DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! Especially if you are a young sewer. I own my own sewing business online and just moved back to Fredericksburg. I was looking for an awesome local store to buy my material from, to service my Bernina and Featherweight, and to take some classes to advance myself. The first time I went in I was with my husband and daughter. No one paid attention to me when I was in the store. It was kind of a snuffy attitude like I wasnt going to buy anything. The entire time the owners dogs were barking at my daughter. I asked about the class they were doing after purchasing some thread and they said I could just show up. I looked them up online because I just thought they needed to warm up to new people, and the class said you needed to sign up. In fact it stressed it since so much time is put into the kits. Okay so about a week or so later my grandmother comes to town to bring me her Bernina. Well this is a Bernina store. So we decided to go in and get some supplies. I walk in with her and the store worker says "Oh having a nice shopping day?" so happy greeting my grandmother and then looks to me and says "Well maybe not for you" meaning your grandmother dragged you here. And I said uhhhhhh actually this shopping trip is for me. The mood was totally different for my grandmother, they were all over her helping her find things and answering all her questions. But they were still suspicious of me, they seemed like they didnt believe I made a living sewing on facebook. We were leaving and I inquired about the class again and they said to just show up, still in the weird attitude like yeah shes not going to do it. I also gave them my email so I could get updates and the list of supplies to bring to the class. Another week or so goes by and the class is nearing. I have received no emails, not in my junk folder either. I called to see if the class was still going on over the phone. The owner said oh you were suppossed to sign up for that. I said I was told to show up. They looked me up in the system and I know they remembered I was the girl who came in with my grandma because she mentioned it when she read my unique email address (which is my shops name) and they said okay lets see if we can fit you in. She said she could if I got a black and white kit. Okay whatever I was fine with that. She said I could show up and pay then and shed send out and email of supplies. The day of the class I never got and email. In fact they tell me its full! I said I signed up! They said oh there will be other classes. I then proceed to tell them that I feel like there is an ageist bias in this store and they are losing a PAYING customer who buys ALOT of supplies, gets both a featherweight and a bernina serviced, and would take plenty of classes. No apology, nothing, she just said sorry you feel that way. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE. Find someplace else I am literally in tears right now because of this rude disrespectful store.

Rather unpleasant this morning. I entered the store to pick up the 2016 row by row pattern and kit, the two women at the register were decidedly unpleasant. I was informed that the license plate for 2016 was not at the store yet and the advertised block with the cardinal for Virginia was also not available. They told me to come back later today and they should have it available, but they were not sure. They then began bickering with each other and fussing at a little dog that was in the shop. All my past experience has been with Kiki. She is wonderful and makes you feel welcome when you come in. The two at the front register today need to be moved to a stock room until they learn how to act appropriately in front of customers.

This is a high quality quilting store: great classes at reasonable prices, excellent fabrics, I wish they had more notions (zippers, bias binding, etc) for one-stop shopping. If you are looking for cheap fabrics at outlet prices, dont go here. If you are sewing an heirloom quilt to hand down for generations, dont go anywhere else. Yes, sometimes the staff seem preoccupied with other matters (a few dont understand their computer system at all). But be a little patient: staff has a lot of quilting knowledge but are sometimes stretched thin. Have not used their Bernina service, but they have a great range (and knowledge about) Bernina accessories. And, no, I have never worked there.

I love this store and all the people in it. I have bought my Berninas from four stores and this is by far the best. I can not say enough about the service, the repairs, the fabrics and the gerenal help available in the store. I was there today and heard one of the oweners ask one of her employees to show a customer how to bind her quilt. As always the help was given accurately, freely and cheerfully. Once when I was there, another customer came into the store and said that she didnt need anything, she just stopped by to say "Hi". Now where else would that happen? Please come and support this store, I dont think that anyone would be dissappointed. Sylvia

Took a professional tote class (first one) with Myra. I thought she was an excellent teacher. The other ladies answered questions about a tote I had made previously and how to make improvements on my next one. I found everyone to be helpful, friendly and the teacher competent and patient. Im looking forward to my next class. Not sure what issues caused others to write bad reviews but I was pleased with the class, the service. However I am an old lady of 65. If someone is making the younger folks feel uncomfortable they are out of their flippin mind. Everyone who is interested in fabric, sewing or crafting should be welcome and helped by those they ask.

Awful place, upon entering the store, being the only customer in there, no one greeted me or even looked up. I had a heavy sewing machine in my arms to bring it in for service - The employee was so rude and unhelpful that I ended up leaving. What a bust. You can tell that all the other reviews with 5 stars were written by the staff. If they spent more time with their customers and less time writing themselves wonderful reviews theyd be better off!

Never again! I have visited this shop on various days and hours, trying to give the benefit of the doubt. On almost every occasion, the personnel have been rude, unhelpful and down right unpleasant. The selection of fabric is sparse. I would rather travel to Madison or Richmond where there is a choice of fabric with bright and cheerful employees willing to help. Good Riddance!

Only nice thing about this stores the little girl who smiled at me when I walked. I asked a woman if they sold a particular item and she said "No, we only sell high end fabrics here" like I was beneath her. Wont go back. Well, maybe I will, but only to say hello to the cute little girl that was sweet to smile at me.
