I have 5 dogs who go to Pet Galaxy for grooming (as often as I can take them). I have also boarded 3 dogs there (a few years ago). Not only would I take them back again and again, I often recommend them. I have only been mildly disappointed a couple of times but it was my Scotties grooming. Since they are not as common as other breeds, groomers dont get much of a chance to practice. So I took my grooming manual (specific for Scotties) with the pages marked for the groomer to reference. She was not insulted and she actually welcomed the chance to look through the book! My Scottie came back looking very much like a Scottie should look. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, even if I have a ton of questions. The groomer comes out if she is not busy and says "Hi" to me and the "boys". The staff pretty much remembers their names, and they actually do well with that since we dont get to take the dogs very often. My dogs are treated with respect (even though the Scottie can be difficult) and I dont hear complaints. Just good-natured comments about the feistiness of Scotties and praise of the other 4 dogs pleasantness. The two elderly gentlemen get extra gentle care. They come home clean and smelling fresh but Pet Galaxy doesnt use a bunch of stuff that can irritate their skin. Im always impressed! The cost is moderate, but you get more than you pay for. The climate controlled kennels are kept clean, I see fresh water, each dog has a clean bed, and each kennel offers a fenced-in area for fresh air and other business. Another reason I like taking my dogs there is I know they are safe. The facility is set back off of Hwy 281 and the dogs are carefully monitored. Each time I have been there there is adequate staffing to assure consistent care. Be assured that I wont take my dogs anywhere that I feel is mediocre. If it does cost any more than other places it is well worth it for the personal, loving care my dogs get. You just have to visit to see all the great things about Pet Galaxy. As a side note, I dont have a cat, but I love the cat condos. Very cool and very safe from my terriers!

We rescued a 6-month-old English Pointer that had been dumped. He came to us with all sorts of issues, mostly that he was deathly afraid of people he didnt know, and any unfamiliar situation. He was also dog aggressive, and he had bitten two men on our property within a 6-month period. He also attacked and almost killed our male chow chow mix. We were at wits end as to what to do with him, and after observing Frank work with several dogs, AND after seeing the end result of some of the dogs, I decided to sign up Cooter for Pet Galaxys "Lodge and Learn" training program and see what Frank could do with him. (We had considered euthanasia at one point because Cooter was so out-of-control.) Cooter stayed at Pet Galaxy and Frank worked with him for one month. My heart swells with pride today to announce that my once aggressive, fearful, boy now walks like an ANGEL on the leash, behaves like a perfect gentleman in public, and now greets visitors to our house with a soft, melodic howl instead of an aggressive, snarling bark. I truly believe Frank works miracles with dogs, EVEN the most aggressive, difficult cases. I could not recommend Frank or Pet Galaxy any more highly. They saved my boys life, and I would not hesitate to take any dog back to them again for boarding/playcare, or training! Frank and Lynn (the owners) are the BEST, and truly love and care for every single dog (or cat!) that enters their establishment. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!

We volunteer at a local animal shelter. We had adopted out a little border collie puppy to a nice family. Six months later they had to return the him due to change in circumstances. Instead of a nice, well-adjusted 9 month puppy, we had an out of control, nipping, very afraid of people, guarding his food and water, over-excited kind of border collie. We were much at wits end cause we knew our AJ needed more help than we could possibly give. We were so fortunate to have Frank work with us. AJ was enrolled in the Lodge and Learn program. He stayed there for 4 weeks and what a world those 4 weeks made. And while he was there - a potential adoptor entered the picture! Just last weekend we all saw AJ for the first time and couldnt believe the change. The adoptor was so impressed as were we. AJ went to a new home and a new beginning because of Frank and Lyns efforts. And what I love the most about Pet Galaxy is not that Frank can help the dogs but he also helps the owners. He explained to us the training and showed what AJ learned and then walked us thru the steps. He provided us a humorous insite into the way a dogs think which I believe every person who owns or plans to own a dog should hear. We are so happy with the results that we are in the process of getting more funds to help us engage Franks help with some of our other dogs waiting to be adopted. Thanks again!

We love Pet Galaxy. I toured the facilities before and saw first hand how clean the cages were and how much room the kennels were and that the dogs had indoor and outdoor access. Indoor only is also available. We made arrangements for a late pickup (one hour later than the normal pickup time--extra cost but worth it) and they made sure that someone was there and all of our paperwork was completed. They really do their best to work with their clients and customers. The groomers did a good job on my retriever mix. I was first put off by the "appearance" of the facility because the lot in front had/has weeds and overgrown, but their facility is behind the HWY frontage lot. Also, there is someone on premise overnight when there is threats of thunderstorms! We have boarded our dogs there a few times and they are as excited to go there as they are to come home. They have an outside play area with a splash area and it seems to be in the shade. There is a vet clinic about 100 yards down the road (next lot over) and they also partner with my vet in Bulverde. They make my prep work for the dogs first visit very easy. They are very professional and the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. The location is easy on/off Hwy 281 N. I have recommended them to several people.

I dropped off my dogs at 9:00 a.m. Saturday and picked them up at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. I was very happy with everything until it came time to pay the bill. Then I was given a total that was 100.00 more than I had been quoted. Of course, I was shocked and disputed the charge, but was told that anytime there is a Sunday pick up, they automatically add another night to the bill. This was never brought up during the phone calls I made to arrange my dogs stay or when I dropped them off. I felt very disappointed and wondered if this was deliberate since it is difficult to dispute a charge when the kennel has my dogs. I spoke wth Pet Galaxy, and while they apologized for not mentioning the additional fee, they would only offer a 40.00 credit on my next visit. Unfortunately, I would not use them again since I wouldnt trust them not to do the same thing.
