Typically, I do not write reviews of places I have patronized, regardless of the experience being super positive or astonishingly negative. However, I feel compelled to publicly detail the most horrible, uncomfortable customer service I have ever received. I would also like to make it known that I like to support small business. I drove past Home Depot to get Hills, and now regret giving even the smallest amount of business to Hills Hardware. I walked into Hills to have a key copied. I greeted the woman behind the counter and let her know what I needed. From that instant I received an attitude. After she put down the pizza she was eating, she walked to the key machine and began assisting me. As she was doing that, I was looking around admiring the selection of items you wouldnt find in a big box store. I thought to myself about how I would enjoy coming back to Hills whenever I needed something because of the hometown, mom and pop feeling. That soon changed. "$2.37," she stated. I pulled out my wallet (which is a money clip style wallet with slots for credit cards) and removed my Debit Card. She looked at my card and then at me with the most disgusted look and reiterated, "ITS $2.37." I apologized for the "inconvenience" of not having any cash on me at the moment. With that, she threw the keys on the counter, grabbed my card, and said "I just dont get whats wrong with this generation." At this point I had to try very hard to refrain from escalating the situation by beginning an argumentative dialogue with her. As she swiped the card she asked if I wanted it to go through as Debit or Credit. I stated, "Debit is fine." Her response, "I get charged either way, so dont act like youre doing me a favor." After I entered my PIN, I grabbed my items and exited the store. This may not sound like much, but the manner in which she treated a customer, regardless of what I was buying, was despicable. I understand that Credit Card processing fees may be "hard" on small businesses, but they are part of the Use Agreement. If your business plan cannot sustain itself against such a fee, perhaps you shouldt treat a likely repeat customer with such disdain. The cost of lost future business will far exceed the pennies this woman wanted to belittle me over. In summation, unless you like to be disparaged by your local small business owner, I would advise against spending any money at Hills Hardware, Cash, Credit, Check , or otherwise.

I went to get my screen fixed a week ago and right once you walk in you understand how much of a grouch the old man in there is. With that being said, I was just happy my phone was getting fixed for my upcoming vacation. The first day Im home, I go to use my phone and it spider webs and the screen goes blank. I immediately drove over thinking they would replace it because all I did was press on the screen and it cracked. The grouchy know-it-all wastes my time and the customers behind me by rubbing over the cracks a hundred times and breathing deep saying, "I mean I just dont know, I work with these all the time and this never happens." Going on to tell me to hold on twice, walks in the back both times and eventually comes out to tell me he cant do anything. This guy is a hustler in the worst way and is an overall ugly human being. You can find way better service for the same price in a lot of other places, just do some research and save yourself the hassle that comes down the road with this guy. Also, look at this guy Russell Snow before you trust his word. Seems to me "Hill" likes writing reviews about his own place. Regardless, the guy is talking about quality bolts, keep that in mind. The old man is a prime example of a con artist and it is such a disappointment to see someone like that running a business in the county I was raised in and have grown to love.

Been to Hills hardware several times. Great little local business that harbors a lot of those little items you cant find in the chain stores. Once in awhile it takes some time to get help, however I use that time to explore their inventory. Owning a local small business down the street from Hills hardware I find them convenient and helpful and I try to always frequent small businesses when I can since Im a fellow owner of one. So if you want to take a small step back in time visit Hills hardware.

Alex McCloskey- are you talking about the place next to Hills Hardware that fixes phone screens? They are not part of Hills! The people in Hills are kind and smart and know the business inside out! If you need a hardware store please support small local business. I know theres some things you may need to go to Home Depot for but you cant go wrong with Hills!
