This place is terrible. The staff is very stuck up. I went to shoot at their range, and after firing a few hundred rounds through my gun, I had a malfunction. The trigger did not pull the hammer. I went to the counter, and the fellow told me that I was in luck because the gunsmith was in! How lucky! I walked back to his shop and he met me at the door, looked me up and down, saw my gun case, and just said, "nope." I thought surely he was joking, and I asked him if he was. "Nope. I dont work on those guns. Theyre crap." It was Groucho Marx levels of absurdity. Marx famously said, "I would never be a part of a club that would have me as a member." Here we had a gunsmith who was essentially saying that he was unwilling to fix a gun that would require repair. Hes a real man of principle. Class act. I went home, took the grip off, and found a spring had come out of alignment, quickly fixed it, and replaced the grip. The whole repair took me two minutes. He could have charged me $20 for two minutes of work, instead he denied me service because my firearm was beneath him. Consider it par for this establishment and take you business elsewhere. Right in town, you have Bills, and not far to the south is Cabelas. When people ask me where to buy or shoot guns, my stock answer will be, "not Midwest Shooters Supply."

In reading the reviews before purchasing here, I was a bit apprehensive. After purchasing several handguns here over the past year, and having been here numerous times, I have always had very good to excellent service. I think some of you confuse staff arrogance with strong opinions they may have on an individual firearm-related topic (because they have a lot of experience). But then I dont get offended very easily. I have noticed staff brushing some people off a little bit, but my unprofessional opinion was that in those cases, the "buyer" was not buying and had no rhyme or reason to what they were looking at. There is a ton of information online. The prices at MWSS are VERY reasonable. You know theyre going to be busy, so do yourself and them a favor and do your research ahead of time, THEN go ask questions. I am far from an expert on firearms, and the service Ive gotten has always been just fine. I will continue to purchase firearms from them without hesitation and with great confidence. I am a busy person with a very limited amount of free time, and I respect their straightforward style--I appreciate their efficiency in conducting my transactions, as well as the honest, no BS way of doing business.

Store has a fantastic selection of hunting gear and shooting supplies, although some displays are a bit disheveled. Customer service is absolutely abysmal. I would have purchased a .45 auto and I also found a pre-owned Ruger M77 in their display. I was in the store approximately 1 and 1/2 hours and was not at all acknowledged by a store employee! It appears that youre bothering them just by taking up space in "their" store. The final 20 mins, (after I decided to purchase the aforementioned items), was spent at the counter waiting for either the older gentleman to finish reading his magazine to assist me or the other fellow chit-chatting with a friend to help. I finally got the attention of the "too busy reading his magazine man", and got a terse "You can wait until hes done with his customer!" for a response. I just shook my head, headed for door. I will never shop here again, and would recommend to everyone; pick another store for you hunting and shooting supplies. Dont waste your time standing around their store, hoping that youre chosen to be worthy of their attention!

When looking at this store from the outside you may get the feeling that this must be a very well stocked and staffed facility, one that can be the new go-to for shooting related needs. Well you better take that feeling and throw it out the window because this place is the exact opposite. Youd expect a store with the name shooters supply to have a pretty decent stock of various types of ammunition at reasonable prices. They are very limited and are ridiculously priced. I have come back at different times looking for ammo that they still dont have. Cabelas ammo selection blows this place out of the water. By far the worst aspect of this store is the staff. If there actually comes a time when they feel like helping out you can expect attitude. Snarky remarks and a clear disinterest in helping seems to be the norm here. There are a select few staff members that are polite and knowledgeable, but the others just absolutely soil their reputation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this store unless absolutely necessary.

I am unhappy. I am new to guns. And I went in there and told the person i was new to guns and never owned one before. he went right for the 22lr and told me this is a good starter gun. Ok so i bought it 410.00 it came to with the background check. Now i find out from my friends that i could of gotten a .380 for the same price and its a better starting gun. Or if i wanted to go right into a glock for about 100.00 more. I feel like i have been abused for being new. I cant even shoot this thing since i cant find 22lr ammo. something else they did not tell me. So im sure they seen me coming and sold me there 22lr pistol to get rid of it because how hard ammo is to find for it. Wish i would of known that when i got the fun. spend 410.00 and cant find ammo to shoot it. oh boy. I got this gun back in Feb and still have not shoot it. again cant find ammo.

Will never go back. Unless your intention is to buy a high-end gun that they have in stock, forget it. With a huge store that calls themselves Midwest Shooters SUPPLY they really should have decent selection of reloading components..what a joke! Not even many of the basics...are you kidding me? They do have have a wide selection of crap/gimmickry if thats your thing. Santa Claus (the so-called gunsmith) is a bias jerk, I wouldnt take a BB to this guy for work. With the exception of the knowldgeable, tall, thin guy with goutee, Id Id fire evreryone of them. Its always nice to shoot a gun comparabe to your intended purchase but these "rentals" are absolute junk, all in an effort to steer you toward their high end guns. . I had enough green cash along to buy any gun they had but Ill opt elsewhere. Rude, arrogant pricks! If there was a way to give less than 1 star, I would.

My experience was not good; careful with Midwest Shooters layaway purchases. Midwest Shooters took one of my old guns in trade, giving me $300 for it, as a down payment on a new gun which I wanted to pay for on layaway. Their layaway agreement included a $50 charge for cancellations, which I understood. But when I cancelled the layaway purchase, Midwest Shooters only refunded the cash I paid toward the gun (less the $50). I got nothing in return for the value of the gun I gave them in trade. I was told that my trade-in was used to reduce the purchase price of the new gun, and it was never part of what I paid them. My contention is that they took my trade-in and sold it, and when I cancelled my purchase, I should receive something back for the value of that trade-in.
