This store is like the boyfriend in middle school that you really want to like but just can because he is so rude. I have, on multiple occasions, entered this store during non-busy hours and received little to no attention from the staff. Last week I went to shop on a weekday morning with the intention of buying shoes, a yoga mat, and a jacket. As I entered the newly renovated store I walked past two young women standing at the register and was not even acknowledged by them let alone offered assistance. I wondered around the store confused and unable to find the product I wanted for at least 15 minutes. Finally, after at least two other staff passed me without greeting or offering assistance, a salesman directed me to the yoga mat that I was looking for. By this time I was completely fed up with the unfriendly and unhelpful staff at the store. I bought the yoga mat (only because this was the one place in town that carried this product) and left. It is such a shame, I so much so want to love and support this store because it really does carry great products but until the staff starts doing their job and making me want to be there, I dont see myself ever shopping here again.

This place made me feel like a criminal. Placed an online order and got no email confirmation. Followed up and was told the website had a cyber attack, and so my order was mistakenly cancelled as fraudulent. Was told Id get a follow-up call to resolve, and I did not. When I emailed, I was told Id have to re-order the items...fine, but one of the items was then almost double the original price. I emailed to request the original price be honored but never heard from them again. Ive never had so much trouble trying to give a retailer money.

Staff is super friendly! Usually multiple staff members greet you as you walk in. They are very knowledgeable of their products and offer great suggestions to find just what you need for hiking, camping, skiing, etc. I love shopping here because I trust the staff and their knowledge. They also rent certain things out so you dont always have to buy something brand new to go on an adventure. You can probably get some of their products elsewhere for cheaper, but its worth spending a few extra bucks on the local economy!

A truly fantastic local store, and extremely helpful staff. No pressure salespeople who are knowledgeable, and really want to help. Great prices on the best brands of quality merchandise, extreme discounts on clearance items! 10% off regular price if you have a valid AAA membership, too. Apparel, footwear and anything you could possibly need for your outdoor or travel adventures can be found there, all under one roof. If they dont have it, they can get it, also, check out their website for great deals.

I used to think - man this place is crazy expensive, but they have the best of everything! Am I ever going to need an ax with a handle carved by hand and a head hammered into shape by some gnarly dude who lives in the woods a thousand miles from civilization? Probably not, but I pick that stupid thing up every time I go in there! So cool!!! The womens section is great too. Really nice coats. Its pretty much my place for fleece, wool, shades and anything TNF.

Huge amount of products and a great understanding of both what theyre selling, and the regional venues in which to use what you buy. Also, they did an internet price match of a daypack that I was interested in, which is rare and was helpful. Have been a customer for 15 years, and will continue to be so for as long as Im in the area.

I went in looking to buy hiking boots for the first time in my life and the staff was so helpful with sizing, and advice on which brands would be good for me and my skill level. They sell quality clothing, so I always feel good about buying from them. They are a little pricey, but everything they sell is worth paying the extra money.

Exellent service. Employees were all eager to help you find something or even offer advice. The selection of backpacking gear is great. The quality brands they carry are offered at competitive pricing. Why buy from online retailers when you could shop here. I will go back and definitely recommend.

very overpriced and expensive, have great products and great items to browse and peak your interest. Do not buy anything here. You can find the same products elsewhere for so much cheaper, but Appalachian provides good service and a good place to browse for those who dont want to buy fully online

I ordered a Patagonia jacket for 40% less than everywhere else I checked. Because I was getting it at such a deep discount, I was nervous. Not only did the store call to confirm the shipping address, but it also arrived before promised! Excellent customer service!

Top notch gear, apparently hand selected by the owners and staff. My only quibble is that if youre a big guy, like me, you might be out of luck with some of the fitting. Thats an industry-wide problem, though, and not to blame this well-run establishment.

great mens clothing selection, they have a lot of stuff from the big brands that the major department stores dont carry. its not just skiing/outdoor gear, lots of nice button-downs, zip-ups, jackets, etc.

Are you kidding me!? This place is wonderful! Brands like Patagonia, smartwool, north face, Chaco, and more. The staff is stupid friendly and helpful. Also host some pretty dope events.
