Mast has a comprehensive selection of outdoor/mountain-man clothing, shoes, accessories, and gear for men, women, and kids. There is also a large housewares section and candy section. Four of of five stars because 1) It would seem more authentic if the products were mostly local, or American made (many of the products are made in China, and many of the brands can be found at REI, Dicks, Cabelas, etc.; and 2) I experienced poor customer service when I returned to the store on the same day as my purchase to exchange a shirt that was stained (didnt see it when I bought it) and to retrieve two items that the cashier forgot to put in my bag. Note I came in with my receipt, six hours after purchase, and I had spoken with three people from the store via phone prior to coming back. Not sure if the guy at the register was an owner or not, but he treated me as though I was trying to pull a fast one on him, and begrudgingly exchanged the shirt/retrieved my paid-for items for me. Mast, adjust the attitude please!

Mast General is a must-visit for fans of country decor, nostalgia, and outdoor living. Situated in downtown Greenville within short walking distance from the Richardson Street garage (which offers free parking on weekends), Mast General has a penny candy section, lots of country kitchen items, an array of clothing, jewelry, sunglasses, hammocks, some pet items, and plenty of things for outdoor enthusiasts including Yeti coolers. Theres something for everyone here and even if youre only interested in walking downtown, its fun to take a tour through Mast General to see whats new or just pick up a Moon Pie. Great general store in the truest sense of the word.

Its a great little place to find seasonal gear, old-timey candy and sodas, and miscellaneous things you dont need but probably want. They are not cheap but I have not seen cheaply made items in their store either...IE: In here, you get what you pay for. Depending upon what you are looking for the price of going into the store would vary from $$ to $$$. As I usually go there for small items (candy, soda, nick-knacks) I ranked the place $$. If you are looking for apparel (mostly outdoor related) I would rank it $$$.

This place is the cutest. They have Greenville paraphernalia and gifts, toys, jewelry, camp gear and outdoor wear. Also, a nice little barrel candy section in the back. Its a pretty adorable shop to visit if you are a tourist or showing your visiting friends around. I would probably give it 5 stars if I was rich and I could afford to spend more money here. Just a little on the expensive side for my taste. I can find a lot of the same camp gear online for cheaper.

Who doesnt love Mast? I personally love the back-end of the store, where the candy, kitchen stuff, and odds and ends reside. The clothing and camping supplies seem a bit pricey. Nice hiking shoe selection on the second floor. TIP: About once or twice a year, theyll have a 25% off friends and family sale. Usually good for up to four items. Be on the lookout on their webpage or coupon in the Greenville News.

This place is a must-go downtown staple. While some of their prices might give you sticker shock, their selection of home-grown local items is matched by no other. They have a pretty decent collection of old-fashioned candies, as well as toys, games and collectibles. They also have lots of outdoor gear and clothing, including footwear as well. Its definitely worth checking out.

Mast General Store could be the love child of REI and Cracker Barrel (minus the restaurant). This is a large store with everything from sleeping bags and seam tape to outdoor clothing to novelty mason jars and potholders printed with down-home aphorisms. And theyre not ripping you off on price either. Give these guys a try if you need camping supplies or just some souvenirs.

Its like an old time Hooks Drug Store. Large selection of classic candies and new favorites. All the classic toys from tin jack-in-the-box to whoopee cushions. They carry Lodge cast iron (I purchased a lid) and many tried and true kitchen accessories. There is a good assortment of outdoor gear and the staff is friendly and helpful. All around fun shop.

This shop has one of the most eclectic mixes of products Ive ever seen... but thats not a bad thing. Most of what Ive seen and purchased is high quality (though, a little expensive). This place gets 5 stars for the friendly staff, service and atmosphere. For a store, this is a very pleasant place to visit and purchase from. I love the rustic feel.

Great store in the heart of downtown Greenville that still has that old style I really like. They have kept the original hardwood floors that creak with each step so this is a place I love to visit when I have plenty of time. Its a big store for downtown so you might be here a while, especially in the candy section on the lower level.

This place has a great, old time feel to it but with the latest outdoor gear. The creaky wooden floors and earthy smell make it a refreshing shopping experience instead of the fluorescent lights and faux decor of REI. The prices are comparable or better too! I get my trail food here, and I get a days worth for about $20!

Great place for tourists and locals. Awesome selection of clothes, footwear, kitchen items and just about everything else. Prices are very high, but merchandise is great quality. Dont miss walking through the candy area. Its mostly sold in bulk and they have many many items youll remember from your childhood.

180 degrees different than the typical big box store, and 180x better! Quality items, good prices, and a selection that is so wonderfully curated that I couldnt do better myself. Makes browsing through everything a true delight, and puts it on the "dont miss" list for our every trip to Greenville.

This is an amazing general store it is really big compared to most general stores that I have been too. This store had a variety of products, all displayed in clear sight, so if you were looking for something you could find it.this store was a little pricey, but the products were well made.

An old-fashion general store with clothing (mostly of the outdoor variety) and shoes, some kitchen tools, toys for the kids, and a candy section where you throw everything you want into a basket and pay by weight. A neat place to stop if youre in the Downtown Greenville area.

I love General Stores and Masts is no different. The old-time candy selection is what draws us in and the entire family enjoys walking around checking out the cool items. You can find Masts throughout NC and SC, I definitely suggest a walk-through if you have 10-15 minutes.

A must stop when visiting Greenville. A throwback to the general store where you can stop and get all crazy things it provides character and an experience that kids and adults will enjoy. The wide selection of candies that you dont see in most stores is a treat.

Beautiful store downtown with a wide variety. Kids will love the candy barrels that offer old time candies and treats. Clothing selection features brand names and plenty of styles to chose from. Be patient as the store can get crowded at peak hours.
