So, I brought my 90s HARO impulse in to get a new fork. I wanted the bike to be less aggressive and felt a fork with more rake would make it so I could cruise on it hands free... keep in mind, this is a top shelf 90s style mountain bike. It has aggressive racing geometry, STX components, and weighs in at a hefty 18 lbs...:) Lets just say its a rigged rear bike that halls... Shes a nice bike and Im proud to know her... Joel, the main tech at Re-Cycles, was hesitant at modifying this bike and advised me not to change the shock out since it would ruin the package. After some deliberation, and a week or two of rainy days, I purchased a bike from them that I couldnt be happier with. It"s an old Raleigh road bike with a single front gear and 5 in the back. minimalist setup, light weight, chromoly thing, with beautiful weld joints and tight style. It is a joy to ride. I couldnt be happier. I wanted a street ride that my old ass, broken armed last year, bad shouldered self could run around on and they hooked me up totally. All at a fair price and through solid advice. Best bike shop in Richmond, hands down.

There arent enough words to say how thankful I am that we have this shop in Richmond. Ive taken my bike there several times to have minor things fixed, and they always were quick, knowledgeable and friendly. And the prices were always reasonable. Recently I was ran over by a car and my bike was decently smashed up. Anyone that knows me, knows that bike is my ABSOLUTE world. I was very emotional when I dropped it off, not knowing if it could be fixed or not. Joel was AMAZING. He was very patient with me and did not make any false promises. He told me what would need to be done, and quoted the price before starting the work. It did not take very long at all. I picked up my bike today, and it is beautiful. I was yet again very emotional, and he was super patient. The love I have for this bike and what it means to me is something I can never really describe. I am so grateful to Joel for everything he has done through this whole process. And for giving me a piece of myself back. I will continue to send everyone I know to their shop. Thank you so much!!

I went in with an ancient bike, an old 70s french road bike built by my dad which has seen better days. Im not a bike officianado, but I can appreciate vintage stuff. I had to get it shifting again after it sat for years, adjusted brakes, lube and re-grease everything, etc. They got it working, for a great price, but I guess they didnt think to mention they replaced the original shifters with plastic and metal "new" made in china ones. They didnt seem to notice that when riding the bike the brakes squeal all the time, every time. And they didnt have the impossible to find replacement parts for the infamous "french crank" the bike had and replaced it. And for everything I paid to replace, I didnt get the old, original, parts back. So if you go there, be sure to specify you want to keep any non-wear parts they arbitrarily replace. Otherwise for basic maintenance and such, they seem like nice guys, and my experience was about 2+ years ago from the date of this review.

Guy working in the shop just now was very friendly and knowlegeable. I took in two bikes to see if he could get them working. One he couldnt, and offered to take to the junk yard for me, and the other he did a quick checkup on and had me in and out in 5 minutes. Highly reccomend going to this hole in the wall shop if you need a fix on a bike. I will be going back with any future work I need done.

No matter the cost of your bike or your experience riding they will treat you with equal respect. Once i started going here i had no reason to look anywhere else. Plus Ive never had the feeling somebody was trying to sell me something i didnt need. If anything you might have to convince him because he tries to keep money in your pocket and keep you riding!!

This is a small shop that specializes in used bikes and very reasonable bike repair. You dont get the super hungry sales pitch type people you would get at a normal bike store--because these guys arent that, they repair and supply parts and do it extremely well and cheaply. What more could you ask for? Great Place!

My roommate borrowed my bike to go to work and was hit by a car. He is fine, but my bike needed a new frame, back wheel, chain. Re-Cycles hooked me up with all the parts and put my new bike together for an extremely reasonable rate. They even changed my gears and brakes to the new frame!

These guys are the best. I come here anytime I need anything tuned up, or quality parts for cheap. Joel even helped me load my bikes in my truck. Great people and service
