In August, I visited the Value City Furniture location #110 at 9527 S Boulevard, Charlotte, NC. The employee who communicated with us the most was a man named Oscar. He repeatedly asked if he could help us as we were browsing the store for a coffee table. When I saw a very similar or the same product offered at a competitor for cheaper, I took a look at price match options at Value City and saw that store policy was not just to price *match but to *double the difference. Coffee table I was looking at was $199.99 at Value City and $159.99 at another store, so doubling the difference would put my new price for the item at $119.99 before taxes. After Oscars initial helpful attitude and nearly pestering us throughout our visit, he was all of the sudden very slow to act and help me when I asked him to work on getting me the $119.99 price. He was in the back for what seemed like 30 minutes, in what can only be described as playing games like a child, as we, the customer, waited for a simple confirmation of the new price. Finally, he came out and misled us while he was pretending to type a bunch of information into a computer at the store. He said that his boss approved it and we could now get it for the same price as the other place ($159.99)...**WHICH IS NOT WHAT STORE POLICY SAYS. Again, it should double the difference, so I should be paying $119.99 before tax. As he continued to play this not knowing store policy game twice more, I began to get upset and asked to talk to his supervisor. After another lengthy, childish waiting game, the manager asked me what the issue was and I explained the store policy information. Her response was, Whose store policy would that be? That led me to believe that the store manager herself had ABSOLUTELY ZERO CLUE about the policy AT HER OWN STORE/was trying to hide the policy so Id have to pay more. After more back and forth and waiting, and the manager asking me to provide an e-mail or specific information about the product from competitor (which can not be obtained via e-mail, phone, etc. because industry standard apparently does not allow for specs of products to be sent like that- something Im sure the female manager knew), Oscar came back out and, looking defeated, said the $119.99 price would work. We completed the transaction and that was it...until a few days later when the item was delivered *damaged and had to be re-ordered, delaying the process further. I had to call back every day for 4 straight days to actually get a hold of a supervisor in charge of deliveries to find out when I would pick up the non-damaged item. I finally got the product but will never ever be shopping at this disaster of a chain again. Ill likely go somewhere with adults working that do not play these waiting games and ignore store policy to save the company some money. Its a shame and the employees should be embarrassed.

I discourage EVERYONE and ANYONE from shopping at this store. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Today I had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Today, not only was I insulted by the store manager, Chris, but I received NO resolution to my problem. To the point that I had to contact corporate and STILL didnt get a resolution. Last week, I purchased a dining room set. The salesman pressured the warranty on my family and I, but we turned it down. They then told us it would cost $130 to deliver. My family and I decided it would be cheaper to rent a van from U-Haul. The salesperson told us the base would come assembled, and all we would have to do is place the glass on top. It DID NOT come assembled. But, we let it go and and when we brought it home the table was IMPOSSIBLE to put together. My boyfriend, mother, father and neighbor attempted to put the table together, but it was hopeless. Today, I called the store manager to ask if they could send someone to assemble the table because we just couldnt do it. Or see if there was possibly a way to return the table and maybe get a new one. He absolutely refused. He HONESTLY said "Its not MY problem." He said "What might be difficult for you is not difficult for other people, so pay the $130 and we will come do it for you." I have never been so disrespected by a store manager in my life. When I told him I didnt appreciate his tone he continued to talk over me, and when I told him "Im sorry, but youre being extremely rude." He said "HOW AM I BEING RUDE?! TELL ME!". Mine you I called in a very calm and collected way. I finally decided to get the corporate number and they attempted to help us, but apparently Chris the store manager refused to send someone out. Im guessing this is a franchise, so that is why he got final say. Now we have to pay for ANOTHER U-Haul to return the table and all corporate was able to do was give us a $75 gift card. I am DISGUSTED by this customer service. Go to iKea, go to Rooms-To-Go. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Unless you like to be spoken to like an animal. The cheap cost was not worth the disgusting way me and my family were treated.

My wife & I purchased a reclining sofa set with sofa, loveseat, & rocker recliner from the South Boulevard store in Charlotte. We paid cash and also paid EXTRA for their insurance on the furniture in case of any repairs that may be needed. What a MISTAKE that was! Within a few months part of the seams came apart on the seat of the couch. The furniture also has parts loosening in the recliner mechanisms. The padding in the seating areas have also flattened in several places in less than a year! Wish I could post a pic here! My wife used thread to temporarily hold the seam together that came apart, so the inside material would not come out. We called for repair & it took several WEEKS before they finally showed up at our home. The guy who came just took pictures, did zero repair, & left. We find out later, after our calls to them, that they were denying to repair our couch because they claim we had a 3rd party repair to our couch?! What a pitiful way to do business. He could have spoken with us about the couch, but communicated nothing. Weve tried to explain it was us who wove thread to simply hold the material together & they still refuse to repair our couch! The quality of their furniture is POOR & their extra warranty is totally worthless!! We thought this furniture would last us at least a few years, but we are now already looking to replace it because of the poor condition its already in. Looked great on the showroom floor, though! I will not purchase another piece of furniture at their store, nor do I recommend anyone else to either, unless you want furniture that wont last & to buy from people that could not care less.

I dont make it my business to complain often, but at 40 weeks pregnant with NO furniture, I am more than willing to share my disgust for the level of customer service this company has NOT provided to my family. My husband and I placed a sectional and a futon on layaway July 6 of this year. Made weekly payments, with plans to have it paid off in time for the arrival of our baby. The salesman told us that once it is paid off we could call and wed have our furniture within 3 days. Last week we paid the furniture off; only to find out that they discontinued one of our selections and they basically told us we would not receive it. I made sure to raise all kinds of hell because no one attempted to contact us to let us know about the change. We were able to come to an agreement on a piece that was on the floor and we were assured that we would receive our furniture SEPTEMBER 6, 2012 (see picture). Called last night Sept 5, to confirm delivery time and we were told someone would have to call us back. No one called back. We called again before closing to verify delivery time and we were then told our delivery had been rescheduled for next week. With no attempts to call us. This is unacceptable! And you all have made it clear that you care little about your customers and the money spent in your store. So I want my money back! And how convenient that you have no customer service line. I can only complain to the incompetent fools working in your store. I am disgusted, displeased and would NEVER recommend anyone purchase anything from your store. EVER!!
