Occasionally overpriced (looking at you, furniture department) but still a fun place to shop and look around. You can always find a treasure! I bought a pool float for my baby for $1, and it was in near perfect condition. It should also be noted that Deseret Industries works closely with Catholic Community services and provides many, many goods for FREE to the homeless, poor, and even refugee families. After an easy interview process, people can receive a voucher for their local DI for a certain amount, and can go shop for the things they need - clothing, bedding, furniture, housewares. Naturally, they cant give everything away for free. They have overhead, utility bills, and provide job training and a pay check to a wide spectrum of people. Most people are like me, not destitute, but happy to find a bargain, and happy to pay a low price for the things that make our lives easier.

Lady at the collectible case really bothered me as she pulls an item away from me that Im intent on purchasing to put it back away. Really? Its a $7 item and it was really rude. Management needs to train their staff better. I had my hands on it the entire time I was asking to see prices on other items and as soon as I let go of it, she took it away. For that matter, their procedure for buying items out of the display case is super annoying. Normal thrift stores hold items up front by the register, these yahoos make you purchase a claim ticket and then walk all the way back to retrieve it. Yall need to get your procedures on how you handle people figured out. You make it wildly inconvenient to purchase something.

If you have things lying around the house to get rid of, take them here. The DI does so much for those that need on the job training, and they use what you donate to do so. I drop by here on occasion to see if there are any hidden gems as well. The inside is clean and organized, so its easy to find what youre looking for.

I find it interesting that our charitable donations that we give to the poor for free are made into priced items to buy. If the Mormon church really wanted to help the poor, the items that were given freely would then be given freely to the poor.

There is always something to look at, and sometimes you find something you just were not expecting to find and the it is. Hit and miss but the more you visit the more you can find something neat.

This DI is great, and the people that work there are always friendly. This DI tends to have a better selection than the one in Provo, so it is worth the drive to come up here.

Decent selection, but at times it can be very picked over. Make sure to check the "yard" section for what your looking for.
