Bad, dishonest service experience. Im going to be as objective as possible in describing my experience with MotoScoot. I brought my moped in to be serviced by them not even two weeks ago. I just purchased the moped, and knew that it needed some work, but I wasnt sure what. I knew that the electric start did not work and it just didnt run very well. I described these issues over the phone to the guy at Moto Scoot, and he told me that I could drop off the bike for them to work on, and hed give me a call to let me know what was wrong, how much it would cost to fix, and the day for pickup (he estimated one week). Pretty standard protocol for a shop. So, I dropped the bike off, and went on my way. The man at Moto Scoot told me that if the repairs were to cost more than $100, he would give me a call as well, just to let me know. Several days passed with no call from them. Not even a call to let me know how much the job would be! So, I had to call them to see what was going on. Heres where things get interesting... I called on the sixth day after I dropped off the moped (I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt), and, but of course, my moped just happened to get finished that day!! (Yeah, ok.) I also asked him over the phone how much the service cost, and that I was surprised that I had never received a phone call to inform me of the cost or to let me know if the cost would be greater than $100. The guy acted as if he never heard about the phone call if the service would be over $100 (HIS IDEA in the first place, not mine). When I asked him to let me know how much it was then, how much did he charge? EXACTLY $100. (of course.) So, I go to pick up the moped. It takes them literally 25 minutes to locate my moped, and once they find one, they ARENT EVEN SURE IF IT IS MINE. And understand, I literally just purchased this moped, and had it dropped at their shop by a third party. So I am not even sure what it looks like. I pay my $100, and hop on the bike that we deduced is mine to go home, aaaand the bike stalls out. I try to start the bike with the electric start. No luck. Bring the bike back to the shop, guy says the carb is dirty, so he sprays some carb cleaner in the carb, and tells me that I need a new battery (more money). I do it, and finally am on my way. Fast forward two weeks. Moped battery has died (again) Electric start doesnt work. When kickstarted, the bike dies out at the slightest touch of the throttle. So, WHAT DID I PAY FOR?! IT SEEMS LIKE MOTO SCOOT TOOK $140 FROM ME, AND DID NO WORK! HORRIBLE SERVICE. VERY DISHONEST. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MOTO SCOOT.

Sorry for the long review. At the end of February I purchased a new 2013 Madass fully upgraded. The person I was working with was very friendly and helpful at first. I had a very busy schedule at that time and I was amazed when he told me that the scooter should arrive in 5-7 days. I waited until the 7th day before contacting Moto to ask for an update. They had not even started on the scooter which was not a big deal but I wish they had told me. I asked when I should expect the scooter to ship and they again stated the end of the week. Again I called at the end of the week and still no progress. I finally convinced them to ship out the scooter and received it two weeks after the expected date. I was a little frustrated but it was not a huge deal. The scooter seemed to be in good condition until I reached 100 miles. After changing the oil, I noticed blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. The smoke was thought to be the oil sealing the valves but it continued to be a problem. I contacted Moto and they said to take it to someone even though there was no warranty shop around and they would take care of the parts. I also had the rear brake lock up a few times. The scooter shop nearby found that the rear brake locked up because there was no lock-nut and the screw was backed out constantly applying the brake. It was a scary safety concern and I was just glad the brake did not lock up while I was riding. The blue smoke ended up being an oil leak from an improperly installed o-ring between the case and cylinder causing the bike to burn a lot of oil. It took more time than necessary to get Moto to supply parts (which they said they would supply) for the repair which was to replace the top end of the engine. The most frustrating part is the inaccurate dishonest information and lack of any sort of customer service. The service department just kept talking about how much it was costing them for the repair but no sort of sympathy or willingness to work with you. I waited 4 months for parts during the summer and had to call multiple times for an update which I never got an honest answer for. Moto continuously told me the parts were on the way and the next week they said the parts were on back order. I would have been fine with all of this if they had just been honest with me. If you want a new scooter or service from an honest establishment that wont play around with your money and time I would not shop here.

I bought a used Ruckus on Craigslist 2 years ago. (Weve 5 drivers in the house, 3 of them teenagers, and only 3 cars.) Runs great. Lots of fun. It started to get loud, not the muffler, something in the motor/gearbox. I called Moto-Scoot "sure we work on Hondas, but we have a 2 week wait". Im an understanding guy and bring it in on Monday June 21st and theyll call me in "2 weeks" No call.. I call on Thursday July 8 " We were just about to call you, something is shot with the motor. Might need a rebuild or a new motor" "How much?" I ask. " Could be $400" "OK" I say. Hell, what are my options. "2 more weeks" he says. I stopped by yesterday (July 26) to see how its going. "We havent touched it. Its gonna be another week at least. Were very busy. When someone says 2 weeks they dont really mean it." "So if someone says $400, they dont really mean it?" I ask. "When do want to pick up your bike?" he asks. "Tomorrow" is my reply. Picked up today and took it to an actual Honda dealer. So if you need scooter storage, try Moto Scoot on Water Street..36 days, no charge. No service, but no charge. PART TWO... So I took my Ruckus to a Honda dealer and they called me the NEXT DAY with a detailed written estimate...the motor is toast and repairs (worst case scenario) would be $650 for parts and $550 for labor... $1200 total. Even if an authorized Honda dealer charges a 50% premium over an independent shop (probably more like 25%), the job would still be $800 ($960).. So I guess the guy at Moto Scoot must have realized that his initial estimate of $400 was WAY too low and would rather be seen as a rude jerk than incompetent businessman, incapable of accurately estimating the cost of a job.
