I should start by saying that most of the store is fine. Good prices, good checkout service and good quality. Excellent produce. Thats why it gets three stars. But the $@ing deli! Giving it one star would be a level of generosity worthy of being canonized by the Catholic church. This deli...oh, this deli! Why? WHY?!!! Well, mostly because its insanely, mind-bogglingly slow. No, slow doesnt do it justice. Glacial is more like it. No, no, thats not enough either. Its like it exists in a whole different universe where the laws of space and time are radically different and what seems like an eternity to us is only the blink of an eye to them. Ive never seen anything like it. A university should do a study on it. It would be hilarious if it werent so infuriating. Not even exaggerating one bit here, it takes them about 7-10 minutes per ticket number. That means if theyre on 65 and you pick 70, youre probably waiting at least half an hour, more likely 40 or even 50 minutes. I waited half an hour for it to move two freaking spots one time before I gave up and left. And its not even like they really serve a ticket every 7-10 minutes. Every time you go there theyll call several numbers that have no one there, presumably because they gave up and left. Probably every other time you go you will hear someone complain to the manager about how slow it is, which at this point I can only assume is by design. Nothing could be this crappy on accident. Whats particularly frustrating is there will be eight employees behind the counter but somehow theyll usually only be serving two or three customers at a time, the others apparently just digging holes and filling them. But its not just that. When you do get served it feels like youre watching them in slow motion. I could, no joke, do it faster myself (with zero deli experience other than buying a lot of deli meat) than their whole $%#!ing crew. And its not like I just had a bad experience. I have given them the benefit of the doubt a ludicrous, borderline moronic amount of times. Every time I think "Hey, I really want some capicola and maybe theyve cleaned up their act? Theres barely anyone there. Itll be okay this time." No. Never. Not even once. Even the time there was only one other customer I still ended up waiting 23 minutes (I timed it with my phone). My girlfriend one time waited over an hour on a Saturday. I waited with her 15 minutes, then said I was going to do our other shopping, went and did that shopping, then came back, waited some more, then went and browsed a little more, then came back and waited a lot more. Granted, it was a little busy that day (10 tickets ahead of her), but Ive seen Penn Mac in Pittsburgh at Christmas crowded like a rock concert and get through 70 customers in that amount of time with same amount of employees behind the counter. And its not like Im asking for stellar service. It doesnt have to be Penn Mac good. I would settle for totally mediocre. What I get, however, is something could arguably be defined as a crime against humanity. I just want something that doesnt make me want to scream and jump over the counter to beat them with a hard salami. Now, you might be wondering, why dont you just go somewhere else? Thats a reasonable question. The reason is because this is Dayton, where most people dont eat anything that cant be bought at a gas station. The only other place in town with a deli that serves anything more exotic than ham is Dorothy Lane Market, which is overpriced and, more importantly, about half an hour from my house. At that point I might as well just go to Jungle Jims (which is the best grocery store Ive ever seen in my life btw and probably my favorite thing in the whole godforsaken state of Ohio), which I often do when I just cant take it anymore. The problem is, deli meat doesnt keep long once sliced, so I can only buy so much and I can only drive the 50 minutes to Jungle Jims so often. Ive actually considered buying my own meat slicer, though, and this Krogers deli is what drove me to it.

Was (is?) my "go to" grocery store. This is where I ALWAYS went for ALL my groceries 2014-2016 for many reasons. Their selection variety and quantity WAS excellent until their recent revamp. The quality of the Kroger store brand on many items is better than some expensive brand names at amazingly low prices. They have great deals frequently on most items, esp if you have a Kroger card. In fact, if you shop at Kroger, I strongly recommend you get a Kroger "membership" card. Its free, earns points toward fuel purchases, and they send you great coupons for the stuff you buy most often. I have been disappointed in "my store" in recent months as theyve made changes, but Im not running elsewhere while trying to learn where theyve moved items I used to know exactly where they were. I DO go to Aldi for certain items I know Kroger does not stock or are available for lower prices, and I make sure I tell Kroger about it each time I complete an online survey (which also earns me more fuel points). In general, I know Im getting quality groceries at this particular Kroger Marketplace, plus plenty of other household items if its late or I dont feel like driving across town to Walmart, Home Depot or a "dollar" store.

Needed special assistance in floral as I wanted to buy flowers for my wife. She traveled and had to spend the night at the Chicago airport, as her flight was cancelled. Since she was schedule to go right out of town the next day, I did not want to spend to much on flowers that she would only likely have for one day. She kindly found a beautiful bouquet of flowers on for a very reasonable price (in fact it was on sale) that has a good chance of staying until she gets back later this weekend. She made sure not to forget my Kroger points card so that I could get the gas points discount. When I mentioned to her that I never was able to collect on the gas points for some reason, she mentioned that it might be a good idea to change my phone number. When I told her that I have changed it a number for times (for business reasons), she asked if I had updated my Kroger card with the new number and the light bulb went off immediately. Thank you so much to Jennifer Morris for the exemplary service. Above and beyond my expectations. In your debt (literally), Vincent Urban Otto

They took what was the best Kroger I had ever been in, and the management here has completely ruined this place. As huge as the store is with around 70+ aisles – people who shop at regularly had the store figured out. Then the incompetent management here decided to completely rearrange the entire store. I have almost completely stopped shopping here because its so frustrating that I cant find anything - Im constantly having to ask people for help to find stuff. Im not sure what management was thinking but they werent very smart about their decision. I live 1/2 mile from the store and have stopped going here and have started going to Aldi just simply because I cant find my way around. I used to be able to come in here and knock out all my shopping in about 45 minutes – now it takes me double that time because I cant find anything. The incompetence of the store is costing them customers – and when I talk to employees about it they all say the same thing, everybody complains about not being able to find anything anymore. The brain trust here is And was clueless.
