TERRIBLE MANAGER: My partner and I were sent money via western union for payment. We have never received a western union before but here we are trying to get a $2500 check from western union. We go to stop and shop, they print a check, and then we head to the bank to deposit said check. The teller at the bank, whom I assume sees many WU checks said "this was not filled out properly by the issuer, you have to go back to them to have them finish filling it out." The teller pointed out the name and address section. So we go back to stop and shop a few days later and we speak with the counter person. We remembered that the original person who filled out the check said it was only her second time doing it, that made sense that there would be errors. The clerk at SnS this time said "it looks fine to me." So now what. Well we talk with her for a while trying to figure out the problem. She called over her shift supervisor and they too said it looked fine. We suggested that the bank told us it wasnt and that these two fields needed to be filled out. They said "you fill that out." We thought, but we are not the issuers of the check, SnS is. So, a bit of confusion ensued, totally fine, we were mostly concerned that if we were going fill it out with our info then the bank wouldnt take the check then we would be out $2500. The shift manager called over the store manager (I assume) and he came out from hiding. He said the same thing to us and we said the same thing back. We offered our concern of losing the money if the check is filled out wrong and asked if they would be willing to write another check if the bank wouldnt take it, they said no. Now we are VERY nervous. This manager was much more arrogant and rude from the beginning. He surely felt that he was the BIG MAN. He told us that it was ILLEGAL for him to write put the stop and shop address on the check as the payee/issuer. We thought that this was absurd but then asked him if he would return the check if there was a problem and he said no but that "we shouldnt have a problem." My partner asked him if he would be willing to sign a statement to that affect and he looked at her with such disdain, scoffed at her, and said "PHEW NO." That is when I knew I was dealing with a person who feels he is mightier than others and can not handle pressure or customer service. This is not a person to have as the manager of ANY store.

I dont know about buying anything thats not pre-packaged. Interestingly enough, the purpose of going to the grocery store is to buy fresh produce, meats and deli products. Im going to take a video the next time I go into that DISGUSTING bathroom. No paper towel holder. Just a soggy roll of paper towels sitting on the wet sink. The soap dispenser is just lying around on the sink, and if thats the bathroom the employees use, why would ANYBODY buy meat, deli products, or produce theye touched? Hard to believe the health inspector hasnt cited Stop and Shop. Looks like the average truck stop bathroom.

Possibly the best Stop n Shop in Prov and southern RI. With S n S produce dept no Supermkt deserves a 5th star, particularly not when so much locally produced fruit and veg are available in farmers markets and Belmont, East Side and, to some extent, Whole Foods supermarkets. I needed some 5 Spice powder for the handful of "sorta Chinese" recipes my wife and I use. This S&S stocked it, unlike 2 sister S&Ss close to our East Grin address.

One lady there wouldnt stop talking, instead of cashing people out she too busy asking you question about yourself. Like really? The only thing she didnt ask the customers was when last you had sex? Someone else had to open a register so she can help us. It takes that lady 21 minutes to serve 2 customers with less then 5 items. Now mind you. I dont care how long shes been working there she needs a good talking too.

Very bad and trashy store!!! Stay away from this supermarket. Everything is dirty, out of date and just an overall mess. The lines to check out are so bad. I dont understand how they can let the lines get as long as they do. This store need more management, a nice good deep clean, and friendly and helpful staff. Until this is fixed just stay away

Most of the time they are out of stock of sale items, and even non-sale staple items (no bread? really?!). The checkout lines are always long no matter how few people are in the store. Deli staff is rude and are inaccurate with their measurements. The only redeeming qualities are the convenient location and fantastic 90s music playlist.

This Stop & Shop has the best selection of ethnic foods in the North RI area. Jewish, Latin, Italian, Asian? Its got it, while the nearest Stop & Shops dont. Thats because its near all the Colleges. I go there when I want fresh corn tortillas or Thai peanut or curry sauces. In Smithfield, I can only get flour tortillas & soy sauce.

This is the most horrible place to be. If you look at the expiration date, you can easily find things that already expired months ago! Also they train their staff poorly so they do not know how to handle the situation correctly and how to treat customers. I would not go there if I want myself to be healthy.

Its ok for local shopping. You find what you expect/need. A lot of the front staff are young people who are more focused on their phone. People at the deli, meat, and bakery counters are more professional. I like the convenience of having a Redbox and a Citizens bank in-store.

I love this market. Always good to me.When I need help you can always find someone and no matter who it is they always go all out for you. Now that I cant walk good my legs have gotten blood clots which makes it hard for me to get around GOD BLESS ALL THE HELP AT STOP N SHOP

I have purchased multiple items from this store where there is some sort of issue either the veggies go bad within 3 days or there are multiple items in the pack that are bad... example 2 eggs busted in a carton. Multiple oranges bad in a bag. Go elsewhere for perishables.

I spent all morning going from store to store looking for someone with fresh tarragon, and they had it! Or so I thought. When I opened up the package, chopped up the leaves and tasted it, it turned out to be some random weed. It tasted like grass.

Fresh meat, meat department go out the way to help. Im an early shopper b4 work, the overnight staff they are still there they are so friendly for people to work all night long still have a smile when they open up the door.

Its a bit pricey at times but have great sales.. Some of the cashiers have attitudes and some are very nice. The people that work the parking lot & isles go above & beyond their job description to be helpful.
