They create uncomfortable rules and customer service. This is the only place where you can shop for hiking and outdoor clothes in our area. Our shopping experience from yesterday was not good. It gave us a reason not to come next time shop from this shop. Here is why: 1. You can only bring max 3 clothes to fitting room. No written sign, no assisting personal, no place to leave extra clothes outside the fitting room, when you have more than 3 items to try. Most places does similar policy, but when they do, they make it easy and more logistic to the shopper, where you can leave ( hung) extra clothes outside of the fitting room. Also there is always employee who assists or monitors giving number cards to control how many clothes in a fitting room. It was so uncomfortable when I had about 5 items to try and I can only have 3 at a time. So where I leave extra 2, on the floor outside of the fitting room? Return to the original place and come back and get on 2nd round? Fitting rooms are very dark and not enough light to see yourself. The only light source coming are from high ceiling. To see better one have to go outside the dark fitting cabin. We were shopping with my family and we could not be in fitting room together to see and help to select clothes to each other. I had to stay outside and holding all extras while my husband was trying his. Then we have to change roles. There were only us shopping and couple salespeople and manager on the floor. All avoided to come and help us and we have to ask them to open the fitting room each time . For our question why we cant try more than 3 and where to leave extras, they simply said - it is our policy as people are stealing clothes. Why shoppers should suffer from this policy, if people steal, make it more logistic and still customer service oriented. Store manager, was whistling around the shop and seems did not care about clients comments and concerns.

Huge store that feels about half full of merchandise. The left quarter of the store is fishing and boating gear, the middle is tactical and hunting clothing, the right front is all boots, and the extreme right quarter or so is camping, backpacking, and food prep (think friers, vacuum dealers, dehydrators etc). The entire back wall is guns and ammo. Decent archery selection as well. Poor trail cam/game feeder selection, possibly due to feeding being illegal in Virginia? Excellent gun selection and decent prices, but very very poor customer service from the people behind the gun counter. They are not knowledgeable about the products they sell and are unable to recommend a gun other than to read you whats on the card. I did have a really great customer service experience with a man who worked in the shoe section. Their prices on some items are competitive, but on most name brands like under armor, Columbia, and yeti, they almost always just sell them at msrp. I shop frequently at cabelas as well, and cabelas beats their prices on most items. The generic gander mountain branded stuff seems to be of really low quality as well. I still shop here especially during sales, but its no longer my go to place. I can often get what I want from cabelas web site or Amazon prime for less and they have a better selection. Its still the closest store to me with the best selection of ammo when I need to stock up for a next day pheasant hunt or fishing expedition, and I buy boots and backpacks that I want to try on before buying there, but its definitely worth shopping around for many other items.

Offered a Gander Mountain Master Card at time purchase to receive store discount: Payed cash and the card was also charged unbeknownst to me for the same sale. This card was sent in the mail and never activated by me as, I did not have possess the card... I was contacted by the credit card company for collection of the sale and 2 months of late charges and told I would need to take up the matter with the Winchester store. As well, the credit card company did acknowledge that the card was in fact never activated by me per the usual call in protocol. I called the Winchester store and customer service representative said there was "nothing she could do without a receipt", she repeted herself in a unfriendly and unwilling to help tone several times and said as I ask to speak with a manager, "theres nothing they can do either". I was eventually able to speak to a manager and was told the matter would be looked into; I gave this manager the the date, the approximate time, the amount, and a description of myself as, there would be video of transaction and this would show that I payed cash. I was told that a manager would follow up with this matter and get to me. After 6 days and no response, I called again, was told by an assistant manager that she had heard of the incident and would remind the manager looking into this matter that I called.

After weeks of comparing different models of single stack 9mms, I walked into the Winchester Gander Mountain last night ready to order the Sig p938. Earlier in the day Id been given a price that was about $45 less than any the local competition had been able to give. A guaranteed sale walked in the door, but less than half hour later an unhappy, empty handed woman walked out. Somehow, in a matter of a few hours, the price had gone up to over $35 more than a small local shops quote on the same model, an $80 difference in price from the earlier price. Not only that, but the associate wasnt even able to find the one Id been shown on their website earlier. At every other store the p938s are all the same price unless they have a laser, I was willing to buy my second choice of finish at price Id been given. I left with the blessing of the associate to buy my 938 from Old Dominion. Still trying to figure out what the heck happened.. How can a small local dealer beat Gander Mountains prices with the buying power that Gander has? Perhaps the snarky associate I dealt with last night was just not bothered about making the sale?

First of all, worst service of any firearm seller Ive ever been to. The sales reps DO NOT like being bothered with showing any firearms. Prices are FULL retail, sometimes even higher. Twice in a row now, Ive been treated like a second-rate street rat at the firearms counter. Upon completion of looking at my second pistol, the sales rep asked me which one I was going to go home with.... Perhaps I wasnt done yet?!?!? ( And for their prices? NONE) He left the counter... JUST LEFT. I was ignored and both reps went back into the gunsmith room. The entire time I was " being helped" I received nothing short of a nasty elitist attitude from my rep, and HE WAS CLEARLY IRRITATED being asked to show a firearm. This is my last time going to this horrible establishment. Ive only been there twice in 4 months, and both times I was treated with complete and utter disrespect and both times at the firearms counter. Horrible customer service, horrible prices. Never going back. If you want to buy a gun, go to a REAL gunstore.
