Dropped two screens off Saturday morning the 2nd of August, did not hear anything back until I called today August 7th. The guy on the phone said they were all done days ago and one had a small tear in it since it had been "sitting around there for so long and had been moved around. Were not replacing it". Are you kidding me? I just called asking for an update and was being attacked for not picking my stuff up earlier...First no call to say they were done...Then the unbelievable comment that since the screens were stored in their shop for SO LONG (5 days), it got damaged and they would not replace it. First of all, how would I know to pick them up without a call letting me know they are done and any place that considers themselves half way professional should know how to store a customers item without damaging it and then trying to blame the customer....Unbelievable, AVOID these pricks and do your screen yourself or go to a place with an ounce of class.

OK this review has been years in the making.. I SELDOM feel the need to express the meaningless experience of one person to the rest of the neighborhood but SERIOUSLY has anyone been in this place? Heres a few outtakes from the past decade. 1) Middle of the day in the middle of the week I pull in after having seen the OPEN sign illuminated. NOPE theyre closed. But who knows why? Please come inside when they are open however... A visitor is met with bare shelves, empty hooks and a mish-mass of odds and ends that dont go seem to go together. WE DO SCREENS! they advertise and Im sure they must be adept at that! But do you want a 3" 5/16 bolt washer and nut all of a sudden on a Saturday afternoon? Well its anyones guess if theyre going to have it! Theyre only running a hardware store after all! Ballardites and everyone else in the city.... GO TO STONE WAY HARDWARE its a couple miles down the road and find what youre looking for! HOW AGGRAVATING!

The sign says "open 7 days a week". I dont know about anybody else, but when I go to a hardware store, its because I need something specific. I have tried to support local business and go here instead of a big box store, but every time I try, theres a note on the door saying theyre closed today. I dunno if there is illness in the family, or something equally un-fun, and if there is, I sympathize, but you cant run a business by not being open when you say youre going to be.

Supposedly theyre a great shop. Id never know because each time Ive tried shopping at this store - two weeknights and a Sunday - theyve been closed! Theyre only a few blocks from my house but each time Ive tried buying something from them Ive been forced to trek over to Maple Leaf Ace which is run by folks smart enough to stay open late enough on weeknights to accommodate people who have jobs. Id love to shop local but they make it pretty hard to do that.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. They are consistently the most helpful, patient, knowledgeable, and all around decent people you could ask for help. Their prices are very reasonable and combined with the advice and knowledge a downright bargain. I have been coming here for nearly three years and never been disappointed. I dont write many reviews so that should be enough to tell you how impressed I am!

The service is consistently friendly and most helpful. Theyve done my windows and helped on all sorts of "how do I fix..." questions (great for a new homeowner especially!). How lucky we are to have Crown Hill Hardware in our neighborhood.

Dont know what you need? How to get out of the mess you created? This is our long time favorite hardware store for forever. Great advise, creative ideas for unusual projects, common sense information.

Dennis and the team rock! If you need it, they have it. I cant count how many times theyve saved my bacon and make screens for the windows.

Antique water nozzle found buried in the dirt restored to working order for 44¢ (incl. labor). Yeah, its one of those places.
