My 2012 MacBook randomly stopped working this past weekend. Being a senior at Temple University, this is a travesty to me. When I would restart it, a folder would appear with a flashing question mark. After doing some research myself, I learned the issue was the hardware bracket being loose, all signs led to this and (extended warranty replacement was free) so I booked an appointment at Springboard Media (because they are an authorized dealer) as well as the Apple Store. When I walked into Springboard I explained what I thought the issue was and was told by the man who greeted me that he wasnt a technician so he couldnt give me anymore info. Right off the bat they wanted money. $118 to even look at the computer. Another $100 to speed up the process from one week to three days. The only appealing part of the offer was the freenloaner computer. The technician was named Song. I told him what I had learned from my research but he didnt want to hear me out. He ran a diagostic in front of me and said he needed to take it in the back. He proceeded to come out from the back with the bottom of the computer removed and told me it was a water damage issue. First off, there is no way there could be water damage because I have never gotten the computer wet. Second, he told me that if I went to Apple they would send me right back there so there was no point in wasting my time (a blatent lie). Thirdly, I was told that the Apple Store doesnt do repairs in stores they only ship out and they would charge me for the services. All three of these statements are false. Apple covered the hardware bracket FOR FREE under extended warranty. They are fixing the issue in the Walnut location and I can pick up within 3 days max. I am disappointed and offended that the people at Springboard would try to scam me. I feel scammed. It seems they told me these fallacies because they wanted my money. I feel taken advantage of. They were very pushy on trying to get me to repair, which they told me would cost $900 upfront, and I could not make payments, or they wanted me to trade in, and buy their extended care plan as well. I dont understand why Song refused to hear me out about the bracket issue when it is a known defect. I dont know why they told me that Id be directed back to them for repairs or that Apple would send out my computer and charge me for these repairs. Both Blatant lies. Needless to say, I am not impressed with the service at this place and never will I ever go back to a repair shop over Apple, even if they are an authorized provider.

I took my charger in here to be repaired because it is one of the only 2 stores in Philadelphia that is certified to accept applecare so I assumed they would be reputable. I was told they had to evaluate my charger and it would be ready early Saturday afternoon and they would call me when its all set. 4pm on Saturday rolls around and I still hadnt heard from them so I give them a call and am told the number goes to a different location and they cant check the status of my repair. So I go all the way down to the store and am told it is all ready. Phew, great. I tested it out before I left and am surprised to realize that it has not been fixed in anyway. When I point this out the guy who not 10 minutes earlier had told me it was ready, he asks when I dropped it off, and then proceeds to berate me for thinking it would be ready so quickly and tells me it should be ready around Tuesday and theyll call me when its ready. Well, the following Saturday rolls around and I still hadnt heard from them so I go to check it out in person and they cant find my charger. Thats right folks, THEY LOST THE CHARGER I BROUGHT IN FOR THEM TO REPAIR. When I requested they replace it with a new one they said that wasnt covered under apples care. While neither is loosing it!!!!!! If I ever run into any more problems, I will be taking my computer to Bundy instead since not only can Springboard clearly not fix problems, they dont even seem to think people will want the things back that they are taking in to have repaired..

I am suspending this review for a few days because a manager at springboard agreed to assess my ongoing problems free of charge. I will update when the issue is resolved for better or worse. Rip off. I brought my Mac in and they replaced the hard drive, I paid for a drive and it has a 1 year warranty. Since they installed the new drive, I have had nothing but problems with the machine, which had worked perfectly prior to the hard drive fauliure and springboard service. The machine failed to start just weeks after service so I had to bring it back to springboard. They told me since it was a recent repair, Id have priority service. Well, it took them abt 6 days to return the machine to me. Now, the new hard drive has failed altogether. The drive is under warranty, but since springboard only warrants their "service" for 90 days, they wanted another $109 to diagnose it, even though Apple had diagnosed it as a problem with the hard drive. The worst part is they told me even if I paid for the diagnostic and the drive (which is under warranty) turned out to be in fact dead, they would not refund my diagnostic fee. All this within 5 month of them installing a drive with a one year warranty. Im back at Apple where they diagnose for free. I advise you to NEVER waste time or money at Springboard Media on walnut st in Philadelphia.

I have never felt so manipulated in my entire life. When I went to pick up my computer, I was charged $200 and Springboard had deleted my Microsoft Office 2008 off my computer without my consent (which would cost an additional $200 to replace). As a white UPenn student, they probably thought I would pay for the repairs and buy new Microsoft software. However, I refused to pay for the "work" they had done on my computer because they had EXPLOITED me. The manager then began HOARDING MT COMPUTER. He wouldnt let me physically touch it, it was the MOST BIZARRE experience. He told me the ONLY WAYS I WOULD GET MY COMPUTER BACK WERE TO 1) have them DELETE all my hard drive and software or 2) PAY IN CASH. DO NOT GO TO SPRINGBOARD. There are many other options in University and Center City that wont take advantage of you.

Springboard Media are in a class by themselves when it comes to customer service and support. I have purchased all of my Apple products from them for years and I see no reason to ever change that practice. My computer is used every day. My projects cant wait for the 3-5 days it would take the Apple store to get around to repairing my equipment. Springboard sends me a temporary loaner computer to ensure Im down for the least amount of time. When my old computer gets slow and creaky, they will sell me a new one and put my old one on consignment to help offset the cost. They are a locally owned store that out performs the giant corporate competition on customer service and value.
