Ive always had way better luck going to Home Depot than Lowes. Ive actually wandered around Lowes for 30 minutes trying to find the employee that is supposed to man the hardware desk, or the cutting blade, or whatever. It seems like the help is always MIA at Lowes, but Home Depot has generally always had someone right where you need them. Theyve typically been much nicer to me too. I am constantly doing home remodeling projects and theyve come to recognize me (yeah, thats sad). My #1 issue with Home Depot AND Lowes is a problem that may be more of a cultural/social problem than a company problem, but Im going to mention it anyway... Im a 29 year old woman, and I do wiring, drywall, painting, plumbing, tiling and woodworking. Id consider myself fairly feminine. Im not a strong personality, Im not muscular or large. Im just a girl. When I go to these stores, 9 times out of 10, if I purchase anything from the building supplies or electrical departments, I can count on being patronized so badly by the male staff that its almost unbearable. Ive been laughed at, questioned, or even had male staff assume that Im purchasing the supplies for a husband, boyfriend or fiancee. Im not a feminist, but it is frustrating that I cant go to a store and just buy what I need without getting the same line of questioning every time.... "Are you sure you can do this?", "Are you sure you can carry that?" "Wheres your man?" "Dont hurt yourself." "Youre too cute to be buying 2x4s." I eventually began to just flat out lie when I go to these stores. If I enter the manly-man departments. I just tell them I do need help, I pretend I dont know what Im looking for, and I tell them Im picking up supplies for my boyfriend. It makes the trip so much faster, and I dont have to spend any wasted breath explaining myself. Its sad really. I think Home Depot does a slightly better job at marketing themselves to women, but I still dont think the stores (at least the ones in York County), have gotten beyond the age-old issues with gender roles. It would be nice to see that change someday, but I suppose a home depot review isnt going to make my home remodeling purchases suddenly become a more comfortable experience.

Absolutely disgusted. I called the store on Sat February 18 and ordered a washer and dryer set to be delivered. First available delivery date was Thursday February 23. After a 50 min phone call the employee in the store was unable to place the order, saying that "You just need to come into the store to buy it." Fine. I go into the store on Sunday the 19th. I order the washer and dryer for delivery and installation for February 23. I was promised to receive a call on Wednesday evening that would give me my 4 hour window of delivery for Thursday. Monday comes and the store manager calls to tell me my order can not be delivered until Tuesday February 28. That their employee didnt enter the information correctly and so the order didnt get processed. Unacceptable. I decide that Ive already waited a week, whats a few more days? Again I am promised that Ill receive a call on Monday to find out what my 4 hour window will be for delivery on Tuesday. By 5pm on Monday I do not receive a call. So I call the store, no one can locate my order. they promise me its ok, they will call. When literally no one in the appliances department will help me, I call corporate, who tells me after waiting 2 weeks to do laundry that my order has been canceled by the store manager. Even better, in order to be refunded I have to go into the store. I will never go back and will be letting anyone I know this horror story. Absolutely disgusted.

It cracks me up to see people rant about things such as "hiring ex-convicts." First off, cast a stone if you are without sin or have never had a second chance. Secondly, it is a chain store. I know there are knowledgeable people there, but I also know there are people there just trying to earn a buck with limited construction knowledge. If you want quality, professional expertise, you need to look for a more specific store or hire somebody to do it. Overall, it is a good store and I shop there often. Ps. Make sure you spell check before you rant; it just makes your argument even more ridiculous.

Take your own wood cart into the store with you from the parking lot, because you will not find them inside the store, like every other HD I have been to. The aisles are jammed with pre-pulled contractor orders, and are difficult to navigate. Add in the ridiculous number of people trying to sell you services every time you go in, and I think I am just going to go back to using my local lumber yard.

Went to buy a gallon of paint for my bedroom. I had never done this before and the guy acted like I was being a bother just for asking questions and ended up buying the cheapest kind later to find out that it doesnt cover in one coat and he said "welp I already mixed it sorry" so Im gonna have to pay for another entire can and paint multiple coats because this selfish guy didnt want to help me.

Tried to order ceiling tile. After two trips and two hours they finally were able to order it for me. A week went by I called to see when it was coming in and they told me it was a discontinued item. They took my money and never bothered to call me and tell me that the product was never coming in. Is this a real business or someones garage?

Just remembered why I dont go to this location. Poor selection of hardware! More people attacking you to pitch siding and AC sales than running check outs. Only self check out open and it did not work well. Took 10 minutes to pay for $3 of bolts.

I love Home Depot. Not as good of a selection on some items as Lowes but the customer service you receive in Home Depot far outweighs. Always someone to help, every employee seems to know where everything is in the store.

I was shopping for a new outside door. The gentleman that I spoke with was very helpful and pointed me to a good door at a great price. This was at the Home Depot in East York.

I am always satisfied with the service and products I buy. Most everyone is super friendly and recognizes me from going there so often. I buy all my flooring and paint there.
