Their prices are higher than nearby grocery stores on just about everything. The only reason I ever shop here is if Im desperate (ie. if other nearby stores have a rare moment of not having a certain item I may be in search of). This store is filthy. Sticky floors. Dirty baskets (wheeled and handheld). Dust all over the shelved items. General disorganization in the aisles. Nobody seems to know how to rotate stock in all sections of the store... expiration dates well past their time limit. Maybe if they spent less time socializing and more time WORKING, things could improve... but Im not holding my breath. I wish they had a self-checkout like Kroger. The cashiers have no clue how to pack groceries. I actually had a conflict with a cashier, when I had a lot of canned goods and also a glass jar of garlic. I put the cans in front to be packed first, then the boxed items, then the jar. The gal tossed the cans in a bag then reached over to throw the jar in with the cans. Glass in a bag with metal... DUH... how dumb. I stopped her and told her it belongs in bag with "softer" items. She said "whatever" and continued bagging my stuff. This leads me to the worst thing about this store: The RUDENESS of the employees. If I ask if an out of stock item could maybe be in the stockroom, I am ALWAYS told (without hesitation) that if it isnt on the shelf its out of stock. WRONG! You just dont want to be bothered to go check. It would mean you having to go out of your way to DO YOUR JOB! As slipshod as this place is, I find it hard to believe that they have actually taken ALL stock out of the back and shelved it. They havent... theyre just LAZY. (Even the GOOD grocery stores always have stuff in the stockroom that hasnt been placed out front yet... thats normal.) Ive even called the store a few times to ask for a manager. MOST of the time they dont even answer the phone. The few times someone answers, after I ask for a manager, I "accidentally" get disconnected. TRAINING STARTS AT THE TOP!!!!! Ive been in the Willow Lawn area for a dozen years and this store has ALWAYS been like this while Ive been around here. Like I said... I only shop here when the nearby GOOD grocery stores are out of a particular item I want. And I have NO problem telling my friends what a lousy, poorly run store this IS... and to NEVER buy ANYthing perishable. Stick to the canned or boxed items... the lesser evil.

I like going to this particular location because its hidden and thus tends to be less crowded but they actually have a better selection of food than many of the other more visible Food Lion locations in town.

Best layed out Food Lion Ive been to. There are several closer to me, however, not as nicely laid out, great staff, great xelections. Sadly, Food Lion is closing this store later this year.
