Dear male kitchen worker(Hector?), You need a lesson in cooking GOURMET foods. These sandwiches go for ten buck a pop. I dont think you make that in an hour so have some respect for the ingredients, if nothing else. When I order a high-end(ish) burger the last thing you/I want to see is some hump press all the juices out of the quality patty. This may fly at Wendys but it should not at any establishment or any place that uses quality meat. If you dont have product knowlege, dont front like you do($)... I blame the training not you. I DO blame you for your macho man ego that is totally unfounded and simply not backed up by the lack of quality you assemble day in & day out. You may have mad skills at the HO-JO or IHOP on RT 1 but you are simply a bad fit for the Red Apron. I have been to the Union Market & Penn Quarter locations and they are awesome and look forward to getting quality products in the future. The back bar at the Penn Quarter location is really a nice addition to the concept. The truly scary thing is THE attitude that is dispensed with every order. It should be placed on the menu as one of the many additional toppings. If you have no customer service abilities in English that must breed some inner angst... sorry, I still speak English and have yet to convert. BURGER=LOST IN TRANSLATION...

We have been there a couple times since we moved from oldtown Alexandria to Fairfax because we really liked Cheesetique and we wanted to find a butchery closer to us so we dont have to drive all the way back to oldtown. But the customer service at Red Apron is just horrible. They are so slow there! Yesterday, I was there again asking for 7 sausages of different kinds (I did not ask for a bratwurst sausage). When I looked at the receipt I got, I noticed he charged me for 2 bratwurst sausages which were over $7 (why are they so expensive??!!?). And when I got home, I realized he only packed 5 sausages instead of 7!! I am not going there again until they have hired someone who is actually capable. Also, I dont like their meat selection there that much either. Its very pricey but not as good as Cheesetique. Im willing to pay more if the meat and service are really good but Red Apron disappoints every time.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I usually like to do positive reviews that help businesses that deserve it but this place is a ripoff. I have been here twice as I get my haircut next door and both times I was seriously underwhelmed. I paid for a $12+ Turkey sandwich and what I got was the equivalent of a $4 premade sandwich from Safeway. I dont mind spending a lot for a sandwich if its worth it. Sandwich was extremely dry and tasteless- if you are going to have a sandwich where you use super thick Italian sub roll then use fresh bread because mine was stale. I literally could not identify the artichoke spread that was on there. 80% stale bread, 10% turkey, and 10% arugula. Red Apron owner - order the turkey sandwich under cover after you read this and then tell me if you would 1 - actually enjoy it and 2 - think its worth $12+. [end disgruntled review]

Love this place. Tried most of their menu but keep going back for the burger and fries. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. We normally take our food to go so we cant say much for the sit down portion of the restaurant. It does have a nice atmosphere but we have a young baby who wont sit still for very long. They have on occasion made my burger rarer than I ordered, but if theres any place that its okay to eat bloody meat, this would be it! If you like sloppy joes, try taking some of theirs home. Also, do yourself a favor and try their bacon, cut how ever thin or thick you want. It tastes like candy. Hot dogs and cut meats are good as well. As a cherry on top, you can go next door to Moms organic market while you wait for your food :D We make the trip from Leesburg to mosaic at least once a month for this treat.

My boyfriend tried this place out and for some reason he really couldnt stop begging me to come here with him. I ordered the bacon burger well done and he had some super huge man burger which I thought looked delicious. I took a bite off my burger only to find out that the bacon wasnt as I ordered, but was rare and juicy. I almost puked and I had to save half the burger for my boyfriend to eat at home. It broke my heart that he was so disappointed. I wanted to like this place but I just hate eating bloody juicy meat and they kind of screwed it up for me. I did however like that other than allowing you to order all sorts of meat for your own recipes, along with done up burgers and meals while you wait for them to prepare your take home slabs of steak.

Always wanted to try this place and today I got the chance. I came here without much expectations as I was pretty hungry for food. I got the porkstrami sandwich and my god it was the best sandwich Ive had (Yes, even tops the sandwich from Cenote)! Everything from the bread to the meat was made fresh, so you know youre in for a treat. The bread itself was soft and just the right crisp on the outside. The porkstrami? Its like when you take a bite of something that came right out of the kitchen, the subtle aroma, the tender texture of the meat gave the sandwich a rich flavor. I give this sandwich a power level 9999.9. COUGH! P.s. They also house a large unique set of beers for you folks. Definitely coming back for more.

My go-to burgerjoint these days... I was a diehard Rays Hellburger eater until I had the original burger here at Red Apron. Combine one of the best burgers in the area with beef fat french fries and a great selection of beer? What more does someone need to come here and eat their food?! This is also a butcher location, but none of the butchery is done on-premise... its all done in DC and shipped here so you cant really get custom cuts that arent already in the case. That isnt to say the choices lack, they just might not have what you want that day.

I have been twice for lunch. My first visit I had the pork-stramil sandwich which was excellent. The amount of meat is a little light, but the flavor is excellent and the bread is perfect. My second visit I had the burger, which was about the right size. The flavor was excellent and the bun was just right. My only issue is the meat had several pieces of bone/grissel in it which was surprising since the meat is ground there and Id hope theyd have a bit more control over this. Other than that, it was a great burger.

Red Apron has my favorite meatball sandwich. Its like crack in a roll. Ive been going here since shortly after its opened and a few months in they started offering soft serve as well with flavors constantly changing. When they have it you definitely have to try the fruity pebbles cereal milk flavor (ask for extra fruity pebbles). Their burger is delicious as well and of course the beef fat rosemary, garlic fries. SO GOOD.
