I couldnt be happier with both the product and service. Heres my story: I wandered into a Cole Haan and found a jacket I really liked, but it was at end-of-line and they didnt have my size. After calling around I found a store that had one and they shipped it to me. When it arrived, the zipper worked three times, then I couldnt get it to zip again. After looking into things, I found out the coat was a collaboration between Cole Haan and Mountain Hardwear, and learned about this local store. On a whim, I called them to see if they stocked it, and they did, had my size, and were willing to replace a coat bought at a different store. I couldnt be happier with the service. On top of that, Ive waited awhile to post this review to see if the new zipper has problems, but its worked flawlessly, so apparently the other was a manufacturing glitch or mistreatment or something. The coat I bought (I think its called the Zero Grand Motoring Coat) is literally my favourite coat Ive ever had, simultaneously the lightest and warmest one Ive owned. Ill be sad when it wears out, but this is the first store Ill go to for a replacement.

Professional deep product knowledge plus super customer service. I went into the store to compare Mt. Hardware winter jackets. I explained that Id bought a hooded Mt Hardware jacket on line, but that when I tried it on, I didnt care for the way the hood looked and wanted to see what else was available. Kyler, a sales associate, asked me where and how Id use the garment. He then suggested different one, the Thermostatic Jacket that was a new product -- and cheaper than the one Id bought! He explained the pros and cons of each and made a recommendation. And he enlisted a separate sales associate,Phillip to come over and discuss the 2 garments, without knowing about our discussion. His points were the same. But since Id been told at another store that the one I bought was best for my needs, I held off the purchase. Long story long ... I talked to a contact at Columbia who knows the product line and he confirmed Kylers story. So everyone at the downtown store was for "Cheaper & better suited to my needs." It doesnt get better than that.

I have an Expedition duffle which seems to only last 2 trips for me and every other trip I take I have to get it fixed. The first time I travelled with it the Tarp fabric ripped. I returned it to the US outdoor store in Portland where I bought it and they replaced it. On my 4th trip the plastic/metal clip which links the straps to the bag broke. One end of them is stitched to the bag so you cannot replace the whole strap. The mountain Hardware store in Portland mentioned I could send it back to their repairs dept. they would not accept it and return it for me ; however I am disappointed that I cannot just hand it back to the store itself and would need to pay for shipping. Given the lack of quality and customer support I will not be buying their equipment again.

Warranty dept. did not replace jacket when I sent in my jacket with broken zipper but instead gave store credit that didnt match the cost of getting a new replacement. I called the warranty dept, customer service and talked on the phone to folks at the PDX store. When I went in the store finally let me not pay extra for the replacement. Wishing it hadnt been as stressful. I like feeling like companies stand by their warranties and appreciate their customers. Ive re-rated the store because they finally came through (rating had been one star), But seriously, its standard practice if theres a warranty in place to just replace the item with what you have available--even if youve upgraded your down feather technology.

Went to this store to buy a jacket was treated like scum the employees followed me around way to close I was not comfortable they locked the front doors like I was going to steal from the establishment I would never recommend anyone to go to this store and I buy a lot of mountain hard wear just not from miss judging minimum wage losers to add to that both employees looked homeless

They had the jacket I was wearing on their window display. I walked in and was greeted immediately. They explained the store and told me about current promotions. I told them what I wanted and was told about their products to meet my needs. I got what I needed at a great price!

Fantastic customer service. I needed to contact warranty and Patrick handled everything swimmingly. My jacket was defective and the warranty personnel was easy to communicate with and in a timely manner. The products are great and the store is stocked.
