We were experiencing a leak underneath our kitchen sink and called Ed Youngs. They were very friendly and very prompt about sending a plumber out. When the plumber arrived at our house he was very kind and very polite. He diagnosed the problem, and gave us an estimate of between $150 and $300 to fix the problem. One of the pipes under the sink had rotted, so the plumber replaced the rotted out piece of pipe with a piece of PVC pipe. That repair cost $272. He told us that due to water dripping behind the piece of drywall that was in front of the leaky pipe, we may want to run a space heater and air out the area under the sink. I did exactly as he suggested. Over the next week or so it started to smell terrible under the kitchen sink. I called them back because I feared that mold might be growing behind a piece of drywall. Not only did they say it wasnt their responsibility to come out, but that they couldnt recommend anybody to come out to look at/remove the drywall. We had to have somebody else come out to remove the drywall, which in fact did have black mold growing like crazy on and behind it. Being 6 1/2 months pregnant and having a child with severe asthma, that could have become a very dangerous situation for us. We started to experience other water issues and had called somebody else to come out and take a look. The pipe that Ed Youngs had not been leaking, but was definitely crooked. I thought that it looked kind of crooked, but figured that Im not a plumber, what do I know? When the next repair man came out he told us what a crummy job had been done, and he ended up having to fix it. Our new repair man did it much more quality work, at a much lower rate. My husband called to speak to Ed Youngs and tell them what had happened, the crooked pipe, the black mold, etc. they apologized and offered to come out and fix the problem, but it had already been fixed. No refund was offered. While they were very polite and very friendly, that did not ensure quality work. Charging near $300 to replace an approximately 18 inch piece of pipe, I wouldve expected impeccable work. We will not be using at Youngs again.

I drive a school bus. And this morning in Tonawanda area one of your drivers pulled up to a 4 way stop as I was loading students. All my lights were flashing. Well, your driver decided to look right my bus then me and I guess he didnt need to wait for 60 seconds while the kids were loading and just went. If this is the attitude of your employees. I wonder how many times this employee cuts corners while working on the plumbing in our homes....."out of plumbers tape...eh.....not walking all the way back to the truck to get some..it should be fine".....Maybe have a a talk with your employees on safety.....

I LOVE Ed Youngs!!! Have shopped there for 30 yrs. Not only do they have absolutely everything, they will teach you how to use, fix, paint anything or, die trying! They even carry odd ball items that they know were used years ago in some of the older homes in town. The service beats any of the big box stores. AND, their gift dept. is such fun to browse and buy! Whomever does the buying for that dept is "gifted". Always can get a last minute present there. Wonderful store, wonderful staff!!

It is a good local hardware store that has a decent variety of products. I feel like items here cost a fraction more than more name brand locations, but Im willing to pay that for the convenience of not needing to drive out to transit. The customer service is okay, however associates on the floor are very helpful. Also, if you need a new house key made up, this store has a massive selection of key designs to choose from.

Why would you go to a big box store when everything can be found here without walking a mile! It seems any where you turn theres someone knowledgeable about product and leading you directly to what you need. Its no secret to the people of Amherst its the best hardware store in the area, that why its lasted over 50 years. And dont get me started about their great gift and home decor items...*swoon*!

Called to ask if they carried a replacement part for my Toro lawnmower since they are listed as an authorized dealer. A kind woman answered the phone then placed me on hold while she paged that department. 6 minutes later I hung up and called back and the same thing happened again. Sorry, but if you cant take care of a customer on the phone like you would in person then Ill shop elsewhere.

Tom Young went out of his way to ship an item to the UK even though they dont do International Shipments as I couldnt get the item anywhere else. I think he ended up printing and signing about 10 different custom documents just for me. The value of the item wasnt worth his effort, but you can tell this family run store cant help but try to please customers.

Do not go to ED YOUNGS. Returns are impossible because they are running the store into the ground with fradulent/counterfeit-like cheaply made garbage hardware. I was interrogated by 3 managers before they denied me returning an item that had been opened in store by attendent. Home Depot and Lowes, returns, simple. Ed Youngs BUYER BEWARE!!!

I was serviced this evening by Grant who provided me with exceptional service with a smile and a great deal of patience. I now know why they are rated so high and have such a fine reputation in the Western New York community.

This is the best hardware store I have ever dealt with. I have gone there for years and I am always amazed what I find there. Excellent paint and plumbing departments. You can get your plumbing parts and a gift all in one stop because they also have a nice gift shop.

Rant and the other guys in Plumbing were AMAZING. I was in a bind and they knew exactly how to help me. Rant spent extra effort to make sure I was leaving there with everything I needed. Never have I done a plumbing project with only ONE trip to the store.

I have an old snow blower and needed a part. Thought Id never find it, but gave Ed Youngs a try. The guy goes in the back and comes out with the correct part. Wow! Ive shopped there many times since and always found what I needed. Great staff, too.

I was flummoxed about which valve I needed for my grill. Eds not only took my return but was FANTASTIC about helping me find the right part and making it easy to get. Amazingly knowledgeable customer service. Will shop again. Big kudos.

I just received a new Weber rotisserie motor form Ed Youngs Hardware The Weber store does not carry them, but Eds had it in stock, and it was delivered promptly. I found it on Amazon, so good job Ed.

Very nice neighborhood hardware store. Extremely good if you have a question. Prices at big box will be slightly lower and selection slightly wider. I choose this place when I have any uncertainty.
