Poorly Managed & Not Trustworthy. In full transparency it took several decent visits to the Mclean Butcher before I had 2 experiences that were bad enough to warrant never going back. On two different occasions I placed a custom order for Chicken Sausage and on both occasions the butcher didnt have it done. I call ahead b/c I live 20-30 min away. The first occasion I didnt find out that my order wasnt ready until I got there. It turned out the person I placed the order with didnt relay the specifics so my chicken order was never made. There appeared to be chicken sausage in the case with a hand written "chix" on the label. The package didnt look like chicken but the guys behind the counter assured me it was. I got it home / cooked it - not chicken. The second occasion I called ahead, placed the order, mentioned my previous issue and asked them to confirm that I could come get the following day. The following day I got a phone call when I was turning onto their street asking me "when did I plan on coming to get my order" - again - not ready. So between not following through on orders and mislabeling products - I would not recommend this place. Its a shame b/c when weve been able to get the food we ordered - we liked it.

We have been shopping at this butcher shop several times a week for nearly 10 years. Excellent meat and very helpful staff. Special orders, smoked meats, game, etc are never a problem here! If you want something that is not on display, simply ask - if it isnt in the coolers, they can usually order if for you. There is a gourmet grocery store directly across the street, but their meat doesnt even come close to the quality.

I was sold a rotten turkey but didnt realize it until I got it home. So David told me to return it for another one. I did and this turkey has a thermometer in it and was partially frozen. I thought they were all fresh and organic. I dont know what I got now. I will never shop here again. This was my first experience there and it was chaotic and a fiasco.
