Ive been going to Scroungers since it was located over in Fletcher. It is unbelievable how much variety Mark manages to get into the place. When I need hardwood for a furniture project, this is the first place I turn. Of course, Mark is a broker, so he doesnt have a regular and consistent stock. He stocks whatever he can make a good deal on. But he regularly has mahogany, ipe, Spanish cedar, and similar woods. His price is usually 1/3 to 1/2 of what you can find elsewhere. The place is well worth a visit, even if youre not in the market for what he has at the moment. Its just plain fun to wander around and see what you might come up with. If you are in business doing flooring or decking, you owe it to yourself to stay in touch with Mark. He can cut your materials costs substantially.

Its true, they have a lot of stuff, including a ton of exotic south american lumber of unknown provenance. I find it hard to believe that its all harvested with an eye toward sustainability. But a good deal is one of the rarer finds, which is why if you go there a few times youll see a lot of the same stuff still on site. Theyre fond of the high pressure sale: "Ill sell it to you for five hundred today, but only today!" Because they know if you actually go look around elsewhere youll probably find a better price. And certainly better service.

Spent 45 min picking out used books here which I was told the price just depended on what it was. Got 4 book an the owner first asks me what I do for work like hes discriminating somehow before he comes up with a magic number of $50.00! For used books! Then when I tell him he should have the books priced so he doesnt waste peoples time he says he doesnt care or feel responsible for that very rudely. I would imagine he deals with the rest of his merchandise and customers similar and would never go back.

Ive heard about this place and had to see it for myself. If youre building/remodeling your home on a budget, you may find everything you need right here. They have flooring, tile, doors, windows, etc. They also have some close out thrifty finds such as furniture, knick knacks, books, etc. You really have to know what youre looking for when you go, theres a lot to see!

This place is the real deal! Go here when you have plenty of time because there are more treasures in this building than on a pirates ship. Its fantastic!! Do wear warm clothes if you go in the winter, it isnt heated. The owner is super friendly and not a hoarder, he makes deals on everything to get it out of there. Love Love Love this place!!!

We love to come here for 3/4 cabinet grade plywood. Also, the unique wood you cant find other places. We find the prices to be fair.
