We enjoy a good deal, the bargain-hunters, the Craigs-lister variety, yard-sale scavengers and cruise sites like Gilt, Etsy, Ideeli, etc. We want to know that we are getting more for our money and possibly finding items more unique than heading to the mainstream stores (think Zales and Jareds). I knew just of the place. C. Kirk Roots Designs, here in the Austin Arboretum, walking distance from my work is in complete liquidation mode, everything 20%-60% off of their prices. I peeked in first to make sure there was a reason to bring him along and sure enough, there was. I brought him in and upon first opinion, customer-service was at an all-time low. I dont get it. With this economy, these times, you cant spring for a cheery attitude and a fake smile? Cmon folks, not even for people willing to drop a few thousand dollars on an engagement ring and wedding band? Bad move. The sales associates seem to work against one-another rather than with/for one another... And, then there is Bruce. I have no idea what Bruce does. None. Is he a jeweler, a sales-associate, or just an abrasive jerk (so many other words would be fitting here) that has zero-social skills... apparently, the latter. The owner made the biggest mistake by allowing Bruce near clients. You do realize your sales associates are the face of the company?!? My boyfriend and I decided to drop this place like a bad habit and peruse a half a dozen other places. I, unfortunately, though couldnt stop thinking about the first ring I tried on at C. Kirk Root. We hesitantly went back. My leading man even said, "I want you know, if you didnt like that ring so much, I would not give them our business." The moment we walked in, we said, "We do not want to be waited on by Bruce." The other associates there at the time said something to the likes that he is harmless and from Boston. Well, Bruce... you are in Texas and some Southern manners need to be developed real quick, Sweetheart. We were waited on by Linda and she was as informative, as she was sincerely nice. She was extremely patient with us while answering a plethora of our questions. We decided that we were going to go with the ring that I havent been able to stop thinking about since day 1. We put some cash down and put the ring on hold for him to call back and sort out the intricate details. Well, thats what he did. And, guess what... because they are in liquidation mode they offer zero-forms of financing. And, honestly that really isnt that big of a problem for us. But, I can imagine that the inflexibility would put other couples in a pickle. My man offered 50% down (in cash), to pay the remaining balance of 50% in 60 days. Again, the answer was, "No". Nothing... 100% no wiggle room. And, why? Your store is in liquidation mode, which I can only imagine because of this economy and because your customer service is non-existent. Why would you turn your nose up at a guaranteed sale with business to grow. They just lost an engagement ring, wedding bands-his and hers, and custom design work. C. Kirk Root Designs, you are the reason why people request O-stars. Because, that is what you deserve. Thanks for nothing other than ruining what should have been a memorable engagement experience with my man and filling it with a dark, empty void and serious heart-burn.

I had an idea for what kind of ring I wanted to get my girlfriend but nothing I found was exactly what I wanted. So I decided to just design my own and find someone to make it. After a few google searches I found this jeweler near me that said they could do custom designs. A few months ago I went there with a custom design for a ring for my girlfriend (now fiance), and I couldnt be happier with the experience. I brought them a design I had made for a ring inspired by zelda/lord of the rings and not only were they familiar with creating rings like this (was not expecting that), Chris even knew what the language I was using for the inscription was (Hylian, the language used in Zelda games). From start to finish they were very helpful with suggesting the type/quality of stones to use, and overall design. Daniel who made the final CAD design was create to work with as well and I couldnt be happier with the final result. When I went to pick it up they even told me that if any of the antiquing they did on the ring wore off I could bring it back for a touch up at no charge. That being said its still just as beautiful now as they day I got it. My fiance absolutely loves the ring and Im so thankful to Chris, Daniel, and everyone else there that helped me bring this beautiful ring into the world.

We got my ring from Kirk Root and I just love it. Dan, their in-house jeweler, took the time to show me just about every ring in the cases, explained the make, stone setting, why things are the way they are ect. He is extremely knowlegdeable and KNOWS his stuff, which may come off a bit as cockiness, but trust me, when Dan makes a suggestion about your ring size or anything else, trust him. I had to learn the hard way; he said I was a 4.25 I said 5....well I was wrong and had to suffer an additional week without my ring because I did not listen the first time. Now I always trust him. There were a few issues along the way, which is to be expected when you customize a ring as elaborate as mine, but overall everything turned out amazing. It has been months and I still look at my ring and sigh...Dan will be doing my custom bands next year. Kirk, the owner, is a Master Gemological Appraiser, a prestigious and rarely earned title. He was involved, caring and helpful throughout our 1 month journey to our final choice. Thanks Dan, Kirk, Lori ,Amy and all the ladies at Kirk Root Designs. You all are awesome!!

Cub and the entire staff at C. Kirk Root Designs were wonderfully helpful in my engagement ring purchasing experience! I did not know much to start, and literally spent hours on multiple occasions picking Cubs brain, converging on a fantastic ring within my budget. I cant emphasize enough how painless the process was from my side, but also how much I put the staff through the ringer (and their patience!)! Having learned about rings, I had some very specific preferences, and had Cub showing me multiple stones under their microscope, highlighting individual flaws and their type. I was also very specific on no fluorescence in the stone or melee, and this made for more work than normal on their part! I would wholeheartedly recommend Cub Root and C. Kirk Root Designs.

Fantastic service and great communication are every bit what my customer experience was like. I worked with C.Kirk Root to create some custom diamond earrings for my wife for a special occasion present. The Team was always there to answer questions along a the way and they kept me posted with progress updates (the entire process took about 8weeks, perfectly on time). The earrings turned out spectacularly! They are great at the little things too. Last year I was walking by and remember my watch needed a new battery. They happily and quickly helped with the repair, and that was before I decided to make a major purchase with them - at that point I was just a guy who walked in off the street. I would rank them 6 stars if I could!
