I normally try to give positive feedback, but this store disappointed me for my daughters birthday gift when I signed her up for a basic sewing class. On the class wall behind the cash registers it had a pillow case hanging up and in the brochure appeared to offer instruction on how to make a pillow case. Initially, when I tried to sign her up. I was told to come back when the class coordinator returned from lunch. I didnt have time to wait another half hour, but was told I could call in and sign her up. When I called the same afternoon before said person was to be off shift, someone at customer service took my credit card information and registered my daughter for class. A week later, when we were in looking for supplies, the young lady in customer service could not find my daughters information and it took the on-duty manager to look up my credit card number in the back to find the transaction and was registered for the wrong day. On both dates, no one seemed to know how to sign a person up for a class. When I picked up my daughter the day of class, she was near tears. All they did was follow lines on paper while using the sewing machine. I asked her if anyone had made a pillow case and she said no one had. The instructor impatiently said I should have brought the instruction booklet for my sewing machine. (Mind you my sewing machine is the basic model used by most high schools) I put off calling in and when I called today, to ask if the purpose of class is to make a pillow case, the young lady who answered the phone did not know and told me to call back when their class coordinator was available. I politely asked for the on-duty manager and even he said he did not know. In my opinion, the front line staff up to the managers should be educated as to what is and is not offered in each of their classes; as well as be able to sign students up for classes at any time instead of being asked to "come back later."

Ive had good and bad experiences in this store, but the good out weigh the bad IMO. If you go on a busy day, such as Black Friday or the weekend after, expect it to be busy. Always expect a line to checkout. And their coupons/sales can be confusing, as well as locating the pattern your interested in buying. If theres a really good daily deal (like large rolls of batting on sale), either get there early or order it online. One time, on a trip with my father, we were both looking for different things, and we both ended up asking the same person for help. And to both of us she was grumpy and unhelpful. When we caught up with each other, we both shared with each other our lack of assisance from this one lady, turns out this lady was just the next aisle over and she overheard. I guess she didnt realize she was being a grump, because when we encountered her again and asked something again, she was MUCH more helpful. On another trip, my father and I was looking for a thread/bobbin holder. They only had 1 of the kind and size we wanted, so we got an employee and she discovered that there is supposably one more somewhere else up on the higher shelf (where they store extras). And after looking for a while, we didnt find it. Then (after she left), as we left the aisle we saw one way down on the end. On yet another trip, I was buying a learn to knit kit and a tag above it said something like 25% off, but it didnt ring up as that and I didnt have any coupons. So rather than sending someone to go investigate, she just pulled out a 40% off coupon an applied that to it for me.

Ive spent a lot of money in this particular store locale and Friday evening Ive received some of the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. I ordered a few items online for pick up in store. My family plans on doing crafts with my toddler this Christmas and making Christmas gifts for our extended family. I receive an email approximately 5 hours after I ordered stating my order was canceled but it didnt state why. So I called. A young gentleman picked up and stated, Usually if its canceled its because we dont have it in stock and the website isnt updated. I asked if he could check their store system to see if other locations in the area had them. He instructed me to call all the other locations because it would "take us too long." I followed up and said wouldnt it take me just as long since the website isnt updated so I would have to look up the other locations, call, wait out on hold, etc. He agreed that it would take me a long time but theyre busy and their computer is slow so it would probably take them longer. At that point I realized either he wasnt trained in customer service or he didnt care and I politely ended the conversation. I will not spend my hard earned money there ever again. Jo-Ann Fourth Plain Vancouver location -please do better at training your employees on how to treat customers.

I have been to Jo-Anns in the past and never have been overly please with their customer service, especially today. Today Im writing a review because Im so disgusted with their service that it was unacceptable. All I needed was 10 pages of purple cardstock and 5 pages of white cardstock. I found 7 purple, and 2 white and half of the sheets were damaged. I asked a local employee if they had anymore of the particular sheets and they said they did. However it was in the back in a box somewhere, and they refused to get it for me cause they didnt want to search for the box. So I went up to the customer service desk and waited for 30 min for the person in front of me to finish up. I then requested a call to another store to see if they had the sheets, and it took the lady 30 min to get through to the other store. while she was on the phone she helped customers check out. So I felt I was being disrespected and felt she was being disrespectful to the customers she was checking out. I just put away everything in my basket and left the store. I wont ever be coming back to this jo-Anns ever again...

I have traveled across the country going to Joann Stores because I am a crazy crafting lady!! Im extremely embarrassed that the WORST store I have been to is in my hometown. Even the stores in Detroit, Mi were so much better! Rude employees and management. The store is falling apart, the fixtures are falling apart, things are not put away in the right places. Long waits are not something new with Joanns however, rude employees that talk horrible about other employees and customers right out in the open is something new. I am one to give second chances or the benefit of the doubt, so I have gone in a few times... each time its horrible. I will never return to this store.

I waited and waited while the clerk "taught" the newbie how to roll up material...5 times! Put my number down and the material went up front to talk to a manager. Explained to the manager what happened and she said they are training. I said that is more important than a customer, folding a bolt of material 5 times because she couldnt it right? She again said they are training. I said got it and walked out saying I would never return. Wow just cant believe she couldnt put that aside when she couldnt even show the new person how to do it and say lets help a customer and Ill show you later. Honestly poor management all the way around. I will never go to that store again.
