Okay, so today my boyfriend and I went into this books-a-million to check out their blowout sale. It is a Wednesday so it isnt very busy. We werent greeted or asked if we needed any help. After finding what I needed I went and waited in line. There was one register open and only one girl in front of me. She informed the girl behind the counter that she had stopped receiving her magazine. The employee didnt show any interested at all and basically told the girl she couldnt help her. After the girl asked again she replied that she could reorder it, but the girl was just wanting to know what happened to her original subscription. Okay, the girl finishes her purchase and walked off. I step up to the counter and the girl looks at me and then walks off. Not a word to me whatsoever. I am left standing there. Another girl walks up and says that she can get me down on another register. Okay, I moved down and sit my books down on the counter. While I did this the original cashier comes back and starts talking about someone, I am assuming another employee that worked there. The girl now ringing me up turns her head and joins in into the conversation, holding my purchase in her hand for at a minute, keeping me waiting again. Not once did she look at me. Her head was still turned to the other girl when she told me my total and then she was right back to talking about the other employee. My boyfriend ran the card. She pushed my bag toward me and that was it. No have a nice day, I hope you return, nothing. I have worked as a cashier and I work in the hospitality industry. I know this is now how to customers. Hell, this is not how you treat anyone! They need to look into getting a better staff. I will not return to this bookstore. I think I will do my book shopping online.

The store seems to be on a downward trend these last few years. The place is cluttered with junk, the layout literally makes no sense and the quality of service is taking a nose dive. If you buy a bookm, you had best be prepared to be pressured to buy a membership and if not that - subscribe to magazines. Worse still, I recently went in to pick up a copy of Jack McCullums Dream Team book on the official release date of July 10th. After being told it was back in the Sports Section (Basketball) which was not marked as such and a complete mess when I did find where it began in the childs room like display, I could not find it. When I went up front again, the clerk told me that it was not in stock and had sold out on the day they put it out - July 1st. A full 9 days ahead of the embargo. Seriously, the store used to be where I went for books that I wanted. I bought every Potter hardback and stood in line, all of my Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and William Gibson books there at one time or another. However, this store has declined and gotten too comfortable with the fact that it is the only book store in the area. If you must get the book - try Amazon.

Was in the store on Saturday evening looking for a certain book Im paperback had the hard back book. Found the guy working he was putting up some books had the hardback book with me to show and ask if they had it in paperback. He just looked at the book and shook his head no and walked away. As I class walking towards the front of the store to put the book back another customer walked up to the counter with about six in her hand and was asking him about an on line coupon she had and if she could use it on those books he looked at her and told her to read what was on the coupon and she could see what kind of books it could be used for. He didnt seem to mind that there was other customers standing to buy items when he was talking to the other customer. I had a couple of items in my hand I was going to get but with his attitude and the way he was treating everyone I put my stuff down and left and trying to decide if I want to go back there and be treated like that. Ive often been to the store with family now I feel like telling them not to shop there if your going to be treated like this from a worker who is supposed to be friendly and helpful.

Googled what time your store closes and it pops right up on the screen, 11:00. I walked up to the door before 9 and it was already locked. Waited for someone to walk out and I walked in and tried to grab the new Harry Potter book thats about 7 feet away from the door and an older man with shoulder length hair from behind the counter just barks at me "were closed". Not a sorry, nothing. I said "I cant just buy this one book?" And pointed at the stand I was standing next to. Again he raises his voice "Nope, were closed". Not once a sorry. Keep in mind its all while hes still checking out a family. I cant believe how incredibly rude he was. It would have taken him maybe two extra minutes to sell me one $20 book. I drove right to Walmart even though I hate to shop there and got it in five minutes. Im a local and a frequent customer and I can assure you I wont ever be returning to your location seeing as your employees cant even conduct themselves professionally. Maybe hire people who dont seem to hate their job or people who dont speak to potential customers in a disgusted tone.

I was sitting in the floor in the childrens section of the books a million store in Sevierville, TN this afternoon when my daughter says "Gross...they are licking their privates." You cant imagine my horror when I realized she had found a Penthouse magazine on the bottom shelf of the childrens section. My six year old daughter now has been exposed to pornography thanks to Books a Million!! It is bad enough for pornography to be sold in the same store as childrens books, but to have it randomly sitting around is outrageous!! I spoke to the store manager to find out how the store plans to keep other innocent children from being exposed to pornography while shopping for Princess books? Her response was "I wish there was something I could do about it." In other words, they are going to do nothing. So, be aware when you take your children to the book store...you might get more than the Disney book you were looking for!

This has always been my bookstore of choice, but in the last year or so they have gone downhill dramatically. I am in there at least a few times a month to get books and lately it seems I will call to ask if a certain book is in stock and I receive the response that it is, yet when I go to the store they tell me they do not have it. I ask someone to check in the back because I called and it was listed as in stock, and the employees wont even go check, they just say if its in their backstock they "cant get to it". Its just laziness really. Never more than one checkout open, and to get any help finding something you have to chase someone down because they NEVER offer to help.
