Helpful staff, but there is a bad vibe about that store. If you are an owner, you need to be aware that this small business has operating losses over the last few years amounting to over $1.1 Million, currently is servicing more debt than it can handle, and has severe cash flow problems. Yet, the Board of Directors does not demand accountability of the GM, because she controls and manipulates the members of the Board. In fact Food Front is not being operated as a cooperative, but more like a dictatorship headed by the General Manager. I encourage all owners demand that the board and general manager be forced to resign and that the owners meet and elect a board in a democratic fashion. I also encourage all owners to rally, and develop a strategy to oust all current board members, elect a new board and immediately terminate the general manager, director of marketing and HR manager, and implement a plan to regain financial stability of the business.

Im FINALLY a lifetime member here (its a $150 fee but soooo worth it) and am so thrilled. I was lucky and spoiled to have lived across the street from here for it was extremely convenient for me if I need something quick. The majority of their produce is locally sourced, and often times they have some unusual items in that youd never be able to find at your local Safeway or Fred Meyer. Strangely enough, their prices were always fairly low, much lower than some other coops I used to shop at in the past. The staff is there for you and are friendly and helpful. A definitely perk of being a member is being able to request an item and having it ordered in for you!

Co-operative grocery stores have never really impressed me; this one has the least. This place is designed to keep yuppies from being able to vacation in Milan: the produce section is miniscule and whimsical, and often requires deft sorting through, whereas the sections selling ten-dollar sandwiches and four-dollar kale chips are prominent and robustly stocked and serviced. To be fair, the meat department is pretty awesome, and the bulk foods are usually a great deal. But New Seasons is just down the street, offers a vastly superior selection, and is cheaper. — and the cashiers dont daydream and lollygag near as much.

I have been to this place multiple times and the people are wonderful....BUT the prices are astounding!!! We have forgotten the meaning of the word co op or "cooperative": a jointly owned enterprise engaging in the production or distribution of goods or the supplying of services, operated by its members for their MUTUAL BENEFIT, typically organized by consumers or farmers. This place jacks up the price almost DOUBLE what Ive found the same products in other markets/co ops around town. If you want to support your local community go down to the farmers market and directly support your local farmers.

$8 for 6 oz of moldy blueberries is outrageous. EVERYTHING is the store is WAY over priced. Plus, the checkers were very arrogant and aloof, not friendly at all. With all the great stores in Portland I suspect its the locals keeping this place going. What a shame really. Apparently the area needs a grocery store. Still, with prices so high it was no wonder the store was deserted at 5pm on a weekday. We WONT be going back either.

In what is already a forward thinking and organically minded neighborhood, Food Front manages to still stand out, and may be one of the better co-ops in the city. Carrying a great selection, and a good quality of produce, it would be hard to walk out of here without a full cart of goodies. Great customer service makes this a rewarding experience, and a recommended local establishment.

Needed a few things to bring home with me after a Nob Hill trip & was so delighted to find Food Front. They had just what I needed for the fresh, organic, meal I was planning without having to drive to a bigger store. Found a new favorite too...local Bull Run Cider...soooo good and I havent seen it elsewhere.

This is a great little cooperative. I used to visit frequently when I lived in the neighborhood, now I make pitstops for healthy snacks. A family friend sells their Mohawk River Farm organic blueberries here, so I know they are the real deal. :-) Peace, Darcy @DarcysUtopia @YippieChicks

Staff is a mixed bag of really nice and really awful. Overpriced, with questionable food safety in the deli. Pretty sure if they were hit with a surprise inspection they would fail. They make co-ops look bad. I wish this place werent so disappointing.

A great local food co-op. Also, for the area it provides a great service. The area would be a grocery desert without the co-op. Everything is fresh and the staff is wonderful.

We love this coop. We swing by here when we need some midweek groceries. While New Seasons is our main stop, this is a good secondary for us.

This used to be my favorite spot for lunch. The pressure from a recently built competitor is definetly taking its toll.

Absurdly overpriced!! $4.50 for an onion! Almost $10 for a lame deli Thai wrap. Left without buying anything!
