REI is one of those fun places to walk around and see what they have to offer. You can find all sorts of neat gadgets. Pros: The employees are very knowledgeable, the products are high quality, REI repairs their brand products if they break from normal use, members get a dividend at the end of their reporting year. Cons: Generally expensive, thus not really a place for the casual camper/hiker/outdoorsman. Most customers are dedicated to the outdoors or are yuppies who like to wear outdoor brands for name recognition only (probably not many of the latter in reality). If I were more of an outdoorsman, this would receive 5 stars.

Ive always loved shopping here, and for many reasons. I always find great stuff, and the people are VERY helpful. The member rewards are awesome. They also stand firmly behind everything they sell. This week I experienced something new... I was checking out and got into my wallet for my membership card, rang out and left. As Im walking to my car I hear a voice calling my name. The lady that checked me out noticed Id dropped a $20 on the ground as I headed out. She chased me to the lot to return it. That says a lot about customer service! Well done, REI.

Great place, great return policy, and pretty good selection of products! Unlike other commentors, I would say that their staff is hit or miss. Wonderful folks in the bike shop for sure, but elsewhere in the store you find some you trust and the others less so. The shoe department is incredibly slow so you might need to be a bit more "aggressive" and flag someone down if you need assistance. Watch for their sales... wow you can get some absolutely incredible deals but you have to keep an eye out for them!

I visited REI this last weekend for the first time to get help and advice on a problem with my bike. Not only was the staff extremely helpful, but they walked me through the maintenance and showed me common problems and how to fix them... not to mention a glaring dangerous mistake left by a different bike shop. They fixed and adjusted my bike on the spot, and spent over an hour helping me.... all for $12. I will never go anywhere else again. Highly recommended.

They will allow you to set up a tent in the back room in order to make sure you can figure it out. However, they will not allow you to spend the night in it in order to determine if you will get a quality nights sleep in it- nor will they allow you to eat any of the Mountain House meals in the store. Great store but not a great place to camp. The showers are very small and look exactly like water fountains.

I just came back from spending an entire afternoon testing out different backpacks. The staff was some of the most professional, knowledgeable, and courteous employees I have ever seen. There was no pressure to buy anything, and I couldnt have been happier with the experience. I love REI, but Ive never written a review about it. It was just that much of a great experience. Thanks REI! Job well done.

Great selection and discounts are offered frequently. Be sure to check out their quarterly member garage sales as well; it has some crazy discounts on scratch and dent items. The staff is usually super helpful and knowledgeable when you need them. Be sure to sign up for the $20 lifetime membership to add a one year return period to your purchase and to receive 10% back.

Walked around the store twice, no one said a word to me. I went to look at bouldering shoes. Their was a clerk in the department helping a pretty girl. I waited for them to finish standing right next to the clerk. The girl left. The clerk turned around, walked right past me without saying anyting. On the bright side, I saved $150.00 from not getting any shoes!

Great store. Tons of recommendations even calling in. Since its in the south the cold gear selection wont be the hugest, especially if planning a trip in northern mountains. And if you cant find something - try High Mountain Outfitters down in franklin. Thats another awesome store. I got back and forth between both of these frequently

Good customer service, great small meeting room for programs or demonstrations. No swimming retail products! Its a shame since Williamson County has the most parks & pools in Tn. Also lacks in goods & products for disc golf & whitewater kayaking. Seems to be geared more for hiking, biking & looking trendy in outdoor apparel.

Brought a solar charger. Unfortunately, it turned out to be used. Called REI and I informed that I got a used product and that I wont be able to come to their store to replace it as I was flying next morning. The store manager, Bill, came himself to my hotel and replaced the product. Amazing customer service.

By far the best customer service both in store and over the phone! REI makes a customer feel special and doesnt intimidate them. All the people working there know what they are selling and most are using it and will be honest with you! Also, you cannot beat their 100% money back guarantee!

Great store. Great service. Ive never had a problem getting help. They have a great selection. If they dont have it in stock, they can order it for you. Ive been an REI custormer for 20 years, and have always been satisfied with the quality of their products and the service offered.

Barret in the bicycle department could not have been more helpful. He was incredibly patient and courteous. He never rushed us, or pushed products we didnt want, listened to our feedback and concerns, and he gave many smart recommendations. This store is lucky to have him.

Waited for over 30 minutes while employee helped 1 customer. Asked other employees for help and they either told me they were clocking out or told me to wait. My question could have been answered in seconds... Thought the 500% markup included customer service too...

I had a great experience today buying a backpack. Annie helped fit me for one my size and showed me all its features. She was very nice to us and knowledgeable about all the different products. Thank you Annie for all your help! I love my new backpack.

This place is terrible. Rude staff and poor selection of inventory. FYI, dont bring your dog.. Because theyre not allowed.. In an outdoor store. I planned on making a purchase and wanted to give REI a chance. Ill happily buy elsewhere.

An uncommonly great corporate retail experience. This staff has always been friendly and helpful. Being the only one in a significant amount of area, this store has fairly large REI garage sales.

One of the smaller REI stores Ive been to but the staff was just as friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to find the bike component I needed and got a recommendation for a new trail to ride

The perfect place to stay with your family. Friendly service, clean rooms, and close to Nashville. No pool for the kids but not a problem if you are visiting for other attractions.

Its a smaller REI than some visitors may be used to, but the employees know their stuff and are happy to help you figure out what you need for any adventure.

Not the biggest REI and the staff put the wrong items on a rack and I almost paid for the wrong item but thats ok! Still the best outdoor store in the world!
