Had my first Waffle Frolic experience today. As someone that takes pride in the food I eat, I was a bit skeptical of a place that claims to use wholesome ingredients because few actually follow through. After questioning the staff for a couple minutes I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Waffle Frolic can back up that claim more than I could imagine. I ordered a few different items since the menu is so broad and I didnt know where to begin. I first had the eggs and bacon which I normally cant eat at a restaurant since I refuse to eat anything but cage-free eggs. Bacon was local and also delicious. I only ordered a single so I still had room and decided to try the Grilled Cheese with Soup. When I found out the asparagus in the sandwich was bought directly from a local farm I was sold. It was soooo cheesy and delicious and probably the best grilled cheese Ive ever had. In response to one of the other reviews, holes in a waffle shows that these are artisan made to order waffles, not frozen Eggos that look alike. That being said my waffle was free of holes but filled with flavor. As far as wait time...I think that the people who believe food-making should be "streamlined" dont value the things they put in their mouth. Finally, Id pay twice as much for the organic, wholesome, made from scratch product that they are delivering. Frolic on people! Get to know good food cause this is it!

Courageous waffles. I cant seem to find any real maple syrup which is surprising though not a complete deal breaker. We had the Florentine which supplied a well crafted and tastey waffle with an over-medium egg, spinach, red peppers, and hollandaise sauce. It was a very tastey, savory breakfast waffle even if they did skimp a bit on the sauce and veggies for a double order. If you get a double its just extra waffle, not fixins and you may end up saving the extra portion to the side for a drenching in syrup. Has a very college town feel with colored chalk menu boards and a minimal, clean, colorful interior. Theres extra seating upstairs where you can still hear them call your name for your order. Keep things interesting... Always give a strange name so you can here them yell it out. Today I went with Excelsior. Dont puss out, this is life and its high time you shake the tree! Get some real maple syrup in here and I got no complaints as long as you dont mind getting courageous with your waffles.

Waffle Frolic has quickly become one of my favorite places on the commons to grab a bite. This place opened a month ago, and Ive already been there 4 times. The waffles are simply that good. In my opinion, you cant go wrong with the Buckwheat & Hemp waffle (its the best!) topped with fresh berry compote. Each time Ive been there, they have had a few different fresh fruit compotes available, plus every other topping you can think of. Also, they usually have specials going on (ie - Chicken & Waffles, Fried Egg & Bacon over Waffles, etc.) which do NOT disappoint. I havent tried the homemade donuts or the sandwiches yet, but they have an interesting selection... The staff is friendly, the prices are good, and the atmosphere is cozy upstairs, where there are couches and window seats that overlook the commons. The other thing I like about this place is that they are open LATE!!! Thank jeebus. Most of the food joints on the Commons close WAY too early.

Overpriced waffles in a pretty dirty spot. The place has more hygenic problems than a frat house, what with the $15 water cooler dispensing lukewarm water and haphazardly washed utensils. One of the knives had some extra waffle caked on it, if thats your thing. But if you dont like paying for the novelty of fried chicken and waffles, avoid this place. I paid ~$15 for two small portions of chicken fried to the point of a rock atop two halves of a whole waffle that was sold for ten dollars. I dont know how or where this pricing model was invented, but people will gloss over this review and brave catching measles from the utensils for a hipster waffle joint.

A desperately hungry customer who wanted to avoid bread, asked for just the Tuna Salad, without the toasted bread (i.e. Tuna Melt) that it usually came with. The person behind the counter looked unsure, but took her money anyway. But then after she sat down and waited a while, a manager called her back. "Sorry, I am going to refund your money: we cant do just the tuna salad." The customer asked "Why not?".... and was told, "Sorry, its against our policy". They also have a queuing system that is completely broken, which frequently results in people cutting into the line in front of you, after you have already waited ten minutes. Disgusted.

I had a double waffle with Nutella, strawberries and coconut. That they managed to get fresh delicous strawberries in the middle of december really surprised me. I payed ~8 bucks for this, which I feel is a little expensive, and the waffle itself could have been a little crispier and sweeter for my taste, so Im giving this 4 Stars. The serving size and was decent, I went there for breakfast and didnt eat anything before, and it was just the right amount to be full, but not stuffed (medium sized girl here). The interior looked a bit cheap, but also clean, new and colorful.

I enjoyed the variety of toppings here, and my waffle was definitely tasty, but 1) my waffle had HOLES in it! holes! waffles should be full and fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Not okay. 2) the wait time was ridiculously long, they need to figure out how to streamline their waffle-making process 3) The waffles are still rather expensive for what you get ($5.13 for a single waffle with two toppings = overpriced).

Food looks amazing, and stood in line for an hour to taste it. My only problem with Waffle Frolic is people seem to "frolic" into the line whenever they please. The people behind the counter are consistently busy, and probably dont have a lot of time to police people who do dont know Kindergarten concepts like "patience". However, food was hot, tasty, and worth the extended wait. Id recommend the chicken and waffles!

Waffle Frolic is a welcoming environment with staff that is happy to help and make sure you get what you want! The food is delicious - most everything is made in house from fresh, local, organic ingredients! This restaurant is very safe for gluten free customers and has lots of options for vegans as well. My only complaint: Waffle Frolic has ruined all other waffles for me!

I ordered the waffle parfait - it as ok. The waffle was undercooked, not crispy as Id expect; the strawberries were not ripe or anywhere near it (maybe Im spoiled being from California.) The worst thing I noticed was that the utensils in the self-serve area were dirty. It made me suspect that the water in the dispenser hadnt been changed either... Its a bit unsettling

Definitely on the more expensive end of things (except to pay close to or over $20 for two people), however the waffles are worth it. They also have very good vegetarian and vegan offerings which, though not rare in Ithaca, is a nicer touch. Atmosphere is very nice to which is good because you can expect to almost always to wait due to how busy they usually are.
