Usually, the Proctor location is very efficent, but this trip was very different. There were 2 express lines open and 2 regular lines that were filling up quickly with people in the aisles waiting. Even when I pointed this out to my cashier, (name unknown, no name tag and no name on my receipt, for now, I will call her Cathy). After a few minutes, someone called but I saw no one coming to help. I watched as she chatted with her customers, which is nice when you dont have a long line or a line that is moving very slowly. Chatting is fine, one should be friendly, but one really needs to work AS they chat, not stop working while they talk. There was a coworker who was pregnant chatting with her as well but did not seem to be aware of the slow moving line. Clocking my time, I was in that line for almost 15 minutes. RIDICULOUS. All Cathy had to say for it was that she was new... several times. When I asked her about comment cards, she said she didnt know about them, and that she was new. When I asked if she could call someone, she said she didnt know. I understand new. Ive been there. Customer service is not the easiest job, but knowing when to ask for help and being aware when a customer is agitated is important. Cathy really seemed more interested in chatting and the fact she was new. When I pointed out that there looked like there was a manager checking out in the next line, and perhaps she could ask him where the comment cards were, she told Paul that I wanted to talk with him. She was not getting it. I did not have spare time. I waited already nearly 15 minutes in line... I could have done self-check-out faster than that! Please, let your new employees know where the comment cards are and help them understand what a sense of urgency is.

My favorite place for Groceries, Spirits, etc..., in the North End of Tacoma! Awesome, helpful and friendly Staff! Above average Produce Dept., Butcher/Fresh Seafood Counters and Bakery Department. They feature Premier Delis, with a large selection of both Local and International Cheeses, Wine & Spirits, Handmade Sushi (by an actual Sushi Chef), and Made-to-Order Sandwiches, Subs, Soups and many more Specialty & Seasonal Items. Too tired to cook? Need Hot Items or Deli Trays for a Lunch or Special Occasion? Then check out their Asian Express, freshly made Fried, Baked or Rotisserie Chicken, other Hot Items, Salads or their Deli Meats, Cheeses and "Special Orders" Counter, for fresh, hot items either To-Go or Dine-In. They have clean, lovely, Indoor and Outdoor Dining Areas. Indoors includes both Booth and Table seating, a Large Screen TV and a Warm, Welcoming Gas Fireplace. Lastly, they also have in-house, a Full Service Starbucks Coffee, Pharmacy and Floral Departments. The Parking area, in front of the store, is quite limited on space, although Ive never had an issue with parking myself. They do have additional parking both "On-Street" and an additional, small lot across the side-street next to, "North End Veterinary Hospital" and the Proctor Fire Station. I love this store!

Honestly not a big fan of tacoma but I like this safeway. Not enough to get the urge to write a review on that alone but I had a good experience the other day that warrents it. The store is nice, would get better marks on appeal but its in tacoma. The service and quality I would have given a good or very good except my last trip caused me to raise both to excellent. I was looking for specific type of chocolate milk and I couldnt find it. I asked a worker who was stocking where it was, he went to show me, discovered there was none on the shelf. At that point I appreciate the effort from David(I think was his name)I thanked him and was going to go back to my shopping. He instead offered to go check the back for it even though I said it was okay,(he was obviously working the first time I interpreted him). He was kind and insisted he go look. Low and behold he came back with it. Confiding that he knew they had it just hadnt had a chance to get it out yet, was impressed that he knew where items were in store and what was in the back also. So my thanks to em, recommend the store and its polite staff.

Great customer service. Never had a bad experience there. Like never in the 18+ years Ive been shopping there have I had any issues. Once when sending Western Union money to someone we had some trouble but I helped the last fix her computer so she could send the money. (Their printer was replaced and I told her how to map it in Windows).... I refused to touch the computer even though it would have been faster. I do tech support for a living and I wasnt going to have their obviously bad IT try to place blame on me or her. I had her as it by the basic network printer install method serverprinter in the search command. Then I told her a way to add a printer the long way if she was asked lol. What IT doesnt add printers to a local Group Policy to add that printer to each users login, ugh whatever. Not ranking their IT support here so dont mind that rant, haha. Although I can only rank their customer service 1 to 5 stars I give them TEN! !

Staff is excellent. Store manager is a slimy misogynist who bends rules for people who do his bidding. I left this company after the store manager accused me of lying about my daughter being sick based on her appearance. Pneumonia and fevers arent always physically evident - especially for children who have chronic instances. For crying out loud...be angry about your employees that steal time from you or the ones cleaning out the donation bins to line their pockets. Not the employees who cover all your extra shifts and continually check at the register so your lazy self doesnt have to. Oh wait...then you cant sit in the office with your feet on the desk all day.

When I shop here, its for the Safeway prices. Theres nothing too great about this location. Though it is not what one would refer to as a dirty Safeway. Its fairly clean, and theres no one hassling me for smokes or change outside. The people who work here seem miserable, I dont like to ask them for help. They dont like to be asked questions. You will not be greeted here, or asked if you are finding everything alright. Theyre here to collect a paycheck, and hey, I get that. Though, my last experience wasnt bad. I was told the wrong aisle for what I needed, but all in all it was good, and my checker was actually friendly.

Best (and safest) Safeway in Tacoma. Good side of town and good staff. Safeway app saves me tons with coupons as well and being open 24 hours (which Wal*Mart doesnt even do in Tacoma) helps me to shop in the middle of the night when I work unusual hours. Never found a member of the staff to be less than helpful and friendly. Plus it is a lot better deal than the Metropolitan Market across the street so it is convenient to get staple products at Safeway and then find specialty items just across the street. Great shopping situation on Proctor.
