For the want of $10, the store lost hundreds per year from me vowing to never purchase from them again. I was there for their grand opening. I described exactly the type of item I was looking for and what I needed it to do, and made sure they knew that if it didnt work out for my purposes, I had no use for the item and would need to try a different item instead. It goes without saying that their prices make it nearly impossible to risk throwing money at products that dont suit my needs. Regardless, I was never given the impression that I couldnt return it if it didnt work out. When it ends up *not* working out, and I repackage it *exactly* as I got it from them, I go to exchange it, and am asked if I had opened it. Stupidly being the honest person that I am, I told them yes. They said they could not accept it as a return or exchange. I even said I would give them my information to give to any other customer who purchased it, and if they had *any* problems with it, *I* would give that customer their money back. The most the owner/manager would do (in their FIRST week of business there) would be to give me $10 of the $20 I spent on it. So, in essence, Id have paid $10 to them, and have NOTHING to show for it. Dont get me wrong, Id have had no problem with their policy of no returns after opening IF I HAD BEEN MADE AWARE OF IT any time prior or during my purchase. The salesman who rang me up, it was his FIRST day there. Anybody else working there that day, other then the owner, had a week or less on the job. Apparently, after a lengthy discussion with said owner/manager, the only time they *might* make exceptions is if youre spending upwards of $400-500 there. At a time. I might have been able to drop a couple hundred there per year, but after my opening weeks experience with them, NEVER will that branch see another dime from me. This is not a knee-jerk reaction review, this has been TWO YEARS of me being p*****d off at how the situation was handled. Truly, this is a BUYER BEWARE scenario.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This review is about Firelands Group, the parent company of Hobby Town. My son used his allowance to purchase a special battery for his RC car. The warranty on the battery was for 30 days. At 3 weeks one of the wires became disengaged from the battery pack. The company is refusing to replace the battery and has implied that it is our fault that the battery broke. Never mind that the other 3 wires are still intact; they will NOT consider that maybe the one wire was not sufficiently soldered. So now my child has no battery and Hobby Town could care less. Additionally, there is no recourse to complain to corporate. Dont bother talking to customer service (Andy and Will) because they just keep repeating the same information over and over without any consideration that we got a lemon and they should just replace it!!!

I went here to get a few Lipo batteries. Great selection and the young lady was very helpful. I went to pay by debit card (more than $100) and they told me that since my card didnt have a chip they couldnt accept it. He said the owner said they only accept cards with chips. He told me I needed to go withdraw cash and pay him cash. Needless to say I will not go back there. I went to Roys for the first time and found all I need and then some. The people were friendly and wanted my business. I will continue to patron Roys, not the Grapevine Hobbytown.

I purchased a Blade Nano QX from another hobby shop and made a trip to this HobbyTown to look at the cost of a new motor. Jeff showed me the new motor, and offered to let me bring my quadcopter in for him to have a look. It turns out that one of the blades was on the wrong motor. The service Ive received at this store, compared to all other hobby shops in the area, has been above excellent. The store is a bit on the smaller side, but still has everything you need. Great store!

Bought my first hobby grade rc at this location last year. Have had nothing but stellar support from everyone I have dealt with and have spent more money hopping up/replacing parts I have broken on my initial rc purchase. I have even gotten better pricing than I can find online on lipo batteries and chargers. Gerald in particular is extremely knowleagleable and helpful when I need to fix something or try something new. Will be making all my future purchases from them.

Went in one night later in the evening but still well before close and seemed to have "bothered" the employees. I went to another hobby town to buy my axial trophy truck. Second chance after thinner man with white hair was rude to me and had no sense of humor. Ill make the trip somewhere else for things. If I want to be treated like that,Ill go to Walmart.

The only store rep I had interaction with bumped me while walking past talking on his cellphone. No apology. This happened today, young guy in a maroon polo. Went in there looking for models of either sports cars or star trek ships, didnt find a whole of either and most of what I did find was simple snap together stuff. Not going back.

The most ridiculous return policy ever. I was basically hustled into buying a battery and adapters from them when they couldnt fix mine. Never opened it. Try to return it because I sold the re car only to find out they will only give you store credit even with original receipt I j

I have nothing but good things to say about the Hurst location. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. YOUR HOBBY IS THEIR HOBBY! And they are more than happy to help you when you need parts, advice or just want to talk about the last adventure your hobby took you on.

Very pleasant and knowledgeable. The remodel makes for a much more welcoming environment. They dont seem as interested in "pushing" expensive stuff on you as they would rather help educate you and help you find what fits your needs.

Staff is friendly, helpful, and amazingly knowledgeable. I had a rough idea of some supplies and techniques I would be using and they helped me refine what I needed and how I was going to do my project. Awesome!
