I went to Pet Center to purchase another pet rat. I had recently purchased a pet rat a few months back and I decided it would be in my best interest to purchase the new rat from the same place as the previous rat. When I looked at the tank where the rats where kept, they were in horrifying conditions. The rats were bitten and bleeding. The males and females were kept in the same tank, and there was even a dead rat in the tank! None the less, I decided to get one of the rats in the tank. When I asked the lady who worked there to get it for me she grabbed the rat by the end of the tail (not okay) and handed her to me, not to mention she was so rude and unapproachable. The very next morning my newest rat died and it was very clear she was in extreme pain. Im going to chalk it up to the fact, she was not taken care of at Pet Center. When I called the store to tell the staff about it, the lady answered the phone (once again, totally rude) and told me I could bring the dead rat in to either get another rat or get my money back. I dont care about my money but it was the principle of the matter. When I took my rat back to the store, the man was so rude and asked me if I had purchased the rat as a pet (as if that is unheard of?!). When I told him i did, he was a bit taken back. So none the less, the man gave me my money back and took the rat and threw her in the back. I then asked if I could have her back so I could take her and bury her. The man looked at me and then rolled his eyes. Pet Center should be shut down! ALL the animals are kept in terrible conditions and the staff is so rude.

Ive actually never had a bad experience in this store. The owner was absolutely lovely, and very polite. The staff greeted me and asked if I needed any help. I was able to hold just about any animals I asked for. All of the animals looked happy and healthy. So Im not real sure where people are getting negative vibes from. Regardless I will continue to shop there. Besides, animals getting sick does happen. This should not reflect the owner or the store. This does happen. As far as the puppy, if he was sick then medication was necessary. The puppy isnt going to be willing to take the meds. He doesnt know any better. Im not saying that man handling a puppy isnt necessary but when giving any dog or cat meds you do need to be stern and quick. I would know because Ive done it. Ive even given hamsters medications. Its not an easy process. Besides if you truly had an issue then communicating with the owner or available staff in a professional manner would have been appropriate. They will be more than willing to help you, and help you better understand the situation. Things do occur in a store where the staff cant monitor every second. Unfortunately, things do happen and the staff cant be in 2 places at once, so communicate with them...politely. And every store big or small always needs improvement and the only way for them to improve is to tell the store in person. Not over the internet. The store was great, just like any other small animal store. Regardless my experience was great and I will go back again.

I wasnt going to post, but since I have read the replies from the owner on other complaints, I felt compelled to share my experience. I went into the store Jan. 18th around 1pm. The lady at the register never greeted me, nor spoke to me while I browsed, and didnt say a word when I left. Oh well. I was looking for the plastic caps for my cats nails. I didnt see them. I looked at the birds. I felt sorry for the big green bird because I saw him/her shivering the whole time. I felt like maybe it was a new bird who could have used some calming attention. Then I looked at the puppies. A lady grabbed one of the tiny puppies (like 2 pounds max,) plopped it on the table, pushed its head up, pried open its mouth, and then shot some medicine in. I couldnt watch anymore because I felt bad and was afraid what she did next would upset me. I left and felt uneasy. I had a pit in my stomach. I told my husband I would never purchase anything from that place nor step foot in there again. After reading the owners replies I feel there is no love for the animals, but its a paycheck that is important. IMHO

Very rude staff and awful customer service. Its so sad to see puppies in a dirty enviroment. The puppies were dirty and not cared for. The poor puppies were chewying the cages because they are teething. Give them a treat or something..to chew on besides the metal cage. Let me get back to the staff members, the big man with the shaved head was awful. Not friendly at all. We walked in and he said " .....nothing". And then he said " what do you need" really... sir you are so welcoming. I would not ever support this pet store by spending any money in it. Someone needs to check if this store is a puppy mill. Just walk in the store and look at the conditions of the puppies environment. Its truly devastating. If I had a lot of money I would buy all the puppies from this store, so they could be free from this store. But that would help the store to sell more puppies and grow there business. So sadly... I just pray for the puppies for now.

9 months ago a review was made that is completely false. The birds in the review were HAND-FEEDING BABY BIRDS. They are kept in the smaller cages to keep them safe and warm. Hand-feeding baby birds at the the age this person saw them they DO NOT Require Water, because they get all of the needs for the hand-feeding formula. If you do not know the facts about something you should ask, and should never post something untrue. " Cady McVay reviewed 9 months ago Do not give this store your money!!! The birds are kept in horrifying conditions. two+ large birds in a cage barely big enough for a hamster. They are very depressed and scared - ALL of them have plucked their feathers due to anxiety and are nearly bald. They are very skinny and terrified. Large birds are very social and need lots of toys and attention to prevent depression/plucking. There were no toys and NO WATER!!! "

Literally the most rude staff of any place Ive ever encountered. The woman working there doesnt want to talk to anyone and the same goes for the big guy. They wouldnt answer any questions I had and mumbled under their breath when people would walk away. When I finally got an answer from the woman she was sarcastic and would mumble one word answers and practically yelled at me for repeating the question. The guy isnt as bad as her, but will walk past you and walk around the store pretending like hes doing something so nobody bothers him. There is also an old guy that works there whos alright and is actually a decent human being. Not to mention almost all of the animals are kept in terrible and poor conditions. I feel like this place needs to be shut down. Avoid this place at all costs and go literally anywhere else.
