons of cashiers, so the wait in line was not long at all considering how crowded the place was on Halloween.

I havent bumped on a impolite staff there all very helpful trying their best. Hoever I had a situation at the hot food the lady was nice I was disturbed by seeing her touching her nose with gloves on then touching her ear then touching food. I thunk it was more of a nervous habit developed thru out her life but it did not set well. In general the got food area from what I sow is not well maintained and unhelthy. I wish staff removes their aprons when going to the bathrooms , change their gloves with every order and keep really clean and separate meat and dairy knives . The towels the knives are getting cleaned looked filthy same knife that cuts meat sanwitch cuts dairy. The bakery department people are really nice they will do their best to accommodate your needs! As well as the seafood department fresh seafood . cashiers are really nice as well. Its a busy safe way it gets stressful for staff it is the only market that you can get produce :) well there is a couple small places but you can get whatever you need when you are camping or visiting . its nice to know if you need simple things there is a place where to get it from in a woodsy beautiful area!:)

Unfortunately, for the people of Guerneville and West Sonoma county Safeway is the only game in town. It was horrible before it was bought out last year but it is worse now. The new outfit increased the price by 25 to 50 percent on most items. The lines are not as long as before but they can still get long and I have walked out several times rather than stand in the very long lines. Since this is a tourist town it seems like they just dont understand how to manage the place. .Most of the locals now go out of town to buy our food. Why buy the lower quality safeway items when you can go to Trader Joe and for the same price or less buy better quality. Obviously the new company has to pay for the purchase so they put the price up. Before a buy out or merger takes place the regulators need to look at the effect that these very mega mergers have. What ever happen to the notion that a company can be "too big" and the damage the damage they do to the industry and local populations. The basic economic laws are no longer viable in the areas where one company owns everything.

Absolutely horrible management. Long lines with all the checkers off stocking shelves instead of running the registers. Bakery has a register but it is almost always impossible to pay there, even for a single pastry at 8:00 am. Dont count on even the basics at the deli, even if you can get an employee to stop in the middle of a personal conversation to serve you. With their super high prices an non-existent service, stay away if you possibly can.

I am the 7th person in line...the only other register open has over 8 people in its line...I love yhese workers, but something needs to change. When I see all these customers saying this is how it always is, it lets this store know that they are doing something wrong. I usually go to Santa Rosa and shop because of the inability this store has in servicing the people here. Please take note and enforce the changes needed to make this store great.

Im not sure if its corprate or the management here, I suspect corprate. but as long as I have lived out here. This store has ALWAYS been a nightmare. The staff are clearly overworked. The lines are always at least a 10 min plus wait. Customer service is always a hunt down. the prices are hiked up. etc... we need a better store.

I was outraged with this guerville Safeway !!! The girl working in Starbucks was very rude to me,for no appearnt reason; her name was Erica. I was also at the customer service desk for almost 45 minutes before being asked if I needed anything very rudely.I and other friends are boycotting this Safeway.thank you for your time.

There are no self service registers. The registers are often understaffed and you typically spend more time waiting in line than shopping. The front of the store and register area are chaotic messes of temporary displays that block traffic and make shopping difficult. Dont use the restrooms, unless it is a dire emergency.

Staff is nice enough, there are just not enough of them. The place cant handle the crowds, lines are usually super long and there are no self check out registers. Also; compared to the Safeway in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa they dont have as much product choices. Which is odd if you look at how many shoppers they get.

I really just need something to go in Safeway they rip you off and then give you a card to get some what normal pricing! and what use to be buy 1 get 1 free is now buy 4 get 2 free ect. I get 12 pack soda for 3.33 at Food Max and their gimmicks still dont beat thier pricing and they are nation wide?

This is a smallish Safeway that has always had what I needed. I only ever go when I am camping and they seem pretty aware of their tourist client. They are always super helpful and very nice (even though we campers are suuuper annoying).

New night cashier named Linda. At least she says her name was Linda. No name tag. She did not look at me or say anything until I asked her if she normally refused to look at or speak to customers. Her response was rude at best.

have been shopping here for years, the checkers are all nice, but there are NEVER enough people working, have to stand in line a long time, every time, and NOONE to help you find an item..this has been going on for years now..

I shop at this Safeway several times a week. The staff is helpful and friendly. There are plenty of specials and sales for the budget minded. The store is always clean and well stocked. The manager is always available.
