Long lines. Always long lines. It doesnt matter if its Sunday afternoon or Tuesday morning. We actually got into the long lines before the ice storm and it was truly an abominable wait time just to check out. Yes, just to give these people our money. They never have enough lines open. Some of the checkers are friendly enough but most of them went to the "I dont really care" school of customer service. This Safeway celebrates grocery shopping with California prices. The selection is a little better than some other stores in Vancouver but the prices are high and, did I mention, the lines to check out are always super long? Beer and liquor are stacked all over the store. So if youre looking for booze be sure to look all around. Craft beer is separate from domestic swill. Wine can be found in a number of different places throughout the store. If theyre running specials booze and beer will be everywhere but where you think theyll be. The produce appears to be pretty fresh and weve had no problems with it. The meat section is small and expect to find mostly pre-packaged goods. Im not sure if they have a butcher on staff at all times or not. Bakery is adequate and usually offers fresh items. The cake makers try to be helpful and I havent seen any cake wrecks come out of this place recently. The usual hot dishes are available in another section of the store. Vancouverites can get their Jojos, sweet-and-sour chicken and corn dogs all at this location. The biggest bonus of this Safeway? Its proximity to New Vansterdam and one of the finest local used bookstores, Vintage Books. Pick up your weed, something to read and then a snack from Safeway. But be prepared to wait in those goddamn long lines…

I had 16 dollars left on my debit card. I simply went in to this store to buy a donut for 75 cents and get 15 dollalors cashback (i lost a bet and owed someone 15 dollars). Ive been in this store before and have done cashback and i even told the lady i wanted cashback but she ran my card as credit and told me she couldnt do anything about it. So than i went to another cashier who insisted i could do cash back but told me i had to purchase another item because donuts are throwaway items. So i purchased a pack of gum for a dollar and told her to make sure i could do cashback before i ran my card. She said okay and i ended up running my card again and again i dodnt get cash back. This is very inconvient because now ive basically spent more money than i needed to because of card fees when all i was intending to do was go into the store and puchase something for 75 cents and get 15 cash back. Than i called to complain and i was pretty pissed off so while i was talking i was cursing not at the manager but out of frustration. The manager Amanda told me "were not a bank and you need to stop cussing or Im gonna call the cops." like seriosly? How did this lady become a manager? And right when i was gonna ask her for the customer service number she hung up mid way through me talking. This is extremly frustrating not so much the amount of money but the repeated mistakes and than how unprofessional the management at that store is. Hopefully the problem is solved in the future but that was a terrible experience and a bad reflection of the store employees.

On a positive note, some of the employees are very pleasant and helpful, mostly some of the checkers and in meat/seafood. The rest of them are either borderline incompetent, disinterested, completely unavailable, or shuffle about in a state of despair, as if theyre in purgatory. However, to be fair, this is something not unique to this Safeway, its actually something endemic to all Safeway stores. Wait times are usually horrendous. I have often counted more than a dozen people in line at once. I have also on several occasions heard checkers making rude or disparaging remarks to or about customers. Not cool. Prices are usually far above their competitors, although they often have some very good sale items and deals, if you have a Safeway club card. To be clear, I shop almost every day. I know when and where to find the best deals and how to save money, as money is tight. I have a regular rotation of 8 to 10 different stores I shop with, and to be honest, I rarely look forward to shopping here. Bottom line - tolerable, but serious room for improvement.

I had a bad experience here in the meat department, wrong price rung up, meat counter was not familiar with ad, bakery did not have loose rolls, no bagged red potatoes in produce, they did have nice salads, customer service being ignored when trying to get money on wrong ring up. I have them a 3 star because the manager called me personally, was very apologetic and made things right. Thank tou, I will shop there again. I just went there, manager in a meeting, front end manager ignored us, went to buy petitie steaks on sale, there were 4 pks in end base, all picked over, marginal, the meat cade was empty of them, left, bought nothing

Horrible customer service, they didnt like that I was an Oregon resident and the check out management was huffing and giving me the bad look because I had her take of the taxes and didnt put my Safeway card in, she was more concerned about how fast she was then my experience as a new customer...they take for ever to answer their phones in any department as well except pharmacy..!!!!! i was excited to find a Safeway location but came out with irritable mood and disappointed very much...

A lot of Safeways prices are a bit steep for me, but I like catching their sales, and I often find some great buys in the relatively new "clearance" meat section. The people at Safeway are almost always friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and accomodating. Very nice how they will often walk with you clear across the store to help you find something youre looking for. Easy to return things when necessary as long as I have my receipt & bring the item back soon after purchase.

As far as grocery stores go, we could have a worse one close to the house. Preferred over the local Walmart for groceries. Theres usually a great selection, which is a good thing since Im counting calories right now. There would be five stars, but it seems like there are never enough lanes open for the customers they have. I have always been greeted politely and with a smile, though.

The store is clean, well lit - but as with all Safeways - there are long lines at the cash register. They are trying to fix this - but as of this review its still a work in progress. (Hint: Starbucks inside the store will check your groceries for you if not to many and theyre not busy.)

Was at costumer service no one was helping out because Memorial Day 5/29/2017 short stuff not even I am sorry I cant help you or someone else will be with you. So much for caring about their customers. Dont go here on holiday. Stuff was rude. No manager or shift supervisor anywhere.

Its clean and stocked. What drives me nuts about Safeway is that the prices are high and the lines are always (ALWAYS) long because they only open one or two lines. Ive put my stuff down and left more than once. The Starbucks girls are nice and fast there though.
