03/13/2010 I head to Ace for some much needed sink fixture hoses. I get the wrong connection end. I call to see when they close (6:52P) and am told "at 7". I give the guy my problem and tell him Im enroute and will be there before 7. He tells me the door closes at 7. I pull up at 6:56 receipt in hand and hoses ready to exchange for the right ones, which were a little less money and right next to the ones I bought by mistake. I go up to the door, its open so I head right for my isle. Some guy approaches me shaking his head and says "How did you get in here? Were closed cant you tell? I reply "I came right through that door". No, No that doors locked, how did you get in here?" I replied "I dont have a key if thats what youre thinking. The doors are open" He finally decides I hadnt robbed the place, and as I show him the two hoses and tell him I just spoke to someone that assured me the place was open till 7 and if the doors were open roll on in. He replies "No, youll have to come back tomorrow, no exchanges" I said its those two hoses right there, and the ones I need cost less than the ones Im returning why dont you keep the difference it would literally take 10 seconds. "Sorry were closed, come back tomorrow" was his reply as he blew me off with attitude. My reply- "I wont be back tomorrow, or any other day. Ill never set foot in here again." Ive lived, worked and been a consumer here in Canby for 13 years and havent had a complaint. This person was rude, accusing, uncooperative to say the least and frankly the complete opposite of "Your helpful Hardware Man". My business and my money wont be with Canby Ace Hardware again. when I am in the store most of the staff is very nice and helpful. However, about a month ago, I went in to get some paint. the gentleman in the paint dept. seemed less than enthused about helping me. Hard to describe, but, he never asked me if he could help me when he saw me looking around in the paint dept. He acted like he really did not want to take the time to mix the color of paint I wanted. As a matter of fact, I ended up having to ask him for his help. while I was waiting for the paint I looked around the store and everyone else was friendly and asked if I needed anything. Too bad, in the specific dept I went to first I did not have the same customer service. There does seem to be another issue in the last few months I realize that new employees get hired and may not know the answers to all customer questions. however would you think that they should be trained to ask a more experienced employee or if there is not one available. Hopefully they have a way to look up information. Or at least take the customers number and have someone call back with an answer. My phone experiences lately have not been helpful, sometimes it is more convenient to call ahead so you know you are not wasting your time for an unnecessary trip.

The staff is friendly and most have been there a long time and are very knowledgeable about there product. This is a smaller store and there inventory reflects that. This is an Ace Hardware and holds to their name (for me it is seldom to find a bad Ace Hardware). I my opinion this is the best store in town.

The staff are very helpful and polite, always smiling! The store is clean, reasonably priced (I have found several items here cheaper than big box stores, by a large margin at times), and they always have what Im looking for. Awesome business!

Called to ask a simple question and sat on hold for over 15 minutes with no help at all. Finally gave up and called another hardware store where my question was answered right away. Very disappointed with their customer service over the phone.

This is a great store with a very helpful staff. The plumbing story??? If they dont have what I need they order it and usually comes in three days. Great paint department and window screen repair service. Best store in Canby.
