I had a horrible experience at this grooming salon. My dog was going to this salon for past 3 years and we requested the same groomer Misty to cut his hair, but they told me that she doesnt work here anymore. Few months later, I come in and I see Misty; she told me that she is overbooked and thats why they lie that she doesnt work her, so customers would take their dogs to a different groomer. So because of these lies my dog couldnt go to the same groomer and every time they kept giving us different groomer. At some point, my dog was groomed by viktoria after that he never wanted to go back for his hair cut again. He would shake and protest coming here, I believe my dog was mistreated or abused by one of the groomers. One day I looked through the window wall and saw how the groomers were laughing at my dog and aggregating him. Now they are telling me that on that day my dog tried to bite them. I never heard this before! Only after I complained that the groomers were laughing at my dog, they made up the story that my dog was aggressive. I just talked to the manager Rich who hang up on me when I had to say my opinion then he screamed NoNoNoNo! I think the manager and the groomers need to have better social skills. I am twice their age and I didnt let them talk to me this way. They also disrespected my mom on numerous occasions. When we complained about this mistreatment they denied our dog for a haircut in retaliation. I think the true manager of this place needs to reevaluate his staff -- are they nice to dogs and do they have good social skills. Are they allowed to scream at their customers and hand up the phone. This never happened to me before and I am much older than those kids. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I cant believe I was disrespected by dog groomers and no one will do anything to change this! I guess this is the stabdard for this place! Can a real manger contact me and think how to resolve this problem. How can this staff serve customers better next time and with more respect! Irene L.

After having stopped by several times to surreptitiously observe the grooming department at the Pet Smart in Newtown, I took my Wire Fox Terrier for a bath and grooming (August 2014). I had earlier observed a very well organized and clearly happy place for a dog to be groomed. The one time I watched, there were a number of dogs being bathed (can only see a bit of what happens back there) and groomed. The dogs (of all sizes) were well supervised and gently handled. In my dogs one experience, I can report that the groomer who checked my dog in was attentative to the instructions and cautions I gave (my dog, a rescue, has had earlier injuries which had required significant medical treatment) and told me that theyd call when she was done. There were a number of dogs being groomed and there were even more when I returned. Yet there was a calmness and gentle but enthusiastic energy that permeated the entire place. None of the dogs looked stressed. I was pleased with the grooming that my Wire Fox got (I often do grooming of my own dogs) and she bounced out all wiggles and happy. She was not exhausted when I got her home as had been the case other places. I would definitely recommend this location for grooming (the quality of the work, the environment, and the price) but, as things change everywhere, I do suggest to a reader of this review to do some surreptitious recon first (no matter where you may want to take Fido) to make sure that what you see happening is the right place for your dog! (PS: When I came to pick up my sometimes looney toon, I did get a bit of a peek into the bathing area which allows for both the usual groomers bathtubs but also a floor bathing set up which might be just right not only for very large dogs but ones that stress over tub bathing.)

This Petsmart is definitely the worst of the worse. Theyve never had nice employees and the maangers who work there shouldnt even be called managers since theyre worse than employees!!! Weve always had our dogs nails clipped at another location but since this location opened (this one is only 7-10 minutes away), Weve used their grooming services maybe 3 times and They always gave a hard time about holding our dog while his nails get cut. Our dog does not like other people to cut his nails (I cant do it) but he helps him be much more calm if hes being held by me or my boyfriend. They are now claiming that we cant hold him, that he has to have his rabies certificate EVERY time we have his nails cut (even though he has his rabies tag on his collar along with his license!!). that we cant be behind the counter to hold him and that he has to be attached to the table. Im sorry but thats absolutely horrible when Im paying for a service and I cant calm my dog because theyre idiots!! Theyve been nothing but trouble since they opened and they have lost my business and thats sad for them since I have 2 other animals. PETSMART IN NEWTOWN IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE, STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!

We own a very excitable, very sensitive-skinned Yorkshire Terrier named Bailey. No matter where weve gone, no matter how weve had it done, every single time she comes back from a groomer her skin is dry and itchy and she scratches till shes bleeding (once we even had to get antibiotics for a sore she developed and wouldnt stop scratching at - that was from a PetCo). Why the history? Ever since weve started taking Bailey to the PetSmart in Newtown (specifically to Heather), shes come back clean, calm, nails trimmed, and NOT ITCHY! This was huge for us; it was a constant battle every time we got her groomed not to scratch herself to bleeding (and hello, we have jobs, I cant watch her 24/7). Shes 8 so, this has been years and years that this has been a struggle. Im just mad we didnt find this place sooner. I dont know what Heather does, but she has our business for life.

theyre Grooming Salon very good, groomers very compassionate and friendly. Knowledgeable in my dogs always look great when they come out. The one con I would say is they offered a pet product to be used on the dogs fur to help keep it silky and not mat, A chi product. the cost would be $22 added to the cut which is ridiculous when the product itself is $12 in the store so I bought the product and brought it back in for them to apply to both of my dogs after their baths. It is really is a ridiculous price when all it takes is a couple sprays. Otherwise I am happy with this PetSmart

I love the work that Kimmy does on my Westie who always comes in looking like a vagabond!!! Kim does a great job and Id highly recommend her to anyone. She used to groom our older dog who was a chow /collie mix and always groomed him to look like a champ!!!
