They advertise as having the best foods at the lowest prices, but their prices are the same as anywhere else and their selection is poor. The staff are pleasant but not knowledgable. They claim to carry only quality products they recommend &have used, but its mostly mediocre brands I wouldnt choose. I understand not everyone can afford to feed their pet the best but dont advertise your store as specializing in the best foods if you dont carry any or them. And then they dont allow pets. They were nice to me when I missed the sign and only gave a gentle reminder. But part of picking up a new bag of food or treats usually entails a fun trip out, theres not too many places dogs can go so we look forward to pet stores. I try to shop local, but Red Barn has to do better to compete & I will not be going back. Hate to say this, but Id rather shop at one of the big box stores like Petco or Petsmart. Check out Positively Pets if youre ever in New Windsor, where they do have a large selection of top quality foods and treats- all made in the USA, the staff are knowledgable (especially the owner) and both the 4 leggeds and the 2 leggeds are warmly welcomed. Their prices are fair, and when they have sales you can get some amazing deals. They often have free samples of different foods to try too.

Nice employees, BUT the hours are terrible- only open 6pm on weekdays? Oh, and they dont take credit cards...I had an employee once say to me "we have an ATM, hey at least you wont have finance charges" ...all I could do was laugh, I mean, many cards come directly from bank accounts so there is no such thing as finance charges, However what there are are ATM fees..sorry, Im not paying a $4 atm fee to take out money! I think they are still in the 20th century and not sure how banking works. I only go there in an emergency (I live by them but usually go to petsmart when I do my errands) now as we have so many competitors. I used to do all my shopping there until about a decade ago when many other pets stores popped up- prices are better or close to the same elsewhere. If they took bank cards Id do my business there but I dont carry hundreds around (I have many pets of various kinds). Thats thousands every year they lose in business just from me alone just because they dont take credit/bank cards. Bet Im not the only one.

The people at the cash registers are very nice but some of the employees are a little rude. I came in to buy some feed for chickens and I think I heard the guys name was mark or something and he brought the feed to my truck and wasnt very talkative at all he said hello but when I said have a nice day he turned to me and just said Yup! And didnt say you too at all and and just walked away. Also I told him to be careful putting the bags in because last time I came the bags got ripped some how

Bought 3bags of whole corn feed, and the big guy with glasses helped me out to the car wasnt talking at all didnt even say hello. And then proceeded to just throw the bags in my trunk and walked away. Then I go home to find that one of the bags ripped open from him just tossing the bags in there.... very very rude Id have to say. I will be buying my feed at tractor supply from now on. Anyways its cheaper too!!.

The man that was behind the counter was very nice. The problem is they have a big sign in the door that tells you pets are NOT allowed. This is very strange for a pet store. Since most other pet stores allow our pets, I will not be going back again soon. I hope they will change their policy and then I will come back as a customer.

I have to agree with most reviews here regarding the no pets rule. It is one of the shopping pleasures I enjoy. To bring along my dog to any business, pet supply or otherwise. Big or small. If I can shop at a home depot with my dog without a second look, and I do - why would I do business here? As for germs... germs??? Really.....

If you go, you had better bring a bag full of cash or a blank check book. After a 30 mile 30 minute drive to take advantage of their ad in the Record for taste of the wild dog food, I found out they do not accept credit cards, no mention of this in their ad.

Friendly family owned, with a wide variety of reasonably priced pet food and supplies. No pets sold here, which exemplify exploitation. Nice for customers to throw in a tip for the hard working staff.

Nice people. I got lucky with the dog food I needed for my dog. It was on sale. Its usually very expensive. Only negative remark is that they dont take credit cards. You must pay in cash or check.
