After reading most of the reviews I was scared to even get my eyes done here. But my friend that recommend Dr. Carter told me he had a great experience and didnt no what they are talking about. It started with me making a phone call about a week ago on 06/17/2016 I talked to John (very knowledgeable) about the procedure. So I set a appointment for 06/24/2016 at 12:30 because I had a 5 hr drive to Dallas. He was very easy to talk to he told me about the pro and cons of the surgery. On 06/22/2016 I got a phone call from John to see if I can be at the office at 11:00 instead of 12:30. So I show up at 11:00 expecting to have this long wait. But when I showed up the longest wait I had was my fault for not writing faster lol. As soon!!!! as I filled out the paperwork I was taking back( by John when I talked to him on the phone I didnt know that he was actually one of the eye tech ) to do their eye exam. When I finish the eye exam John took me to the waiting room. I was thinking ok here comes the wait. Well about 5mins later I dont remember his name but he came and got me and took me back to this little room and talked more about what to expect and that I had to meet with Dr. Carter to see if I could have the surgery. Then I was took back to the waiting room. Waited for about another 5mins. Then I was took to another eye exam room where Dr. Carter that looks a lot younger than I expected came in and looked at my eyes and said that I am good to have the surgery. So then I go back to the waiting room. Then they came and got me took me to a room they called the relax room and got me ready for surgery. Then John came in said that they were ready for me in surgery. Then about 30 minutes later my eyes were fixed. The experience in whole was great. Everyone was very friendly. My whole wait time without seeing anyone was 15-20 min. The only regret I have is that I didnt have it done a long time ago. I wore contacts for 20 plus years and I can see better the day after my surgery than I could with my contacts.

I recently made the mistake of choosing Carter Eye Center as the place to get my annual eye exam. They are over priced, discourteous, and unconcerned with the satisfaction of their patients. A contact eye exam was 100- even with my vision insurance. They failed to honor a 15% discount that my insurance mandates, and even went so far as to lie to the insurance when someone contacted them about this. After answering "yes" to whether or not I get headaches, they charged me for an additional $50 and billed my medical insurance an exorbitant amount. They claimed that my visit was then considered a "specialist" visit since I wanted to see the MD doctor (I was not allowed to see the doctor, just the standard OD). They failed to get my permission to do any additional tests, nor did they disclose the amount they would be charging me. I would rather go to a vision center in Wal-Mart than ever go back to that place. I spent four hours from the time I saw the first technician and during the last hour and a half, I had to witness the office manager and receptionist bicker and yell at one another. This place does not care about their patients; instead only worrying about ensuring they are able to bamboozle as much money as possible. If you decide to visit them for your eye care needs, I can guarantee you will regret it.

I came in for lasik and filled out the paperwork, got examined, had my eyes dilated then was prompted to schedule my surgery. I arrived on surgery day and went over the last bit of paperwork and after-care instructions then was moved to the "relaxation room". I was given 10mg of valume and some anti-biotic eye drops. I sat there for about 30 minutes and then was walked into the operation room. I will admit the valume did absolutely nothing to calm me and my nerves down. I was given numbing drops several times then the procedure lasted 10 minutes. After that, I stood up (a little foggy) and got plugs put into my eyes to help with my dry eye. My plastic covered were taped on and I walked out myself. I was driven and reccomend having someone drive you. I went home and went to sleep. I did experience burning in my eyes but some extra strength Tylenol helped me feel comfortable. The plastic coverings stayed on until I woke up the next morning and feeling like a million bucks because I COULD SEE! A little hazy, but overall so so happy with the results. Very painless and overthought the entire process so much. It actually is very very easy. Id prefer lasik to getting even my teeth cleaned! Dr. Carter talks to you and answered every question I had and handled my anxiety very well prior and during the operation.

Let me start by saying this has been the worst experience of my LIFE. I had my lasik done in houston by Mann Eye and was referred to Dr. Carter when I moved to Dallas to look at my dry eye. Dr Carter was SO rude to his assistant and made me uncomfortable. He put Plugs in my eyes and when he did the right eye, it hurt SO bad. I shook it off but about 2 weeks later my eye was almost swollen shut. Long story short, I went to the ER and had to be treated with heavy meds. It was a horrible infection. Dr carters office charged me for EVERY visit even when I came in sobbing uncontrollably due to the pain. Then on top of that, THEY BILLED ME for a visit when I had it on my bank statement that I paid. He was unable to help me so I went to dr Mark Jaffe and he has been an absolute GOD SEND. Ive called Dr Carters office and left THREE VOICEMAILS and no one has bothered to call me back. I have NEVER been this upset about a doctor and their office in my entire life. I could elaborate even more on how horrible this was but it makes me sick even talking about it. Mann Eye in houston will hear about this too and I hope they NEVER refer ANYONE to Dr Carters office again.

WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL I went to Carter Eye Center and had the same experience as many on here. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment so I could complete all the paperwork before my appointment time which I did. 35 minutes past my appointment time when no one had said a word to me I went back to the receptionist and asked if I had possibly written down the wrong appointment time. No she told me it was 35 minutes ago. She went to the back, I assumed to get me a status but upon her return she walked right past me without even looking at me. Another 15 minutes passed and still no one had said anything, no we’re running late or please bear with us. I will not spend thousands of dollars with someone so unprofessional and so disrespectful of my time. I cancelled my appointment nearly an hour after its’ scheduled time and left. Many online reviews of this place all say the same thing, I wish I had read them first; I would never have gone and could have accomplished something with the two hours they cost me traveling and sitting.
