Incredibly disappointed with the way my Grandmother was treated here by an employee today. My grandmother is both psychically and mentally disabled. Today I brought her to Winco so she could get some groceries. It is over 100 degrees today, and unfortunately the ac in my car is broken till Monday. So I took her to this Winco, the closest grocery store to her home. Needless to say we were both incredibly hot when we got there. We quickly made our way to the freezer isle, and almost immediately witnessed another employee accidentally spill his entire cart of packaged string cheese onto the floor. My grandma is the friendliest little old lady, sometimes I wonder if shes too friendly. She went to the employee who had the accident and struck up a conversation with him, saying she wished she was able to help and making a silly joke about the string cheese. I carried on thinking shed be okay for a moment while I went and grabbed orange juice. When I came back to her there was now another employee (a blonde man stocking frozen foods) who was talking to her sternly. She had a package of veggie burgers in her hand and when she saw me she motioned for us to leave and started walking away from the man. After a few steps and asking her why she had veggie burgers (that I knew she wouldnt eat), she embarrassing told me that she had been very hot still, and had picked the package up to examine "what on earth veggie burgers were" and she had quickly touched the package to the skin above her top and below her neck. The blonde man Id seen then rudely approached her and scolded her by saying that if she didnt buy those packaged patties hed be forced to throw them away because she "put them on her chest"??? My poor grandmother was so mortified she was almost in tears. I told her it was fine, that no one in their right mind would throw away a packaged and sealed product because the PACKAGING had skin contact. It wasnt like she shoved it down her shirt or opened it. So I took the patties back to their cooler and started to walk away. No joke, this man came from no where and started in on me about how, "I told that woman that if she put those patties on her breasts she had to buy them or I was gonna throw them away!" Id like to clarify again she was wearing a shirt, and at no time did the frozen goods touch her breasts. I was so shocked by this employees behavior I pointed to the burgers and apologized while he went on about how now he had to throw them away.... Im honestly still blown away by it all. I cannot believe this is how a grown man in the customer service industry of all places would treat an elderly disabled woman. With his logic, every package of frozen goods or otherwise, should be tossed as soon as someone touches them with their skin. I also find it ironic that this same man helped the other employee pick the fallen string cheeses up OFF THE FLOOR AND THEN PUT THEM ON THE SHELF! Somehow my grandmothers skin is dirtier than the floor?? For gods sake. It took all I had not to return to this store and request a manager to clarify this policy. My grandmother however, still shocked and mortified, begged me to just take her home and forget about it. Ive never had an issue here before, and Im hoping its just the heat messing with peoples brains. My Grandmother and I will pray for this man tonight and hope he learns to treat people with kindness.

If i could leave a negative star rating i would. on my recent trip to winco i encountered one of the rudest and most unprofessional people of my entire life. while approaching the check out line a skinny girl came up to the check stand complaining and scowling because "she hated checking". SHE SAID THIS OUT LOUD while coming up to check my groceries. So, naturally i felt great about being at winco at this point. she made no attempt to greet me or ask how i was doing nor did she even make eye contact with me. while checking my groceries and paying absolutely no attention to me she proceeded to get on the intercom and request an additional checker (to relieve her during mid check i assume). when no one answered or came to relieve her she became frustrated and her demeanor got even worse! once she finished checking my groceries and while i was bagging them an additional checker came up whom she proceeded to berate (in front of me again) for not answering the intercom or coming up to the front right away. she was a complete unprofessional brat and i have never had such an abhorring customer service experience. before i left i approached the person she just "lit up" and made my complaint and asked for her title and name. her name is Mindy and her title was "LC"- not sure what this means but for her to be in charge of anything except for the toilets is a joke. she literally acted like a spoiled little brat. to make matters worse, after i attained the info i was after- i saw her flirting and acting all smiley with one of the younger stock boys. GET THIS IDIOT OUT OF YOUR STORE WINCO!!!! I will continue to shop at winco because they have particularly good values on groceries.............just not at the winco on hwy99 in hazel dell.

Its the best store Ive found to get everything I need for the best prices, friendly, helpful employees, and I do like the idea that it is "employee owned". I was surprised to find prices out here were more expensive than in Montana, so I was happy to find Winco. Sure, Ive grabbed some produce that should have been culled when I was in a hurry, but thats to be expected in such a large store. Im amazed they keep it as tidy as they do, especially the bulk item area. I do think store protocol regarding your bagging and no credit cards should be more prominently (check out stand, and other places customers ARE paying attention, not a sign in a chaotic entry) posted, and checkers should prompt overwhelmed newbies. I just stood at the checkout stand gawking on my first trip when I should have been bagging. My second experience was terrible because the checker told me they didnt take credit cards, instead of clarifying I COULD do a debit purchase, after shed rung up nearly $100. I had to borrow from a male acquaintance which was very uncomfortable.

I just went to Wiscon and one of my kids got two of the free cookies they have there so as I get to the register to start paying my stuff the cashier was like very friendly with the other customer in front of me and when it was my time to pay she was very rude and she said to one of my kids you can only get one of those cookies and I was like there free and I told my kid give me the cookies and I handed them to the lady and told there if you want them here they are and said no I can take them I think she was just being rude to us just because Im Mexican because 5 seconds before she was OK with the other customer so Im thinking way do you guys have people working there if there going to be rude like that to othere people I feel more sad for here because shes nobody to judge others just for my skin color O and by the way there name is Janet shes and old lady..
