The staff currently in place, for the most part, are very obviously not concerned with customer service or representing their company in a positive light. If you want to go shopping where some of the staff will follow you around the store and talk amongst each other about keeping a watchful eye on you without any discretion as to who can hear it, come to this Goodwill! My 33 week pregnant girlfriend dressed up in a random, silly, Halloween costume and wanted me to take pictures with my phone. As we did so (uninterruptingly in the back of the store), the MOD came up and sourly told us that the store was closing in 40 minutes and that we needed to hurry up. We stopped to be polite and resumed to the dressing rooms. This is where I was laughed at for asking if I could grab a chair because of my knee pain and after softly laughing she told me there were no chairs for me to sit and wait on. I explained that I had 3 surgeries and asked if I could grab a chair from the furniture "department" to which she looked at me and ignored before walking away. So I grabbed a chair anyways and sat to wait for my girlfriend to try her clothes on. Oh, and the manager on duty (Hispanic, older lady) was so rude that only 2 minutes after my daughters mother went into the dressing room , she decided to leave and we left our full cart of items in the store leaving empty handed. We simply could not deal with her terrible attitude any more and after talking with a security guard as we left he apologized for her behavior and admitted to knowing of her complete lack of customer service skills , as we are not the only ones to have complained. I wont be coming back here for a longgggg time. At least theres 10,000 more of them in Portland to choose from.

"The $6.99 Nightmare" I just had the worst customer service experience at my neighborhood Goodwill on 122nd and Halsey. Never before have I been so frustrated. And really, its just the principle of the thing. The return policy says an item cannot be returned with the tag off. Here in lies the issue. My 16 year old son bought a dress to wear as part of a knight costume. He bought it at 5:15 pm yesterday evening. Of course, he bought an extra small, which did not quite fit his 511" frame. So as he was trying it on, or taking it off, the flimsy tag mustve come off. He went to return it last night, but they were already closed. So directly after work today (I work at an elementary school) I went up and told them the story. The supervisor came over and immediately told me that they could not return it. Even though I HAD THE TAG THAT THEY SCANNED, the receipt, and the dress, and the security guard had seen me walk in with it, she refused to return the dress that had been purchased less than 24 hours before. Now, I understand that there are people in the world who take complete advantage of the system, so I get the automatic response. But I have spent hundreds of dollars in that store, and just last year, we donated well over $7,000.00 to that exact location. So guess what? No more purchases, and hell no more donations. Salvation Army will be getting all of our gently used items from now on.

THE WORST customer service experience I have ever encountered. It is a nightmare even trying to explain. Had 20 minute difficulty retuning an item with the manager because of something the cashier did but he acted like I did something wrong. Got store credit so spent an hour shopping for enough items to spend my store credit on and after coming out of the dressing room the attendant had ripped the tags off my items!! So again Im dealing with the manager who acts like I am doing something wrong again and tells me he will hold my items and call me the next day. No response. I go back to the store 2 days later and the manager says hes waiting to talk to his manager about it and will get back to me and sell me my items. I offered to buy the items then and there at full price but he insisted I wait until he talks to manager and will sell all items at half price. No response. I call the manager one week later and he said that they took care of the issue with the attendant removing the tags but he didnt think I still wanted the items so he no longer has them!! NEVER going back to this store again.

Im seeing a lot of bad reviews here from people who dont seem to understand how Goodwill stores work. Heres the basics, FYI: - Returns are only good for store credit. Its fair. - The prices on things go down the longer they stay there unsold (look for certain-color-tag sales). Sure some prices are high, but its a self-correcting system. If a price seems like a mistake (WAY high), they can and will mark it down, if they choose - so just ask. - They hire the unhireable, its what the whole organization is about - helping people get training and find work. If you cant be patient with them, dont go. Theyre nice, just be nice back. I havent even been to this store yet but it seems like they needed a boost, so 5 stars from me. Im sure theyll live up to it, they always do. Goodwill is awesome, people are salt of the earth, the deals are crazy good, I love it.

The security here is intimidating = harassment! They will literally follow you. I saw him once say something to a Hispanic women she went fleeing out the doors, she was simply looking at clothes! The staff her is horrible too, its like a gang of family working here. SHARLENE is one of the rudest person I have ever meet. This place is a GANG of the same type of people. Will fight you if they see a item looks expensive saying “ its the wrong tag” “ this isn’t the price” They always want to fight you about the prices. Staff is rude, overprices everything, constantly feeling like your in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

One of the better Goodwill stores in Portland, a great variety and decent prices compared to some of the other stores. My only real complaint is when I have returned something that did not work, you only get store credit and I have on occasion found the item back on the shelf with no notification of the flaw, so Buyer Beware. They do have power and assorted outlets in the electronic section so you can test many products before going home, though sometimes you have to be a bit creative in finding additional parts that may be needed, cables, etc.

I got harassed by security who stole my vodka bottle. He was saying I shouldnt leave open bottle in cart where kindergarten kids were running amok with grazing parent(s). Really? I said them kids not gonna think about booze yet at that age, besides it would taste horrible for them youthful tounge. Yes, but... Blah blah. I stopped everything and just walked out outta store. I was not trespassed. I hope you enjoyed my booze! It was inside a brown bag for Mormons sake! High number of staff working there.
