I visited Purity the night I graduated and regretted not coming sooner. Its got a great, authentic, classic New England ice cream parlor feel to it. The sundaes are bomb - at about $6, the portions arent gigantic, but you reallllly dont need more ice cream that this and the quality is there. In my opinion, one of the sundaes is probably enough for two people. If you were to eat a sundae on an empty stomach, you would probably be 50-75% full. The brownie sundae is decadent, the hot fudge sauce has a rich deep chocolate flavor and the perfect texture. However, my top recommendation would be the apple crisp sundae with an order of walnuts on top. The quality of the vanilla ice cream itself is impeccable but the contrast with warm apple crisp and the walnuts makes it perfect. Ask them to go easy on the caramel sauce if you dont want it too sweet! Note: The are disposable cups and a water dispenser in the dining room - definitely take advantage of this to help you slowly savor your ice cream

The previous comment could not be FURTHER from the truth.... I have worked @ Purity for over 12 years now and have had zero issues with our owners. In fact they are more than accommodating to all of our staff, they basically grant all requests for vacation or other time asked off, they never give you a hard time if you have a family emergency and cant make it to work, they would do anything to help any of our staff...half of the time one of our owners is working right beside all the other staff just to lend that extra set of hands or covering for the staff that wasnt able to make their shift! Our owners would do just about anything for any of our staff so the previous comment is HIGHLY offensive to me personally! Maybe they were talking about Purity Dairy in TN, which somehow we are always getting calls and customer complaints about, which they are no affiliation to Purity Ice Cream in Ithaca.

While I am no stranger to ice cream, last night was my first time at Purity. My date (a regular customer) could not believe I had never stopped in before. We shared a Banana Split Sundae. The ice cream, the toppings, the overall presentation...it was all working for me. I do have two remarks to the layout and decor. First, I LOVE the circular layout. Customers arrive through doors on the north side and move in a clockwise fashion through ordering, pick-up, seating and back to the exit. By putting the bathroom by the doors, they are very accessible for both incoming and outgoing customers. Second...what am I supposed to use the pegs for (see photo)? At first I thought its where customers put their hats and coats, but the pegs seem too short and frequent for hats (its complete lack of use by anyone left me no clues).

I wish I could give this a zero star! Food allergies is on the rise, and I know quite a few of us who have to travel very far in order to enjoy a variety that is safe! I am allergic to both soy and dairy and the only flavor sorbet they have is lemon sorbet....(very mundane..not the most delicious.)..My food allergy friends, please check out the CAYUGA LAKE CREAMERY instead! Its worth the drive...we get variety, we get options!

They have really great lunch (weekdays) and brunch (weekends) options that all taste delicious. Vegetarians and vegans have plenty of options for both. Their ice cream however, is said to contain gelatin except for a flovor or two that is indicated as vegan). The ordering system for food seems overly complicated compared to just having your waiter/waitress take your order.

I LOVE Purity. The owner is awesome and have a great vision for the business. The ice cream is delicious. I make sure I come here whenever I am in the area. I cant miss the Madigan Mint or the chocolate peanut butter of even the cinnamon. The expansion looks awesome and adds so much space and is green! Way to go Purity! Wish I could get it in Chicago.

This place is so famous in Ithaca that anyone on streets can tell you where it is. The parking lot is usually full. The price is reasonable and the serving size is really large. We ate a sundae in the evening and just too full to eat dinner. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere in the place is very pleasing. A must visit of upper NY State.

Ice cream was phenomenal as usual, never had a bad scoop at this shop or any place that serves their product. Not impressed with the staff though. Customer service should be as good as your product and the experience ranged from the "I dont want to be here" ordering staffer, to the "I dont know what is going on" server. Will be back, hope for better.

Best ice cream in all of central New York by a country mile. Whether youre looking for a frozen treat or a delicious baked good, purity has you covered. The staff are available and willing to answer any questions that you may have and the service is top notch. Whether its snowing or its a scorcher outside, Purity is the place to be!

This place is awesome. We had apple crisp sundae omg it was so good and worth every cent. Our son had doubke scoop of icecream ....all of our eyes were holy cow it was huge.....great place. First time from out of town would def reommend this to everyone. Also the staff are very pleasant and always with a smile.....

Purity has a great variety of delicious ice cream AND they pay great attention to the range of dietary needs of their customers. Gluten free menu and cones? Got it. Dairy free? Got it. Its a local hot spot so be prepared to wait. They also serve a very tasty breakfast on the weekends that is worth checking out.

Theres not much that can be said about Purity that hasnt already been said. Expect to be slightly overwhelmed by the sheer number of options that they have. Many many different sundaes, shakes, cupcakes, pies, and floats to choose from on top of the already long list of ice cream flavors (including vegan flavors).

Many different ice cream flavors, and you can have them however you like: cone, cup, milkshake, by the pint to go home with, in a cake, etc, etc. The decor is of an old 1950s restaurant, and that only lends to the charm of the entire place. I recommend getting it to go and enjoying your ice cream outside.

Went here for ice cream, I had a blueberry cheesecake flavor that was tasty and accurate to its name; my wife tried a chocolate peanut butter flavor but hers turned out to be on the icy side, almost like it was slightly freezer burned. Hoping hers was a fluke thing, otherwise itd be 3 stars from me.

The vegan menu for lunches here is amazing. I come here at least once a week and have never had a bad meal. Brunch on the weekends is delicious as well, and there is a large selection of vegan ice cream as well. The staff is wonderful and accommodating and friendly. The best vegan place in Ithaca.

Ithaca has lots of great places for ice cream, but none have the selection and creativity of Purity. Amid rumors of the origin of ice cream sundaes, Purity Ice Cream does not disappoint. Love coming here for a scoop (or two). Great indoor and outdoor seating for year-round ice cream treats!
