I had come into this shop a few months ago just wanting to see all the different kinds of bikes their were and decide which one would be the best choice for me. The sales representative who spoke to me, while very knowledgeable and attentive, was also very pushy and said some rather offensive things on our test ride up the back street behind the shop I think in an effort to try to relate to me. Talking about how hed ridden all over on his bike etc..and hung with "the riff-raff" on the East side of town and had no trouble. They all just partied together. Ate tacos and whatnot. :/ I couldnt, and probably never will be able to afford to buy a bike from Bike World. The one he showed me cost more than half my rent, however nice a ride it was. I only came in to see the bikes and talk to them so that when I could afford to buy a bike a later, I would be making an informed decision. And to his credit...Patrick I think his name was... helped me to be able to do that. I think it would benefit both him and the store if hed tone it down a bit. I bought a bike finally and needed to put air in the tires. Not being able to afford anything other than necessaries at the moment I elected to walk down the street to this store to get my tires filled. But due to the experience Id had before I was very reluctant to return. I got my tires filled by some of the other associates. All very nice and attentive and then asked about tire guages while he was sitting next to me perched on his bike bragging about how many races hed won. I felt real under pressure to buy, and in the end just walked out after getting my tires filled because he made me so uncomfortable. And then as I and my fiance walked by he yelled, "Aw cmon, buy a pump from us! Spend some money!" And I honestly felt I couldnt get away fast enough. I will not be returning to this bike world. I just dont feel comfortable shopping or getting serviced here. The only reason Im giving two stars is for the good information I was given on my first visit.

Never again ..Super crappy service I brought in back up Giant carbon road bike to get hangar replaced with rear derailer and chain in a bag and was told that they had the part and that the mechanic was out to lunch but he would call back with repair estimate and when it should be ready. A day and a half later I had to call back check on the status of my bike. The service guy knew nothing about my bike and asked about additional parts.. He then said that he would have to order parts. I was told that you had the part he said thy he had a whole drawer full. He said that they are not Giant dealers and that I should take it to a Giant dealer and if I wanted fixed sooner.. I said OK on my way to pick it up. F them Ill never buy a single product from them or have them work on any of my three high end bikes.. 1. Never got a call back 2. Quote initial three times what I was into at quoted. 3. I was told to take it to Giant dealer With bike repair shops abundant in SA this place just lost a former great customer.

Went in here after going to San Antonio Bike Shop. Night and day. Im so glad I brought my bike here. CP helped me and his daughter played a cup song that kept it fun. He answered all of my questions with no problem. The store seemed kind of busy but I couldnt tell. They got my bike in for same day service and spent about 90 minutes doing it. Originally I went in just for a tune up, but found out my brake cables needed replacing and the other place had jacked up my tires. I didnt even know you could mess up tires, but I learned today. Two tunes, tune up, and replacement brake cable and housing cost me ~50 bucks. And they have a military discount. I guess if I had a gripe I could say check tires on the basic tune up. We found the tire issues on an afterthought. All said and done, it was an excellent experience. I learned a lot. No knew tried to up sell everything. All of my questions were answered. Im a new lifelong customer.

I bought a used Trek bicycle at a pawn shop and took it to Bike World on Broadway on a Thursday to be repaired. (We have purchased new Trek bikes at this store and have been satisfied.) I was told that the repairs would be $100-150 and could be completed by the following Wednesday. I called the following Wednesday and was told the repairs would be completed that evening and they would call me back. I did not receive a callback and on Friday called to determine the status of the repair. I was told that no work had been done and the repairs would cost more than $350. I was told I could buy a similar new bike for an additional $100-200. I feel this is very poor service because: 1. The original quote for cost and time for repair was inaccurate. 2. I never received a call back. 3. This felt like "bait and switch" to me. 4. This indicates to me that Bike World is more interested in sales than service.

I had the best experience purchasing my Trek Verve 1 from Bike World off Broadway in Alamo Heights. From the day I walked in to try out bikes to the final purchase. My store guide was Tom Eastwood, hes been working at Bike a World for over two decades and is super knowledgeable about bikes, biking, bike fitting, etc. he was very patient as I tried out several bikes to find the right one. We ultimately decided to try the Verve 1 but it was at their north side store. He called them and had them bring it to their store for me to try out. The Verve 1 was an excellent choice and I love riding my bike. I highly recommend Tom Eastwood and the Alamo Heights Bike World for your bike needs. They are all nice folks who work there, not pushy or snooty, just passionate people who want to help you find the right bike to suit your needs. Thanks to Tom and the rest of the Bike World, love my bike!!

this is a great place 5 star easily i been buying stuff here for years is on walking distance from my home great CRM and fast service they are always friendly and helpful, they explain everything they can and wherever doubt you may have. as for the prices i think they are competitive and fair and for the ones who say is over priced i dont think so specially for the part of town they are located. as for the guy complaining about the reps there are a-holes everywhere, personally i never had such experiences in this place just walk in confident like you own the place remember in which part of town you are you could be anyone from a executive to the owner of HEB, so i dont believe they are a-holes to anyone.

Had an absolutely OUTSTANDING service experience today with Charles at Bike World - Alamo Heights location. Rear wheel was out of true and rear derailleur was skipping gears. Called this morning and was told to bring it in. Expected to drop off bike and get it back later this afternoon. Not only did Charles drop what he was doing and immediately fix my issues, he also re-capped a wire, test rode the bike, greased my chain and gave it a quick bath! All for the tidy sum of $25! In and out in 20 minutes. Absolutely floored by Charles attention to detail. Way to exceed expectations! I think I may have found a new LBS.
