Do not use Tolson! My 3 year old $2,000 Maytag refrigerator (Model#: MFF2258VEA2) began leaking water and ruined my wooden kitchen floor. I called Maytag and they referred me to Tolson. I called Tolson and scheduled an appointment. When the technician was in route he called me and asked me to push two buttons inside the refrigerator to turn the unit off. There were no buttons. I finally figured out how to turn it off myself. The reason that he wanted it off was so the condenser drain line would unfreeze so he could replace it. I did not know that was the problem otherwise I would have turned the unit off the night before so it would be defrosted for the 8 AM appointment. The technician arrived 1/2 hour after the call. He removed the freezer door and the back freezer cover to expose the coil. He then began to use a screwdriver and the palm of his hand to chip the ice away from the coil and the drain. I thought he was going put a hole in the refrigerator and he bent all the fins of the coil along the bottom. I could not watch anymore and left. He finished the job and told me that some of the old parts had fallen inside the refrigerator. He then said that he replaces about 2-3 of these defective valves a week and that there was a recall, so there would be no charge. He then said he needed to get on the road to his next 8 repairs for the day! That night I went into the freezer to get some ice cream and it poured out onto the floor. I examined the freezer door and it was re-installed out of square leaving a 1/2 inch gap between the gasket and the refrigerator. I called Tolson the next day and the service manager Carroll came out. He examined the door and determined that it had to be removed and re-installed properly. After about an hour, the job was done. I asked Carroll why the technician had so many calls during one day and he said the owner had mandated this and it was causing a lot of problems. He then also told me that even though they replaced several of these defective valves per week there was no recall and I would be billed. You would think that the technician doing the work would know if there was a recall or not. Nonetheless, Carroll agreed that there should be a recall and had called Maytag to ask why there was not one. Carroll then said he would send me a legible copy of the work order so I could file an insurance claim for the floor damage since the technicians hand writing was illegible. It did not come until I made several phone calls. When I received the letter, it merely stated that they replaced the valve and that there was floor damage. My insurance company said they needed a letter from the repair center stating the age of the refrigerator and the nature of the defect in order to process the claim. I asked Tolson several times to no avail. I finally wrote my own letter with all the facts that the technician and manager had told to me and sent it to them for approval. They declined to let me tell all the facts as stated in the letter. I think they are afraid of a lawsuit, but it is Maytag that should have a class action lawsuit made against them for all the damaged floors from their defective valve. My overall experience with Tolson was pretty poor. The technician was sloppy, and the management there is poor. I would not really have cared about any of this, but the last straw was when they refused to state in writing that which they told me to my face. By the way, I have replaced the main computer module and the ice maker in this same refrigerator as well. What a piece of junk.

I called to get some of my appliances serviced. They quoted me a lead time of six weeks. At the time of booking the appointment, I was NOT told that their POLICY was to charge $100 for the travel from Warrenton to Middleburg. Their website says that they service ALL Horse country. I live one mile from Middleburg on Route 50. Straight shot. Its horse country and they told me on the phone they service Middleburg, The bill for the service visit was close to $500! They would not leave the receipt saying they had to input it in the computer. Then, today, when I received the quote for parts and installation the quote came to $1068.85. The parts came to $693.85 and there is a $375 misc. charge including installation but very confusing explanation. Looks like they are charging me AGAIN for travel but was told the second trip would be half which looks like $53? I feel they take severe advantage of the fact that they are the only game in the area. I am from NYC and used to higher prices but this is outrageous! They explained "they always do it this way". When asking for their TERMS OF BUSINESS I was told I would have to get permission from the owner to get them. Crazy.

My second time trying to buy appliances here...I had been a few years ago and the woman who greeted me was very dismissive when I told her I was looking for a dishwasher. Not sure if she was disappointed I did not want a whole suite of appliances but any rate she retreated to her office and left me to wander around on my own. This time, a week or so ago, I WAS in fact looking for a whole suite of kitchen appliances. There were 3 or 4 women working, talking to other customers, so I waited patiently till one of them was free. A woman did finally approach and we discussed my needs but after 2 minutes I could tell I knew way more about appliances than she did. She would occasionally ask a colleague for assistance, and the colleague, even tho not busy by this time, was rude and snappish, though clearly knowledgeable. Finally after almost an hour in the store I told the sales lady I would be doing some research on my own and thanked her and left. I am not sure why so many people recommend this store, but because of that I did decide to go back a second time. Now, having 2 bad experiences there, I wont be back.

We had a technician come to troubleshoot our LG dryer. I took him around back instead of through the house due to us having 2 dogs in the main level. I did not want a safety issue for the dogs or the guy. Also, my family was still in bed sleeping and I did not want the barking to wake them up. When explaining this, he commented "Im not here to dick around". Well, that is uncalled for. I am not here to cater to your every whim dude and if he was too lazy to walk around the house instead of through it, he needs a new attitude. I was told the vent was blocked and we had to clean it. First, he never physically looked into my vent. I had just cleaned it and it is clear the whole way down. You can not diagnose something without proving it to me. He recommended a cleaning company for my vent and left. Well, he is not getting any kickbacks from that company because I am not calling them. Since then, I have fixed my problem (not the vent being blocked) and I am drying clothes no thanks to this tech. To start off rude and using foul language to not even doing your job? Guess what, we will never call Tolsons again.
