Angelo Smith was my car salesman and he did a great job but it was after the sale that things went downhill fast. I bought a Jeep Patriot on June 17th, 2015 around 8pm. Two days later the temperature engine temperature light came on. The warranty facility had their max vehicles for the day so I made an apt. for the following Tuesday on the 23rd. On the morning of the 23rd, I got in the truck and all lights were flashing in which the book stated malfunctions. It would not go over 10 mph. I called the Columbia office and asked to be put in dependable transportation being that it wasn’t 7 days and 3 different things appeared to be wrong (temperature engine light, screeching noise and the other 3 flashing lights). I was told that I was now into my 6th day and you can only return within 5 days. (later found out it was really 5 because they do not count the day of the purchase nor Sunday because it is not a business day.) Towed the Jeep to Champion Automotive in which they stated it was a relearn throttlebody. Picked the jeep up on evening on the 24th after it was supposedly fix and asked what about the loud screeching noise when I stop. They forgot to look it. On the 29th after work, low and behold all lights were on again, the same identical lights. Towed the Jeep to Palmetto Auto Service, they determine that the issue was the throttlebody AGAIN but was covered under the dealership warranty. They also discovered that I needed front brakes and rotors. Keep in mind DRIVE TIME states the vehicles go through vigorous inspections! Now I am at my 3rd two and haven’t had the car two weeks. It is my responsibility to tow the Jeep to the dealership so that it could be fixed AGAIN. The stress and embarrassment this caused became to overbearing so I made the best decision for me. I towed the car to Drive Time dealership and gave them the key back. Spoke with the manager Reggie, he was very understanding and apologetic. He made calls to corporate asking any type of possibilities to turn this into a positive situation. He asked could they put me into another car. The answer was no. He asked could they give me my money back in good faith being that all the warranty notes told the story, the answer was no. I was there 2 hours if not more while we sat in an office on hold for 30 minutes and was told NO for everything. No compassion! I even got on the line and stated so it doesn’t matter that you inconvenienced, stressed, embarrassed me and cheated me out of my money. The lady was like a broken record- she stated sorry it is over the 5 days so we cannot refund your $1000 down payment. She said but yes "I see that you have called a few times". (In reality over 10 times). Although I walked out hurt and terribly emotional, I felt so relieved returning the lemon but very sad that this company would take someones hard earned money with no regards to doing the right thing. I totally understand policies and procedures but when a customer goes through pure hell you make it right! I hope that my story will make others aware!

Absolutely never go to Drivetime even if you are desperated. They treated me as if my credit was terrible because they said they only checked one credit reporting agency and found nothing. In my opinion their online acceptance is false advertisement. They approved me online for a car up to $21000 but when I got to the dealer to get the vehicle I wanted in that range they wanted me to put down $4300. So they tried to steer me to a vehicle much older that they admitted was reduced due to being on inventory for a long time. Funny thing is after they asked for $1000 dollars down on this vehicle the amount they offered to finance was the same amout that would have been on the newer vehicle and for the same amount of time. 6 years at 21%. In fact no matter what vehicle I looked at minus the down payment on any vehicle it amounted to the exact same amount to finance for the same length of time for the same 21%. no matter what car I picked they wanted a down payment that brought the amount the financed to $19000, not the $21000 I was promised online. Save yourself from being taken on a ride. Do like I did and go to Capitol Chevrolet and get the deal you deserve. I got not the vehicle I first asked for that drivetime had in a 2007 year model, but a 2010 one owner model of the same vehicle for the same price, better warranty, less down payment and less than half of the finance rate they asked for.

I purchased a vehicle on July 18, 2016 and then repurchased it on July 22, 2016 to get a much better interest rate. The experience on July 22, 2016 was horrible and Drive Time facility does not accommodate for handicap or people with disabilities. They are very unsympathetic to people with disabilities. On July 22, 2016, I should have received a new temporary tag. Well of course; they did not change my temporary tag to the correct date, so i had to come back weeks later to get another temporary tag with the correct date. That is not the half of it though. My temporary tag expires on September 5, 2016 and the general manager Reginald, as well as the other staff keep telling me my tag is processing at DMV and a third party company and I will have it by September 5, 2016. It is August 31, 2016, and they still dont have my tag. All they keep saying is it is processing. If my tag is not here by Monday, September 5, 2016 I cant drive the vehicle because I wont have a tag and the temporary tag expires. The staff are so unprofessional and no one there can give you a clear concise answer. All I know is I better have my tag before or by Monday, September 5, 2016 or I will take all the necessary steps to expose your unprofessional business practices - to include reporting this incident to On Your Side. Get it together Reginald - General Manager.

If your looking for a great car leasing or buying experience, then go to the Drivetime dealership on Greystone Blvd in Columbia SC. My husband and I financed our latest vehicle here back in August of 2015. Reginald Peterson is the General Manager there, and he will give the kind of customer service that seems to be quickly vanishing these days. First he acknowledges that you are important to the company, and its future. He was compassionate and caring after we had experienced a lot of negative outcome from the original vehicle we had leased in March of 2014. He went above and beyond the day we came in to get another vehicle after the first one was irreparable because of the engine. I am giving a shout out as well to Haywood White who assisted Mr. Peterson that day. He was very friendly, and knowledgeable. This was by far the best experience I have had with car buying and Drivetime. Please know that Reginald Peterson will take care of you. P.S. I appreciate Scotts help at the front desk, and all of the staff there that helped us with our last purchase too! Thanks again! Jennifer Parsons
