This is the best (and I think only) option for hardware on the west side of Yakima. Steins has long been a foundation in the area and strives for the small customer oriented feel. They certainly deliver on that! Steins has a decent selection of basic items that you would expect at a medium sized hardware store. No, they probably dont stock that obscure part for your project, but they have all the basics plus some. Their fastener (nails, screws, bolts, etc.) options are fantastic and rival that of the major big box hardware stores. Even better, they have an option to purchase "nails by the pound" which allows you to buy the right amount of nails for cheap! This is my favorite feature of the store! Since it seems like I always need a nail thats 1/4 longer than any that I have, this is great to have nearby. I give this place 4/5 stars because the lumber area is pretty lacking. Theyve got some plywood options and basic dimensional lumber options, but its marginal. I dont expect a major indoor lumberyard, but I wasnt impressed by what I found. I did find a good sheet of plywood, but it took a little searching. The hours on Saturday and Sunday also leave something to be desired. Theyre open until 8am-6pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday - which is opening 2 hours later and closing several hours earlier than the big box store. Theyve lost a LOT of my business simply because they arent open. Prices are definitely a bit more than the big box stores, but there is almost always someone asking you if they can help you find what you are looking for. Ill pay a tad extra for local and service. This is a great option in West Valley for your hardware needs. For fasteners, there arent many better options around!

The staff is always helpful pretty knowledgeable about whatever it is I am working on. The rewards program is cool because you get coupons. They have pretty much everything the big stores have but it is soooo much easier to shop here than the big stores.

By far the best hardware store in town. Great and friendly staff, if you come in a lot most times they know you by name. Almost everything you need for a project they have it, and the best part of it all is the Owens Meat Machine.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff. They seem to have everything (even the specialty odd stuff). Their prices are surprisingly competitive with larger retailers. Whoever is running that place knows what they are doing.
