all ways the best fly shop in greater Philadelphia area , knowledgeable staff, accommodating , never rushed family like atmosphere , my usual quick stop to grab supplies turns into a visit with super friendly staff more like catching up with old friends for fish story time , than the feeling of getting highway robbed by snooty strangers ive encountered over on the mainline... and after shopping at the original baltimore pike store in media , allowing me to participate in a fly tying ten week program when in fourth grade , i even dropped a 200 gift card on the street , was informed an imposter tried to cash it out there , when they asked the guy a couple security questions he bolted , a few weeks later i cme in with a sorrry tale how my money clip with all my gift credit cards and ideas id dropped , they managed to at least restore my 200 credit no questions asked , the new glen mills store is stunning , has everything you need hard to find fly tying material up to the day accurate local stream reports , conditions , hatches , flows , THE sporting gentleman is now always has been the real deal where Barry and KRIS? spelling ? are genuine authentic kind folks , looking forward to try the restaurant located above the fly shop that i have only heard rave 5 star reviews , PS. best fly selection ,assortment , quality period.... AND did i mention they are dog freindly

Visited the new shop last week. What a spectacular setting. Learned that it is possible to fish right outside the shop. Enjoyed the free flowing humor and easy conversation. The mix of personalities, Barry an icon of the fly fishing world, Steves enthusiasm, and Christines quiet expertise made the experience the highlight of my day. With Steves advice bought a 5wt. floating Airflo Super Dri line green in color. Practiced with it over the weekend resulting in a longer and tighter loop. Hope to take advantage of the shops guide service and/or group fishing adventure soon. Have enjoyed their White River, Arkansas trip and Florida albacore trip several times in the past. Great fun and lots of fish.

The crew at The Gent are very friendly and welcoming to anyone, no matter the experience level. Theyre the best source of local knowledge and more than willing to share it with anyone who walks thru the door, which is rare in my experience with other shops and I feel the greatest quality a fly shop can possess. You cant go wrong, check them out.

Attended the Fly Fishing Show in Philly. The booth attendant tried to sell me a used rod as new and had his facts incorrect claiming that the rod was made with a Helios rod blank. I left the booth feeling like Id get better and more truthful service from a cheesy used car lot. Very disappointed in their lack of product knowledge.
